This character has no reason to exist. He has no positives or strengths that can't be found in another character for way less commitment and with way less critical weaknesses. What strengths he does have barely exist.
If Little Mac, a literal broken character didn't exist, he would be the worst in the game.
Little Mac is actually decent on the ground. He just has 0 air game. Put him in the hands of someone who knows wtf they are doing and he's pretty decent
Ethan Wilson
Are you one of those retards who goes "tiers only matter at high level" and then wonders why he got rolled by Metaknight in Brawl every game?
Ryder Bailey
Just play the game as it was fucking intended, with all the stages, hazards and items on, and have fun with the dam wacky characters without caring for the dam tiers.
You are not going to EVO, stop pretending otherwise.
Cooper Thompson
>even tweek couldnt make him work He and Little Mac are evidence that Sakurai desperately needs to retire, Ultimate as a whole is really badly designed but such a vast rubbish bin full of characters is the most prominent symptom.
I do. This is a dam party game, and I intend to win with my favorite character while trowing Pokeballs until something useful comes out, or a Golden Hammer spawns.
Owen Diaz
Little Mac is shit in every conceivable way, it's crazy how poorly designed he is. He's both annoying to play as, and boring as fuck to fight.
Ridley isn't even the worst big boy, Rool takes that distinction. Besides that, Ridley has a few good things, namely some good spacing aerials and general kill power. He's still just a worse Bowser, but that isn't completely awful.
Ryan Garcia
Unless you're online, where spamming dash attacks and smash attacks is actually viable. If that doesn't work just do a side b or f-tilt.
Jeremiah Rogers
>t-tiers dont matter! Characters are objectively better than others, requiring less ability to use and having more at their disposal. This will inevitably reflect in every level of the game outside of literal babies teething on the controller.
>j-just play for fun! The moment you run into someone who practiced, takes the game seriously and decides to play with you, you won't have fun. They will effortlessly roll you because you made no effort to improve. You will lose over and over and over, and you won't know why, and nothing will change that outside of you taking the game seriously and practicing as well.
>p-party game! This is a non-argument. Volleyball is played at beach parties and cookouts, does that not mean professional volleyball players won't kick your ass? You may as well never try at any video games, just rub the controller on your weenie because you're not actively participating in the Olympics.
Ridley is considerably better than Charizard on his own
Josiah Gonzalez
>He's still just a worse Bowser
Bowser has the benefit of being able to shrug off cheesy frame stuns and actually does things when he can get in. He also takes execution. Ridley will work just as hard (probably harder) as Bowser to get in and when he's there he will either nair or tilt. You can easily anticipate both. The only worse heavy is K. Rool and that's because he has no single frame moves at all.
Jose Davis
Get online right now
Bentley Long
Fucking nerd
Christian Morgan
>party game! This is a non-argument.
Dude, this game is meant to be played in wacky stupid stages, with items on! What's the point of being a pro with Zero Suit Samus, or Lucina if I can trow a black hole at your face, hit you with a Golden Hammer, and then watch the Giant Fish ate you in the frozen sea? All while being buffed by Spirits if I so decide!
Logan Morris
>This character has no reason to exist. He's a big fucking space dragon and has a knife tail >He has no positives or strengths that can't be found in another character for way less commitment and with way less critical weaknesses. What strengths he does have barely exist. He's a big fucking space dragon and has a knife tail and that's his strength >If Little Mac, a literal broken character didn't exist, he would be the worst in the game. K. Rool, Bayonetta, Villager, Isabelle, Dedede, Incineroar, Kirby, Dr. Mario, Corrin, Pit, Dark Pit, and Jigglypuff all exist Plus no other character is a big fucking space dragon and has a knife tail
Elijah Bailey
>Ridley >bad He's low mid, nowhere near unplayable.
Donkey Kong, K Rool, and Incineroar are all worse than Ridley by a good margin.
Carter Jackson
Sorry, this was meant for this
Ayden Torres
I think you replied to the wrong post
Hudson Ross
I like Ridley, he kills all Fed force wimps and doesn't afraid of anything
Jonathan Collins
No easier way to out yourself as a shitter than to say Ridley is a bad character.
Ryan Reyes
retarded post
Adam Russell
Congratulations retard, you outed yourself as a shitter.
Austin Lee
post home address or you're a pussy
Luke Lewis
>what if we made the largest character in the game extremely light and gave him very slow moves
Made even funnier when you look at $6 characters like Byleth killing at 40% doing less and having less weaknesses.
Charizard has a bit more going for him with the better recovery, higher weight, faster speed, and Flamethrower. Ridley has faster frame data, but Charizard is more or less just as viable as Ridley on its own.
Andrew Miller
nah Ganondorf and Incineroar are worse
Xavier Richardson
He's basically the second best super heavy after Bowser, stop complaining.
Parker Ramirez
DK is better than Ridley considerably. They both have similar weaknesses, but DK has better strengths. He's heavier, deals more damage, has better poking tools, can combo you for 50% if he grabs at low percents, has that delicious combo-starting nair, has tons of super armor, and has better recovery.
DK's weaknesses are the exact same as Ridley's, so no point in listing them.
Daniel Robinson
>and has better recovery DK has the easier recovery to gimp in the game by a mile and can't recover low.
This is bait.
Justin Nguyen
Ridley isn't a super heavy tho
Adrian Watson
Are you joking? Ganondorf is a solid mid tier in this game. He's one of the best heavies. DORIYAH alone is a strong move, but he also has a bunch of other tools.
All Ganon would need to be viable is a quick OOS option and a reflector to beat out projectile spamming.
Jordan Foster
You can always tell these posters never play the character they talk about.
