Her 'scheme' didn't go awry, he rejected her kindness and she set the tone for the relationship going forward. This is basic storytelling. Your diseased brain twisted that into ''ugh bet some blue haired woman forced them to put that in even though it makes no sense.''

It was unnecessary forced moment to prove that she can kill him anytime etc.
We knew that already, and it ruined her character there as being diplomat that can manipulate people with charisma alone.

He thought it was a genuine human connection. But this whole subplot with the twins was rushed.

The Judge turning out to be a serial killer was the biggest lolwut moment for me in this season. Actually the whole arc in that village felt needless.

it wasn't rushed, the season takes place over a longer period of time than it gives off. It's just poorly executed in that regard.

The problem is that the twins didn't feel authentic as characters. Poor voice acting, weak motivations, character design that clashes. Then an out of nowhere betrayal.

She's being shown to be smarter than Camilla since she manipulates Hector into compliance with both the carrot and stick approach. Beating the shit out of Hector when he threatened her was the stick and to basically show him that he can be killed anytime she decides to.

So when she's offering the carrot, he basically has no choice but to take it or get nothing. That's how she ends up getting a ring on him and basically fixing Camilla's plan.

That’s probably what bothered me compounded by what said. The last couple scenes of the twins didn’t show any sort of hatred or frustration building up. It’s really just that final scene that might imply they used Alucard’s teachings to subdue him, but I wish something more was said.

In addition to the fact that Ellis (screenwriter) read the wiki, it is worth paying respect to the director and animators who really played games, and most of the love for easter eggs and art should be given to them. Without them, it would be another western adaptation with a screenwriter who did not really understand the original source.
