Just stopping by to say ori and the will of the wisps is hands down the best game I have ever played and is now my favorite game, I have just finished it with 91% completion and nothing else I has made me feel as emotional and entertained as this game.
The game is legit GOTY material and the only real thing holding it back is the performance issues.
Literally 10/10 on everything else
Wyatt Robinson
Hard agree, personally I did not experience any issues but that may have been because if the day 1 pastch, I have heard people have suffered glitches, I;m just happy it didn't happen to me.
If this game doesn't get at least nominated for GOTY im going to be very fucking surprised. I truly want as many people as possible to experience this game and it ended absolutely perfectly.
I'm fucking loving it and it may dethrone Aria of Sorrow as my favorite Metroidvania, but in addition to I'm also not a fan of how they humanize EVERY villain. The first game did it with the owl and that was fine but here its everything. >shriek? yeah she's an asshole but she was born deformed so its okay. >the spider? yeah she tried to kill you but it was just the decay, alright? >kwolok? he may have eaten the spirit and tried to eat you too but again, its fine because it wasn't his fault! The only emotional moment so far that really resonated with me was Ku getting fucked by Shriek but now it seems like the game is too desperate to make every plot point a tearjerker and it doesn't work. I'm only at the desert level fwiw though so no spoilers. Admittedly, the gameplay, graphics and music are still 10/10 either way.
I need to git gud at this type of game. I started playing the first game but quit during the level where you have to escape the rising water. I was trying get every collectible and the time limit was making me angry.
Jacob Cook
That is unironically the best part of the game
Jack Diaz
You can do it user I believe in you, you can persevere!
Why is everyone always bringing these games up? are they really that good? should I try them? I don't like platformers
Brandon Jones
will there be a third game?
Dylan Stewart
Stop talking about the shitty game, just post porn.
Wyatt Adams
Yes user, this game in particular is very very good if you can get past performance issues (I didnt have any on my playthrough).
There is more than just platforming in the game there is combat too, but platforming is probably the main focus. If you dont like platformers I would still recommend the game just maybe wait for a sale.
David Cook
What was the peak of the game?
Cameron Lopez
xbot shills pushing hard this shit bc its all they have
Charles Peterson
alright user thanks I'll give it a try. there are games in genres I don't really like that I do
Jacob Sanders
Is the combat better than the first and have they dropped the manual saves? They were the only things stopping me from completing it.
Jayden Richardson
The entire game was really really good user I wouldn't say there was a peak that really stood out. The boss fights and escape sequences were really good and the entire soundtrack is absolutely amazing.
The ending of the game in particular was super fucking good if you played the first game and solidified the game as my favourite of all time
Adam Peterson
Yes and yes.
Luke Diaz
Combat is 10x better and is way more involved and they got rid of the manual saves too
Carson Ramirez
too bad the last boss didn't have the best ost that goes to the spider
Christopher Perry
I don't think it's a 10/10 Super Mario Bros 3 level sequel like the developers hyped it up to be. Judging by all the technical issues and some leftover cut content seams it also still needed one more delay, but I guess patches and a definitive edition will fix all that.
I really really really loved playing it tho.
For me, it's Windswept Wastes. Really fun to traverse through, and I'm one of those idiots who likes desert settings.. youtube.com/watch?v=WdgoDPutrIs
It is something hard to come by for sure. A team of incredibly talented and passionate devs creating a game with the production value of AAA games, and at times even better, but without the bullshit of AAA
Landon Rogers
Sorry user I just listened to the spider boss theme and you are correct
Owen Clark
AmI the only one who thought the game was a litte too forgiving? against the bosses you can just rush in, tank damage and then retreat for heal without ever being at risk
Jose Morris
this is godlike
Juan White
How the hell do I remove the blur?