Damn it's impressive how seriously you take a nintendo game, so cool
David Turner
you are such a faggot LMAO
Ethan Murphy
Ganondorf is the worst character in the game, potentially even worse than Mac.
Colton Bailey
DK can recover from the blast zone. He has more trouble recovering low, true, but so does Ridley. At least DK has one of the best horizontal recoveries in the game.
Bentley Stewart
nah he just isn't. his disadvantage is way too bad. none of his tools work well beyond mid-skill level, they only filter scrubs.
Samus is heavier than Ridley. No, I am not kidding.
Brody Murphy
All heavies are bad in disadvantage, even Bowser. We've seen Ganondorf take games off of Light's Fox before. He's not a top tier by any means, but Ganondorf is so min-maxed that he can absolutely put in work, so long as you aren't fighting Joker or Peach or Olimar.
Chase Parker
so what you're saying is is that ridley is the most honest character after little mac
Thomas Morgan
I play him because I like Metroid and he's fun. Eat my ass
eh. he's not that bad. he's got stuff >nair combos really well and has a fuckhuge hitbox >uair and utilt are really good at chases/catching landings >his tail disjoints (ftilt, dtilt, etc) are really long. reward good spacing fairly well >good ledgeguarding with his jumps, fireballs, nair, fair, and up-b(when angled down and ledge-canceled, for dat spike hitbox) >down-b is amazing for hard reads and tech chases >neutral-b is great for stage control, edgeguarding, racking up percent, and is just all around a great projectile(s) >side-b puts the opponent offstage or near the ledge, kills fairly early after the buff, and ridleycide is like the 2nd or 3rd best -cide in the game his problems are all merely systemic. he's a bit too light, his hitbox is a bit too big, his recovery is just a bit too short, and his overall frame data is a sort of lacking. but once you accept these weaknesses, get past em, and/or work around em, he's a very enjoyable bottom-of-mid tier, and one who can pull off really cool stuff. there are 100% worse characters, there's easily like 5-10 that don't even have these listed luxuries.
He has a command grab, and therefore can't be honest.
Anthony White
same thing can be said for mario himself
at the end of the day, all that matters is that they are iconic heroes or villains, not some retarded idea of balance
Aiden Anderson
I've been a Ganon main since Melee and while I love how good he is in this game, the second he's off stage, just fucking give up His recovery is abysmal, his jump height is embarrassing, and it's completely linear the same way every time you recover
Matthew Gutierrez
No, fuck off. This entire post is garbage. This was made by someone who doesn't play Ridley and it's painfully obvious.
>nair combos Nair combos into nothing. You know why you see nair used a lot? Because literally every other attack Ridley has two-digit numbers attached to it, either at the front or at the end. And if nair isn't faster than something your opponent does in the air then you really ought to just disconnect the controller and leave because it's going to be like trying to fight Fox as K. Rool.
>u-air and u-tilt are good at chases This is assuming Ridley can get priority, which he probably won't because of the above. Does Ridley hit hard? Yes, but so does a steamroller if you lay down in front of it. Unless you are asleep you aren't going to get killed by that and the same is true of Ridley, especially in the air in a game that contains characters who, quite literally, have 0-death aerial combos that work only on him due to his ridiculous size.
>his tail disjoints are really long His tail disjoints are A) slow and B) regularly lose out to your average top tier shorthopping and using his neutral air at you, because Ridley quite literally throws them out at half the length his character model actually conveys. If they were Byleth levels of long maybe they'd be decent moves.
>down B is amazing I'm going to punch you.
>neutral B is great for stage control, edgeguarding If you use this on stage you're going to get the shit kicked out of you because of how slow it is and how easy it is to shorthop (or if you bother to charge it, full hop) over the fucking things. This would be a decent move if you could charge and hold it like Samus's charge shot, but you can't, which means you have to commit to this bad laggy move that is highly-telegraphed and easy to avoid. You can use it off stage if you're a moron but you'd be better off jumping over, using nair or fair and then just gliding back to stage. It doesn't have practical use edge guarding.
Xavier Reed
>Ganondorf is the worst character in the game >potentially even worse than Mac. >potentially Isn't that implied by him being the worst character in the game?
Dylan Wright
Lmaooo who cares? It's a kids game
Hudson Cox
>>side-b puts the opponent offstage or near the ledge, kills fairly early after the buff, and ridleycide is like the 2nd or 3rd best -cide in the game
I saved this for last because it's the dumbest part of the fucking comment.
Imagine you were in a street fight. You take 2 seconds to reel back your arm to throw a punch, and then you have to say "okay, here it comes!", you throw it, and then you have to count to 2 seconds after before you can do it again. This is Ridley's side-B. It was an even bigger joke when it didn't kill Mario at 140%, but it's still not a reasonable move to use because it's probably the most telegraphed thing next to Warlock Punch, which at least has fucking super armor. I mean holy shit, I've seen a tourneyfag use Ridley's side-B one time in what has to be a hundred hours of watching this shit, and even then it whiffed and missed. It is a horrible move. It's one application is online where input lag is immense and it MAYBE loses .5 seconds of its windup time.
Oh, and it eats nigger dick if you throw a disjoint at it or some invuln move, so LOL.
Brayden King
I've been a Ganon main since Brawl. In Melee I only played Yink and 200 BPM Metronome, but something just feels right about Ganon to me since then. I actually kinda prefer 4 dorf because of the side b, and also his old u-smash was so fucking good.
His recovery has always been abysmal, especially in Melee where it was worse Falcon's, who already had notoriously bad recovery. At least he isn't as bad at recovering as Little Mac, Doctor Mario, or Terry.
>character is low tier >that means the character shouldn't exist I guess we should remove everyone that isn't the top 3 characters. And then systematically remove them too because doing so would make a new top tier of just those 3 until we only have one character left.
