FF XIV can easily be played like a singleplayer game. Its story is incredibly long and Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers are easily better stories than X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2, Lightning Returns and XV.

When you play the story of XIV, you have your NPC story characters, like Y'sthola, Urianger, Thancred, Yugiri, Krile, Tataru, Hien, Estinien, Aymeric, etc standing around the game world for you to speak to, just like in normal FF games. You have hours long cutscenes and all that. The only time you are forced to do anything with the community is when you need to beat a dungeon or a boss fight. But Shadowbringers even changed that. You can play the story-related dungeons with the story characters instead, like the Crystal Exarch, Ryne, Alphinaud etc. and can ignore online players. Shadowbringers only forces you to do boss fights with other players.

It's not. It was just baby's first movie game. For most people in the 90's this was the first game they played with characters and a story so it resonated, emotionally, with them. It's really not that great. The characters, especially, are overrated as shit.
