Yes but this was more kino
it had a lot of kino moments, can't wait for the sequel
it was definitely weirdly enjoyable. like you can tell it's a fucking terrible movie for teens and adults while you're watching it. but they got a fucking stellar cast, the action is paced extremely well, they used the quicksilver time stop gag for sonic in the bar fight only to follow it up later trying to do the same thing until robotniks machine ends up being able to do it also breaking the repetitiveness. the VA for sonic is a little grating but not terrible, and they somehow got cyclops from the original xmen movies to play a straight man for sonics funny man. even sets up for a sequel.
all in all 7/10 fun flick for the whole family.
>that condom joke
how did they gget away with it? i thought it was a kid's movie...
Jim nailed Robotnik, and the way he sets up the ending was great
>Actually, I was breastfed
It was aight, better than expected Tbh. 6/10
>nice
>they used the quicksilver time stop gag for sonic in the bar fight only to follow it up later trying to do the same thing until robotniks machine ends up being able to do it also breaking the repetitiveness
Yeah that's the thing. Like holyshit this is overpowered, how are they going to make the main battle interesting, and they did it. Good plot.
Also, the end reveal was perfect.
You tell me
what are you talking about
the movie had literally nothing to do with sonic
sonic could have been any fucking generic cgi creature and nothing would have changed
jim carrey literally just played jim carrey
it was the most milquetoast thing I have ever watched but since it's a video game movie and it's supposed to be a disaster I'm supposed to think it was good?
literally the only thing I actually enjoyed was the gag with the turtle
8/10, needs more flossing especially by robotnik
If Jim wasn't playing Eggman, it wouldn't have been as enjoyable. I liked it.
>I'm supposed to think it was good?
no, you are supposed to form your own opinion. most people who watched it aren't sonic lorefags, so as long as it's blue and he goes fast, then it's a good sonic movie
i'd go as far as saying that this was probably the best vidya adaptiation, if not all time then at least of this millennium
Someone post the robotnik dance
It's a 5/10 movie that's elevated to an 8/10 solely because of Jim Carrey's Robotnik.
my opinion was that it was inoffensive
if it had been a disaster it would be more memorable
>if it had been a disaster it would be more memorable
wait for the sequel
I liked it but the dub is horrible. Sonic sounds like a middle aged woman and Tails sounds like he has a cold.
The sequels are going to be so bad. I can't wait.
I was sold the moment we got MEMES LMAO!
Sonic and Jim on their own were just mostly washed up, but they teamed it to make something bigger then the sum of their parts.
unbelievably based
is this real lmao
yeah, the guy is an "old crazy dude" who's the only one in town who's seen Sonic and is trying to convince folks he's real at the start of the movie with the sanic drawing lmao
Unironically got caught in a fit of laughter when this happened
yes, sonic also flosses twice, makes at least 2 keanu reaves references, and some some zoomer shit that i can't remember right now
>jim carrey literally just played jim carrey
this is a problem for you? that's what he's best at. that's why he even has a career.
>Using Reddit-tier aonic
>Not SUS, Tomorrow I'll, Pingas, or any other chad YTP meme
I'm still laughing at it.
What joke?
>jim carrey literally just played jim carrey
Robotnik bitched about Blimpf and made shitty art?
no, but it's a problem when everyone says somehow he was good as robotnik when he was nothing like him at all
i mean they tried to be more subtle but robotniks theme is literally the theme from the cartoon.
I feel he became more Eggman once he supposedly went crazy in the final scene. Even changed his voice a bit.
Considering the context of this scene this doesn't really bother me at all
i think he kind of needed an origin story. i'm actually totally okay with seeing his evolution into egg man as seen in the end credits. i look forward to seeing how fucking ridiculous he gets in the sequel with the new look.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn't kino.
However, the sequel will absolutely be kino
There was only two things that I actually enjoyed, the shitty child abuse joke and at the end where jim carrey was on the mushroom zone, he actually had a bit of an eggman tone in his voice to show character development.
Everything else made me groan or just wasn't entertaining enough
I don't expect sonic to be some fucking badass but I didn't enjoy him being a looney tunes character compare to his other cartoons where he is a joke
Scenes felt too long, there was too much dialog still scene dialog for a hedgehog that can run at the speed of sound and it literally felt like nothing else was going on til the end
Seen worse, still hated it but it pretty much is the best video game Hollywood movie out there I guess. The monster hunter movie makes me absolutely furious just looking at the poster
The eggman in is absolutely spot-on. It's litterally the Genesis of the villain we know.
