Oh no Yas Forums it looks like some good samaritan went into The Den and killed every single bastard slaver there! In fact, people heard that he now knows the location of the other slave camps in the area and they're next! What should we do?

That's probably my favorite part of every playthrough. Just camping out at Mom's diner with a scoped hunting rifle while Sulik goes apeshit on the slavers with a sledgehammer, the best part being the big money you make off the loot.

Have you played Fallout Et Tu? It's the new Fallout 1 in Fallout 2 total conversion mod. I'm willing to give it a go but I don't know if it's solid enough yet.

Great weapon, cheap, fast and high damage.

I've had too many problems with Fallout 1 / 2 mods to care modding those. Those games need a full remake to be any kind of stable again.

>What should we do?
Head down to the shark club, grab a girl, grab some jet and just relax.

Which one should I play, FO1 or FO2?

Fallout 1 because the story isn't retarded.
Fallout 2 because the QoL additions make the gameplay not be retarded.

hit up the ncr slavers next
also what is the logical point of klamath? it seems like a literal extension of the original tutorial, anyone who has played this game more than once is either going to skip straight to the den or do a navarro run anyways

1 first, don't let the time limit scare you, due try to get the fan patch if you can to complete a few quests. After than 2 it won't live up to 1 but it's fun.

There is no logical point of most things in Fallout 2.

Is FO3 the combination of good gameplay + good story?

Klamath is nice for some early XP and has some nice bonuses if you know where to look, also basically required for me since I do unarmed a lot and it's the best place to get spiked knuckles.

No, Fallout 3 is the combination of bad gameplay and bad story.

why do you fags have to shit up these threads

Attached: 1583448859652.png (358x300, 148.35K)

No, the main story of 3 is weak as hell, where 3 excels is exploration and side quests.

Fallout 1 is to Fallout 3 what Fallout 2 is to New Vegas.
If you want a game that is well written with a world that feels dynamic and organic, play Fallout 2. If you want a ride from point A to point B, play Fallout 1.

Nah, the side-quests are shit too.

Me right here.

Attached: me.png (118x272, 86.09K)

>Fallout 2
>well written
why would you lie on the internet

>f3
>good story
HAHAHA

If you squint really hard some parts are okay.

It is extremely well written.
It may noy have a narrative as strong as 1 but the moment to moment dialog and world-building are top notch.
Are you one of those IF IT'S FUNNY IT'S BAD kind of people?

I did like Frank Horrigan so I concede to your point.

>it's the end of role-playing as you know it
goddamn that prophecy came true but only after toddy got his way with the franchise

>world-building are top notch.
FO2's world is literally theme park towns.

LEGION CHADS WW@?

>not liking Hakunin
>or the elder
>or Sulik
>or the myriad of addicts and swindlers around the world
Embarassing.

Fallout 2 is 30% good writing, 40% 90's pop culture references, and 30% bantz.

what the fuck does that even mean?

and you are the clown in those towns taking the carousels, can you be any more dishonest faggot?

Arroyo was a retarded idea and descendants of post-war vault dwellers would never go full-retard HEYA HEYA HEYA noble savage / redskin indian tier over the course of one generation. Honest Hearts did tribals much better by having these primitive societies rise from where they would be rising.

>junkie town
>mob town
>fascist town
>ghoul town
>mutant town
>chink town
>cowboy town
>farming town

Tim Cain doesn't like what F2 is becoming and leaves before it's finished, fast forward some years later he makes the The Outer Worlds one of the lamest 'rpgs' in existence. What did he mean by this?

>can you be any more dishonest faggot?
Explain that to people who worked on the game themselves, faggotron 2000

Attached: mcafo2.png (1570x253, 52.04K)

I WANT EVERY TOWN TO BE THE SAME
Tribals are fun and imo one of the best parts of Fallout.

I don't think Tim Cain had much to do with that game, other than attaching his name to it for cheap bucks.

>What did he mean by this?
That passing of time turns even good developers into has-beens.

explain what? nothing in that post supports your narrative

I was always a fan of going in the slaver's office to 'negotiate,' then reverse lock-pick the door so none of his minions can come in while Sulik, Cassidy and I skull-fuck every mother fucker in there. If you find an explosive early on, tossing it + locking the doors on the slavers is a guaranteed hoot. In fact, I miss being able to manipulate environments like that in older games. I used to love locking the doors in Jagged Alliance 2 and shooting mustard gas through the windows, then shooting anyone that tried to flee.

