It's not forgotten, right?
>We're too late again master
>All dead
One of my favorites,
>you mana whores are under attack!
It's one of the games that would benefit the most from a modern remaster, since 3D games from that time tended to age badly.
>it’s out of range
>it’s out of range
>it’s out of range
>it’s out of range
>you can’t cast that yet
>you can’t cast that yet
>you can’t cast that yet
>you can’t cast that yet
I will fucking murder you flying rat
>your creatures are dying
this is my favorite game and I still play it.here is something fun to do. open up all the MP maps in the level editor and boost the starting souls to maximum and place like hundred blue souls around each altar. fucking huge battles
Hell yeah I did. Shit was cash. I joined the edgy god because I was an edgy kid back then. Or was it the fire god? I forgot.
I changed gods like I changed underwear
I don't know man, but the zombie dragon was pure sex.
silverback was best. locked up niggas in a block of ice. you sick 3 of those on a wizard and he cant do shit
Imagine not worshiping our lord and saviour.
Any studio that wants to "remaster" games just wants to Baldur's gate them Beamdog style. Shit them up under the guise of making them work on modern machines. Fuck remasters. You can get Sacrifice to run on modern machines with little effort.
Which one of them is the cock tease slut? Also the fire guy was literally a balloon you can find better.
Anyone else side with Airballoonmandude for most of the game?
I played through the campaign with every god, sadly some of them always die before the finale.
>Yas Forums play video games
TOPKEK Yas Forums don't play games just cooms to vidya waifus
Well, you're really only serving them for personal gain anyways.
I sided with Stratos cause my initial thought was "This guy seems pretty reasonable, rational and pretty much making the most long term sense."
Imagine my surprise when it turns out he is the main villain behind the scenes (well, almost), this guy outdid the Pyro and fucking edgelord Charnel as the incarnation of evil
I never got too far into it because I couldn't wrap around the control scheme properly but for the time I played I liked the worm god, he was a chill dude
Tim Curry behind voice of Stratos, shit was so good.
James was literally the nicest of the gods and a really benevolent bloke, even if the game tries to place the portals from "good" to "neutral" to "evil" from left to right. Persephone was too much of a zealot and warmonger.
I went between Persephone and James as the game allowed. Pyro and Charnel I stayed away from. I did some Stratos stuff and regretted it later.
You talking about the nature goddess? She was kinda a btich or at least gave off that vibe to me so I passed over her. I really should give it another try again sometime though
Yes, the nature goddess. She was supposed to be all about life and nature and all that "lawful good" stuff, but as you noticed - she was kind of a vengeful bitch. James was the only god I genuinely felt bad for wiping out of existence.
This game and Populous: The Beginning are two of my favorite games and it makes me mad the way RTS have gone since when looking back at those two specifically. I'm also angry becauseof how much those two games did with Terrain Deformation and destruction while at the time other devs were like, "not possible" and future devs were like "too much resources" and tons of other excuses. Even today good terrain deformation is hard to come by, especially in RTS, RPG and God style games.
Even Black & White 1/2 never had the terrain manipulation on the level of Populous: The Beginning.
He's right that she's overzealous. Useful units though.
One other thing that both have in common, is that both of them have excellent OSTs:
we got an official tier list rankings of each god?
These are all Tim son
I remember it being so goddamn hard, but I'm a shitter so it doesn't tell you much.
The interface, gameplay and setting is truly unique though, I think anyone who played it remembers it to this day.
Played it at release, can't remember which God I worshipped though. It was fun at LAN-parties for a while.
Yeah this and Dragon's Dogma are one of the few games where being a mage really felt as it should. Summoning volcanoes, tornadoes, creating holes in the ground and making your enemies drop into nothing etc. is pure fun.
I have a friend who loves it, but I could never really get into it myself
initially you couldnt edit your spellbook for multiplayer, you had to use the one you got from beating the game, so I based my decisions on building an effective spellbook. eventually people figured out how to hex edit their spellbooks so shiny just included a spell editor in the patch.
Never played it in multiplayer, what was the "meta" that people cracked eventually in terms of spells and units? I take it Silverback is the best ultimate unit? Atleast it seemed like that to me.
Great game.