>I can't wait for the character to actually be the character in the sequel
fuck hollywood with a bloody rake and fuck you for enabling this retarded bland shit
joker did exactly the same thing and you loved it
have sex incel and stop having double standards
reminder that tails shows up in the post credits scene
Everyone watched Joker as a standalone movie. Yes, it was an 'origin story', but it existed for its own sake. I don't think anybody expected him to beat down Batman next and I'd even wager most sensible people wouldn't want a direct sequel (which theyr'e gonna do anyway and ruin it).
then watch sonic like a standalone crying and stop crying
Anyone got the WEBM?
nice book lmao
It's not going to BE stand alone.
joker had the same problem this movie had, the source material was completely irrelevant
the only difference is joker actually had a good movie behind it whereas this is the movie equivalent of dry bread
>the shitty child abuse joke
what one was that?
The bag, probably.
neither joker, a sequel is confirmed
>joker had the same problem this movie had, the source material was completely irrelevant
i disagree, it had at least 30m of batman references which shouldn't be there at all, it would've been so much better if it was an original movie instead a capeshit.
sonic on the other hand is almost exactly what i wanted from a hollywood adaptation of a videogame.
i rated them both 4.5 stars
Where they had sonic in the bag trying to go up the elevator
in joker I didn't care about him actually being the joker or about him existing in the batman universe being a footnote
in sonic I was constantly wondering where the fuck was the sonic in this sonic movie instead of generic cgi hollywood alien movie
I miss adventure era sonic and Ryan drummond so fucking much
i thought it was fun. movies are not video games as much as naughty dog wants everyone to believe otherwise. the formula has to be different for it to work. sonic is not "cinematic" in any way. he's a blue nigger who runs and jumps on shit at super sonic speed. you kind of need to fill in the blanks and i think they did a good job of making it palatable for a fucking movie watching audience. i think you're autistic.
Incredibly average.
Just because it's a kids movie doesn't mean that they need to force juvenile braindead humor into it. Instead of making it childish, they should make it kid friendly.
Didn't feel there were that many Sonic references either, aside from the obvious shit becuase you know, it's a fucking Sonic movie. It did the bare minimum to make me feel like I was watching a Sonic movie.
Poor continuity too. One thing that sticks out in particular is that Sonic ran up a tall building in the opening shot and some promotional material, but when they get on the spot to retrieve the ring pouch, it's suddenly a problem because they need keys to get through.
The sequels will likely be better, but I'm not expecting much.
Actually enjoyed it. Hoping they follow up a sequel with Sonic facing off Metal Sonic
>kino
Joker sequel was confirmed only post-factum once it suddenly became a sleeper hit literally no one anticipated.
It was conceived as its own movie, didn't even initally replace Leto's in-universe Joker, and was structured as such, with even Joakim not wanting to do a sequel at first, maybe he changed his mind now, don't know.
Sonic wasn't, and the interviews make it blatantly clear that they wanted to create a cinematic universe from the get-go, and the first movie is them getting their feet wet on a tighter budget, which is why it's structured like a pilot episode, instead of its own movie.
I don't see how this is difficult to understand.
>complaining about continuity of a fucking promotional movie poster
i knew sonicfags were autistic but jesus christ
>OF COURSE I DO. I LOVE THE WAY YOU PREPARE IT
>mfw
No it sucked ass, it's a dime a dozen kids movie made for babies and parents to get their kids to shut the fuck up for two hours. I can only hope that the love for this movie on here is ironic, because if you're over the age of 10 and went to see this you are a faggot
If Chris-Chan thought it was kino, then I trust his opinion.
sonic sequel isn't even announced yet, lmao
also the joker oscar said that he pitched sequel ideas during the filming. and the joker's ending scene has exactly the same purpose of the eggman's one, so again, stop crying
It was in the movie too.
I know you lack substantial arguments to defend your stance on this movie, but steeping this low by omitting others' key arguments is just embarrassing.
>joker oscar
joker's actor
>It was in the movie too.
he never went upwards on buildings in the movie
It's not annouced YET, obviously, as the movie didn't even finish all its box office routine due to the coronavirus, but they literally said that's what their plan is.
>The sequel will reveal that Sonic somehow absorbed a chaos emerald or something
>It explains why his quills can generate infinite energy and why he's overpowered compared to his video game counterparts
>It also explains why the echidnas were hunting him down
>At some point Sonic loses the emerald causing him to lose most of his power (he can still go fast but won't be insanely OP) to balance against the antagonist(s)
How likely is this to happen?