>What did he mean by this?
He should have been like the chad Brian Fargo.
>finally get the IP you've wanted for decades back
>get it funded on kickstarter
>it's a huge success and allows you to go and resurrect even more classic CRPG's

Attached: Brian_fargo.jpg (653x367, 41.41K)

>I WANT EVERY TOWN TO BE THE SAME
No, I want towns in the game to be coherent and believable like in Fallout 1.
Shoo, strawman-chan.

wasteland 2 was mediocre but still better than outer shits I guess, we'll see if W3 is actually good

>one of the main fo2 writers says fo2 was a creative mess and doesn't consider it canon if it contradicts fo1
>w-what do you mean
based retard

Attached: 1554302808948.jpg (416x383, 67.31K)

>coherent and believable
they were, it's your problem if you don't see this not the game's

I'm playing it right now for the first time and just got the tribal and the merchant as a companion. Is it normal for me to die in every encounter on my way there.? It started easy in between Kathalak and the Den, I even manage to clear out the toxic cave, but now the difficult of the enemies is scaling to ridiculous levels. The slavers manage to kill me in the first round with an SMG before I knew what was happening,

Track him down and high five him, then join his hunt.

It's a shame Wasteland 2 is soulless trash instead of being a in-depth squad RPG with a degree of environment control during battles. Winning some things with dialog is cool, but you still need to have stellar combat gameplay for a post-apocalyptic RPG.

looks like Joe Rogan from the thumbnail, hell even full sized he looks like Roagan

Torment and Bards Tale IV give me more hope. Not the best games in the world but a nice change of pace especially considering the state of the industry.

if you are getting fucked in some area it means you aren't ready for it and you should level up and get some gear, it's simple

Attached: 1564016595855.png (596x600, 105.63K)

>The slavers manage to kill me in the first round with an SMG before I knew what was happening
Automatic weapons are broken in the game.

Great cover artist; did some judge dredd and lobo stuff

>Torment
oof even the director of the game had to apologize for fucking it up

I actually have high hopes for w3 they received a lot of money from microsoft+fig

My favorite part is how the game opens with the oldest person in the village talking like a retarded child despite being old enough to have been taught proper fucking English by the vault dwellers from Fallout 1 that she was descended from. My second favorite part is how they live in fucking mud huts and dirt shacks despite having a giant fucking stone temple that they apparently only use to test people.

It's written badly, like really fucking badly. It's a badly written game, especially when compared to Fallout 1.

What did Avellone mean by this?

Post your build. It might be okay if you go back to Klamath and really do all the quests there for all the XP you can get.

Attached: 1522818351817.jpg (2560x1536, 1.36M)

>It's a shame Wasteland 2 is soulless trash
yeah I was pretty disappointed with it. it has the same level of appeal as atom rpg which isn't saying much. sad that none of the characters have any actual character to them.

>people who have no means of making money somehow fuel the gambling, porn, boxing and brothels in both Den and New Reno
>Arroyo "tribals" went from educated ex-vault dwellers to bumbling fucktards who are too poor to trade for food but are resourceful enough to erect a giant temple who's only purpose is to test a select few
>it took only one generation for that change to happen
>believable and coherent
Keep going, king, you're doing great.

>despite having a giant fucking stone temple that they apparently only use to test people.
The temple predates the war.

wasteland 2 was bad from design standpoint
unironically must rpg Yas Forumsirgins here could probably design better systems

Fallout: New Vegas is only good because there were two great writers around to slap the shit out of people if they started with that retarded shit.

With luck they will listen to the feedback on the development of wasteland 3, could go either way though.

just finished playing this, pretty good desu
better than fallout 1.5, what a fuckin drag that mod was

Please tell me which ancient civilization lived in northern cali.

The United States.

Maybe. Now they just need to drop the biome-of-the-month shit and go back to an arid badlands type deal for the setting. I just played Divinity OS2 and I kind of wish we could put Larian to develop a Fallout 1 clone.

>completely everything needs to be explained to me in plain text because I haven't an ounce of imagination to fill up the connections myself

Yeah keep treating those small areas of the game you visit as realistic depictions of what a real place should be and not some conceptual appropriation.

>The United States.
>civilization
HEH

And so WHY DON'T THEY LIVE IN IT?

The answer is because it was just a tutorial dungeon that they were compelled to put in the game, but it highlights just how fucking unbelievably retarded it is that vault dweller descendants somehow forgot how to do literally everything in one generation.

>den
>new reno
>san fran
>vault city
>small areas
Yikes and oof and cringe
