I just think there's more to being well written than presentation like in the LoK series

You would have to give some examples of where you find it shallow or all window dressing, but I agree that VtMB is very realistic. When I said best written, that also refers to the overall depth of the character and his choices, not just the dialogue itself. Although some lines are pure poetry. See 6:21 below.