>I remember it being so goddamn hard
IIRC the computer actually cheated and had more mana and other ressources than you.
initially the most overpowered unit was Charnel's level 1 ranged (blanking on the name, the zombie dudes that throw bugs at you) but they fixed it in a patch
I liked building minions that caused the othef player to rage so I went with James for level 1 (his melee unit is immune to spells) and silverback for the reason I already mentioned. I also would take two fences and Tornado. I think the healing Tick units too. I dont remember everythin exactly though
the cpu is a pushover once you learn the game.
there is only 1 total bullshit level that actually comes down to random ai luck, the pyro level where you face 2 wizards and if they capture like 4 mana sources you lose. there is nothing you can do to win if the ai makes a certain decision and you just gotta restart. still takes me a half dozen attempts due to this
they dont havemore resources they can just cast faster than you because they dont have to drag a mouse around
Just played it a few weeks ago. The interface and controls are pretty well designed for todays standatds. You can also edit hotkeys on the fly without pausing the game. The camera is a pain in the ass tho.
Never finished it back in the day. I remember the AI being super aggressive on the last map. Always coming at me, slowly but surely taking all of my souls.
I should give it another try at some point.
>Gem
I'm always posting this piece of shit every time there is a "worst game ever"-thread.
what's so bad about it?
You must know something that others don't then. Or, you know, more likely scenario is having shit taste.
I played it. Look good, but gameplay suck.
Charnel being a total bro was a fun twist
stratu domine glahtah
Yeah. Had one of those magazine DVDs with a bunch of games, but this one was in Polish.
Still played it since it had that cool Warcraft 3 feel.
the last map you play defense. let him come to you and slowly pick away at his souls. I litteraly don't leave my alter and until he doesn't have any souls to summon so I can just focus on his Guardianed minions.
he has to use his brain
i replay it every year
Yeah, I played it.
It was pretty fucking terrible. A good example of a lot of cool sounding ideas don't actually always make for a fun gameplay. I loved many of the concepts, it was clear a shitton of care went into it, it had character - albeit I can't say I liked the art direction an atmosphere - and its a sad reminder of how much more creative and risk taking the industry used to be.
So I admire it for what they tried to do, and miss the time when games like these could be a major releases.
But man, this one did not work well. It comes with creativity and risk-taking: some of the new ideas just don't work out.
Managing your units was an absolute pain the the ass. In the late game, dealing with multiple attacks at the same time turned the game into an annoying whack-a-mole bullshit. The unit A.I. was garbage and often screwed you over, while the enemy A.I. cheated like a motherfucker.
I would like to see more devs trying out creative shit like this today, but I don't miss playing this game AT. ALL.
so you sucked at it and never learned to play
I think they played with expectations and assumptions for each god. Persephone being a rabid zealot despite being "good", James being a chill, peaceful dude despite his entire army seeming like a sledgehammer brute force, Stratos being the evil mastermind and manipulator despite presenting himself as a wise, rational being and a seeker of knowledge. Pyro is the only one played straight, he's pretty much industrial greed and progress marching forward relentlessly and consuming everything in his path. Then you have Charnel - who'd be the first person you pick as the most likely culprit for the entire clusterfuck going on, yet despite being demonic and death incarnate, he still sticks to deals, pacts and rules set by the gods - and tries to react but a bit too late.
>so you sucked at it and never learned to play
Nah, I did learn to play it, I even finished it. I just did not have fun with it. Very few people had at the time. Everyone praised the game for it's originality and presentation, but nobody really liked the gameplay. It's just massive nostalgia tinted glasses you are wearing now.
Here is a simple way to test whenever you are nostalgia driven hypocrite or what you say has any merrit:
What did you think of Kingdom Come?
did anyone play this game? I think it was from the same devs or something. I remember an article about it in a pc magazine I had.
When it stopped being about the space marines I lost interest
>Evolve but good
This game doesn't get enough credit for how good the voice acting was
So your only criticism is that AI beat your ass?
I fucking love this game, only sad thing is that I played PS2 version, have to play PC version some of these days.
Playing with the jumping girl is fucking fun.
No, my only criticism was that the core gameplay loop was shit because third person combat and RTS don't merge together well at the best of times, and this game made it particularly obnoxious. But sorry to insult the game you last time played as a little child, remember fuck all about, but are pretending to praise here because you want some "cool oldschool guy cred".
i really like the gameplay and i replay it once a yer, so diffrent strokes for diffrent folks i guess. You just suck at it :p
Just finished the tutorial for the first time.
Is there a way to strafe?
