Why didn't Tifa say anything when Cloud's retelling of the Nibelheim incident was obviously wrong?

She had reason to doubt her own memories, and she couldn't reconcile how Cloud obviously had first-hand knowledge of an event that had been covered up so thoroughly that Shinra went to the lengths of rebuilding the town and filling it with actors just to pretend the whole thing never happened. Also, she was in full co-dependent mode and was afraid that Cloud might leave her if she spoke up about it.

Cloud survived and was traumatized by truly awful experiences. The only reason he's not insane is because his brain coped with the damage by reimagining itself as someone who hadn't gone through what he had. It takes a very delicate touch to heal someone who's only hanging onto sanity by a lie.

Cloud's autism and mental instability was the best part of FF7 looking at how much of a fucking wreck Cloud truly was and Tifa still choosing to remain with him even in his retarded state permanently puts her as best girl in any FF game.

Anyway it was shit writing. They probably added that part near the end when they realized Tifa had no reason to be part of the group, outside of being Cloud's childhood friend.

She THOUGHT he was coming to Nibelheim, she didn't fucking know if he ever made it into SOLDIER at any fucking point, hence her disappointment to not seeing him when they arrive.

She didn't want to say anything because Cloud was fucked up when she found him and has been acting strange the whole time, she was worried about him. Plus she was curious why Cloud knew what he did know about the incident and how. She didn't want to say anything and make him have a break down because she didn't want to lose him again.

Just doesn't want to lose Cloud again after he left their home town, so she abides by the false story Cloud tells as to not hurt his feelings or challenge him in any way.

Tifa's character perspective comes from a background of guilt that turns into affection for Cloud over the course of her life after her mother died, She just doesn't want to lose him again and wants to make up for lost time with him.

why does she care so much about Cloud despite ignoring him almost their entire childhood to hang out with the cool kids instead?

Tifa didn't tell Cloud a lot of things because everyone seems to forget that she found the guy in a comatose state. She was terrified that telling him everything would send him back into a vegetable state. She kept trying to tell him throughout the game but always stopped herself. I remember one of the seen was when they were all sitting by the fire.

To be fair, I think both Tifa and Aerith had bad reasons for likeing Cloud. Tifa's is overly hung up on a childhood friend and Aerith just wants to be with the guy who reminds her of Zack. It's even bad in the Remake too since Cloud acts like a sperg when Tifa tries to talk to him.

Aerith and Zack seemed like the only happy couple and they ended up dead.

2 reasons:

1, when she found him he was in a mentally unstable state, so shes afraid to contradict him.

2, she thinks her own memories sre wrong. Especially since she doesn't remember Cloud being there at all (when he reveals himself to her shes barely concious) yet he knows more or less the whole story.
When she hears Zack's name at his house, thats when she starts to put everything together, hence her minor freakout: she thinks she made up zack in her own head
