Yup, pretty much

objectively wrong, you just think long Shakespearean monologues with good voice acting = good writing

>you just think shakespeare is good writing
>shakespeare
>not good writing
user... I...

No but seriously what else is there to good writing if not Shakey level language and classy voice actors combined? Answer me user, I need to know.

I just think there's more to being well written than presentation like in the LoK series
something like Bloodlines to me has a much more realistic and well realized cast of characters

>legacy of kain
>just presentation
nigger what? Raziel alone goes through a wonderful character arc and time travel fuckery that isn't half assed.

You would have to give some examples of where you find it shallow or all window dressing, but I agree that VtMB is very realistic. When I said best written, that also refers to the overall depth of the character and his choices, not just the dialogue itself. Although some lines are pure poetry. See 6:21 below.

I fell in love with the first Blood Omen the moment I accidentally flayed the barkeep who turned me away previously.

LoK is series that only true gaming CHADS can appreciate

Post your fav quote
>Alas, poor Nupraptor – I knew him well. Well, not really.

I've never agreed more with an OP. I'm glad you finally managed to beat your debilitating cock dependency, I know it couldn't have been easy and I'm proud of you.

In comparison to Kane? Yeah.

I'm a sucker for the intro to Defiance even though I started with Blood Omen.

"One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate, and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

Thank you user, I am extremely proud of my conversion therapy results and progress too. I think I am ascending to Chadhood with this new love for Kain.

Both extremely based

VAE VICTIS
AHAHAHAHA

>MALEK!!!
>Call your dogs! They can feast on your corpses!

>Not Kain

Attached: Sr2_Vorador.jpg (185x267, 16.21K)

Why would the members of the circle call for Kain?

>In comparison to Kane? Yeah.
Wrong. Kreia is based and best.

He means that quote isnt kain and therefore not an example of kains great dialogue.

There's an Eldric game?

>be Crystal Dynamics
>let's print money with reboots of legendary franchises
>release Deus Eux reboot, rake in money
>release Tomb Raider reboot, rake in money
>"Hey guys, remember all those LoK easter eggs we put into Tomb Raider for years?"
>"Well, next game is a shitty Avengers cash grab, congratulations!"
Just fucking end me.

I got bored 75% of the way through Blood Omen but I read an LP to find out how the story continues
is it enough to play the games to understand all the time travel shenanigans or do I need the wiki open in the background

Literally who?

Be careful what you wish for user, it is better to keep those games as you remember.

I too, know this pain.

Do you seriously want Square Enix to make a Legacy of Kain video game?

If anything, the wiki only makes it even more of a confusing time loop clusterfuck since the information is so condensed, while the games slowly drip feed you information, and build up the world and atmosphere.

got it, thanks

CD is still the same people only difference is that SE publishes them instead of Eidos.

>only difference is that SE publishes them instead of Eidos.
That's delusion if I ever heard one.

Kreia/the boss for best female character

Kain is the best male character

Considering their last attempt at a LoK game was fucking Nosgoth, I'm ok with the series being dead

what is the absolute best way to play Soul Reaver these days? I have a copy on Steam, and from what I recall the Dreamcast version is technically better than the PS1
are there patches for the PC version or something?

Even ignoring compatibility issues, PC is the worst version of the three.

>mfw the coin is still turning

>the boss
>good character
lol she's a literal macguffin with zero personality and every time she opens her mouth it's a stream of trite. PW only solidified that.

Where the actual fuck do I start with this series?

PC version has no analog controller support(or at least I never managed to make it work) and that alone makes some segments annoying as hell.

>literal
Back to r*ddit.

cope hard drone

Release order, or chronologically wise you can start with blood omen series, then move onto soul reaver.

NOOOO! NO EDGES OR SPINNING ALLOWED!!!!

I'd argue that you can start nearly anywhere, I personally started with soul reaver on the PS1, but you can go further back and start with Blood Omen, if you can handle the sheer difference in gameplay.

The still spin around the hub of the wheel! origin of all life!

Pw?

Peace Walker a.k.a Hot Coldman and his singing A.I's

Ah thanks, i never played either 3 or pw, so i cannot confirm but if pw has that level of writing then there is no hope.

Holy fucking based

Here's your reboot bro.

Devs said it wasn't a reboot.

the series was never that popular even back in the day, dont hold your breath

t. Didn't play all the games to completion. Kain has a really solid character arc through the series, same with Raziel. It was great seeing Raziel going from believing his old vampire hunter buddies to be noble protectors, only to actually see how savage and rutheless they were. and how Kain went from wanting to cure his vampirism, to embracing his power for his own cunty ambitions, to realizing what his role as balance guardian is and ultimately doing the right/selfish thing.

Was there ever and will there ever be a more based voice actor than Tony Jay was, in our lifetime? The guy's voice had sheer fucking presence.
>Lieutenant in Fallout
>The Transcendent One in Planescape Torment
>Elder God in LoK
>Mithras in Sacrifice

I like his character a lot, but the LoK games aren't well written for video games, just like how Planescape: Torment isn't either. We enjoy the stories for reasons unrelated to video games. Devil May Cry or Halo unironically have a better story for video games because it's easier to digest them and also to get into the atmosphere they set up, which is more important for video games.

Kain is based on Elric from the novel series.

>to realizing what his role as balance guardian is
He realized shit, him embracing the balance guardian role was related to Raziel curing him of the insanity all pillar guardians suffered due to Nupraptor.

>the series was never that popular even back in the day
[citation needed]

>4 games
>not popular
I guess the devs worked for free out of love for the series, bet they also got the money to buy the Tomb Raider IP from charity lol.

Tony Jay was great. Also don't forget that Emperor guy in Armed and Dangerous.

I don't remember that in the games. I just remember him casting Raziel into the abyss, sitting in the time stream room and watching the shit in the past that caused his awful future, and then trying to right the wrongs done to vampires and save the pillars with Raziel's help.

why else do you think they arent rebooting it otherwise, especially now when they have all these square enix money?
cause its fucking dead and not enough people have even heard of it nowadays.

back in the day it enjoyed some popularity but lets face it, defiance never really sold as much as eidos were expecting and most of the people who buy vidya nowadays weren't even born back when the last game was released.

That's a central part of the BO plot tho. Nuprator in his grief cursed every member of the circle with insanity. Kain was born in the moment a fatal blow was struck on Ariel him being her replacement. Thus Kain was cursed with insanity from the moment he was born and remained as such to the moment Raziel purified him in the ending of Defiance.

>He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company in England.
huh, I don't know of any bad VAs that have that on their resume.

Speculation ≠ source

With such a godly baritone it's impossible to not be on their list. R.I.P. glorious old dude.

It was 5 games user.

I like Simon Templeton a bit more but yes, Tony was the fucking man. He was Frolo from Hunchback of Notre Dame too.

Ah, I was replaying the series and stopped halfway through Defiance. It's like the most polished game in the series but it also feels super dull. I should get back to it though, only beat it as a kid and haven't played it since.

>LoK games aren't well written for video games, just like how Planescape: Torment isn't either.
Gotta be bait.

>Halo
Okay definitely bait

>Elric from the novel series.
What fucking novel series? If i ask for a sauce tell me the sauce.

Find. A. Single. Flaw.

>kain was maddened by nuprator
Nigga what? He fucking was totally sane user.

Dont listen to him user, he is a pleb.

>He fucking was totally sane user.
Yeah right.

there was a dreamcast version? what were the differences?