Charles Taylor
I kind of agree, whenever I thought a boss I just used my fully upgraded bow and used it like an rapid fire shotgun in the boss' face, that thing has ridiculous DPS
Evan Fisher
Add sharpening and clarity with Reshade like I did :^)
Oliver Wright
to each their own, the last boss still has a great theme
Christopher Thompson
There are a lot of thing wrong with it. The worst is that it is hard to dodge. Ori is a small character in a large screen where a lot is going on during fights.
David Rodriguez
Who /hdd bro waiting for the patch/ here?
Wyatt Davis
Git gud I guess
Nathaniel Turner
I agree but I played on normal. Not sure how it is on hard.
Aaron Miller
Agree, they should git gud at developing videogames.
Maybe if it is played close to the screen it isn't difficult?
I did play on pc so I was close to the screen, maybe on consol it is different
Grayson Gray
Perhaps because it just came out this week?
Lucas Wright
they literally improved on everything from the first game. it's very much GOTY as of now. I loved that they went with a charm system like the GOAT HK.
also how does this game look so fucking good on Unity engine? I've forgotten what it's like when actually talented people make a game. almost feel bad for pirating it because I would love another sequel with a new character.
Ethan Jones
Forgiving is fine. If you want to beat the bosses quickly you can’t stand around cowering. The game has challenge modes and achievements so that you can’t stay in the comfort zone forever.
Andrew Scott
>GOAT >HK pick one
Bentley Sanchez
It's pretty great, but it's not GOAT tier
Daniel Butler
They are allegedly making some kind of Diablo/Zelda/Souls inspired ARPG next. I don't think we'll see a new Ori for like 10 years or ever.
Kevin Collins
name a metroidvania superior to HK then?
Isaiah Nguyen
They should give you invincibility frames with the dash. Another problem are the hitboxes on bosses, they're really inconsistent
Oliver Martinez
symphony of the night
Jonathan Sanchez
Not him but SotN is way too easy. It'd be better without the tacked on RPG mechanics
Ryan Ortiz
ok consoomer
Camden Myers
What did they replace the manual saves with? Checkpoints?
Brandon White
oh god the fucking music.
Nicholas Kelly
Aria, bloodstained, SOTN. Any casualvania is better than HK. Piss easy bosses to the point you get filtered by the exploration instead.
Noah Gray
There are checkpoints in the game aswell as shrines where you must manually save the game
Samuel Murphy
>bloodstained This is a joke right? It was just SOTN but worse
Anyone else regularly turn the music off to get more atmosphere? I first started doing this when I went into the dark cave beneath the town and that chipper town music kept playing, ruining what should've been a creepy moment
Also the swamp area is my favorite environment but the music sounds like it came out of Finding Nemo. It just ruins the atmosphere for me and I always turn it off when I go there. I wish I could hotkey music on/off
Landon Morgan
Where do we upgrade abilities if we don't have manual saves? The shrines now?
Robert Hall
There are NPC's in the game who you can talk to to do that stuff
William Jones
The game autosaves pretty constantly. There are shrines that say "game saved" when you use them but it makes no sense since it picks up where you exit the game anyway
Mason Powell
Does this game have difficulty settings? I've heard it's tough and I'm kind of a shitter.
>it was just SOTN but bigger, with the mechanics of Aria given more depth, with more shards to experiment with and shit to do Its such a mesh of concepts stolen from other games that it actually becomes its own thing.
Adrian Gray
>someone spoiled ending for me >sounds outright retarded >finish game >cried like a fucking faggot idk bros. shit hit me deep. not that narrator shit or the tree, but seeing the family live their lives around Ori and grow old around it
Jeremiah Stewart
Dont worry user I cried aswell
Josiah Perry
lol have you even played HK? If you had I think you'd be shitting on it for a reason that makes sense, not "piss easy bosses" compared to... SOTN?
Colton Hill
The Shards were a neat concept but the game pays such direct homage to SotN that it feels like a retread for about half of it. It's not a bad game but it's not great either. Fun, but forgettable
Ian Diaz
The only issue I have is the performance I'm glad I played it on hard mode first
