I refuse to pirate. Good enough for you?

Most of the time its more convenient for me to buy games than pirate them and I value my time more than my money

I can make sure I have the latest version of the game

Reminder that piracy is only "theft" because the music industry bought a SCOTUS case 20 years ago and everyone back then knew it was bullshit and called it what it was: sharing.

Sometimes there's just no pirated copy available, or the pirated copy is not compatible with multiplayer.

Only thing I pirate is anime but I do try and support the release(I bought blu rays of space dandy and lupin and a shit load of manga)

I've pirates games, liked them and bought the sequel at launch.

>2020 Yas Forums
Literally worse than reddit

I like collectors editions. I like supporting devs that deserve it. I like playing online. I pirate a hell of a lot though, mostly to use as demos.

They're good little bootlickers aren't they. Their masters have trained them well. I wish I had slaves that blind and devoted.

Piracy is theft because you're violating a contract.

The contract is theft because nobody actually agrees and blatantly coating all transactions with ToS destroys ownership rights as a whole. My money pays for it it's my property, end of story.

What contract? Most cracks skip the EULA meme. Even if wouldn't that only make it piracy when you click the little box? Does that mean that downloading a game but not installing it is not piracy since you never click the box and thus never sign the contract?

I don't want russian trojans and miners on my computer and I like having my stuff on steam

It's a license, not property. You don't buy property with your money when you get a car wash, or a ticket to a movie/concert, or internet service.

Even buying a physical copy isn't your property. You just have a license attached to that disk, which has DRM.

i'm too lazy to pirate modern games since most public trackers are pretty sketchy
that being said, i still pirate 3DS/DS/any older console games since handheld console piracy and older console emulation is far easier than trying to find a copy of the game on ebay or whatever and most ROM sites are vastly less sketchy than public piracy sites

Games i pirate
>singleplayer
>american
Games i do not pirate
>multiplayer
that's it.

I have a job and would rather just spend money to play video games now instead of building an identity to get into a trustworthy private tracker

That is what I call theft, you can't just slam a contract on something and say "using this software means you agree", that's not how agreement works. No I don't agree with your EULA but I'm still going to use your software. I'm going to download it somewhere else because taking what someone shares with me is my right and you can't jew me out of it.

Actually you can slap a contract on anything, because the customer can just not buy it.

who here piratedchad?

just got done downloading a bunch of gog games from the goodolddownloads tor re-host. now im gonna download pathologic 2, since i dont think they had the latest version.

is underrail (without expansion) worth it? base game looks expansion as-is.

and what about factorio? it's in early access, still worth playing?

>torrents
>in 2020

Or I can buy it and disagree with the contract from the start and do as I please buying something doesn't mandate that I agree and I have the right to my own property.

FOSS doesn't mean free. You can charge for distribution under GPLv3

I don’t hold others accountable for piracy, and I can understand its usage. I feel nothing from downloading DOOM 1 & 2 for instance, because all the original devs have moved on.

I just don’t pirate most games, partly because I enjoy supporting good devs, and partly because its too much of a hassle.

I’d also feel bad if devs made no money due to piracy. Good devs, that is. I don’t care if some shit developer who put no work in whines about it, but I do care if some small studio made up of 3 dudes and a housecat end up making a great game, since my money goes to a good cause.

It’s like how in some museums, you can choose the price of your ticket. If its some shitty museum or something then I’ll give a dollar tops, but I’ll happily give 5 dollars towards a good museum.

>ONLY FAGGOTS PAY FOR VIDEO GAMES

if everyone pirated why would anyone make games other than passion projects using their own time and money? granted some of my favorite games are passion projects like DF and Cave Story but I can guarantee most if not all of your favorite games wouldn't have even been made without profit in mind.

Shit like this is why I pirate everything I can. Even when I buy software, I only buy things I know I can easily pirate, I'm not going to spend money on software I can't functionally own for the rest of my life. Also, imagine being so much of boot licker that you would defend this kind of argument. What's wrong with you?

>I do try and support the release

Attached: file.png (192x239, 15.68K)

it's specifically not your property, user. The company is selling you a license to use their software, they're not selling you the software itself.
No amount of tantrum is going to change how it is. Feel free to voice your displeasure but don't act like your words can change reality.

My family's internet got shut off and my parents threatened to kick me out.

Nope, you actually don't. You're just stealing.

>Yas Forums is one person
by the way, the rightoids in your second quote don't play or pay for video games, they just raid Yas Forums because it's a classic tactic of the far-right to try and recruit lonely young men to their cause/cult

Pirating mentality is so fucking stupid. It's understandable to pirate a game that a company no longer makes profit off of, because fuck resellers they're the scum of the earth but to think you're entitled to a free game from an active developer of a game that is still being sold for profit because someone else bought the game and "shared it with you" is fucking childish. Get a goddamn job you Russian losers.

I have a job and I still pirate everything I can what about that

If it's on my device using the electrons in my bedroom then it belongs to me. Just because it's "illegal" that doesn't make it immoral.

Paying devs that make a good game will allow them to make more games. If they keep it up, I'll keep giving them money. When they stop, my money stops. Piracy levels the playing field when developers are less than honest with their products.

I spend my money on games so I don't spend it on alcohol.

You're arguing semantics and in the end it's the perspective with the most force behind it that wins. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, just pointing out that all your rationalizations will mean jack shit whenever COMPANY gets tired of your "stealing".

I'll do whatever the fuck I want fag. If I wanna buy a game, I'll buy it. If I wanna pirate a game, I'll pirate it. Your moralfaggotry has no bearing on my decisions.

Attached: no fear.jpg (400x266, 15.67K)

They don't have the power to stop piracy as a whole. Nobody does, it's a reality that comes with being able to reproduce a product endlessly with almost no overhead cost. People shouldn't lose ownership rights because of an inevitable quirk of the medium, and people like me will fight tooth and nail for them regardless of what technicalities are thrown our way.

then enjoy denuvo, always online games, and games as a service

Capitalism

That's never going to stick, because it isn't fun.

I don't pay for what I can get for free because I'm not a moron.

what's fun doesn't matter, money is what matters, and those things are what get people to spend the most money, gaming is leaving you behind

This, we didn't come here to be preached to.

AAA is drowning in it's own piss precisely because of that attitude. You can't make a good product when bottom line dollar is all you care about because it's easier just to scam people and nickel and dime them, every time. They're already losing money too, just look at blizzard and bethesda. That sort of attitude leads to unsustainable brand destruction in the name of short term profits.

that's capitalism for you, videogames will never be good under the system

It should never take more than an hour. Do you make 60 dollars an hour? I know we all make 300k starting with our math phd here, but be honest.

What do people use these days instead of torrents?

name one good foss game besides cave story

The Ur-Quan Masters

No arguments there. At least the japs and the occasional indie studio still have some passion left for the medium.

Under communism video games would be considered a bourgeoisie luxury and a waste of time, in fact that is exactly what happened to Tetris and the developer had to relinquish the rights to the soviet union and couldn't get it published for a decade.

not real communism, under actual communism people would be free to pursue passion projects with no deadlines, crunch, lowest common denominators to please, etc.

I buy the videogames I like and hope my sale will help encourage developers and publishers to make more games like it

As an adult with a full time job I have more disposable income than I have free time anyways so I don't need to play everything

>I hate american games!
>that's why I pirate and play them
wat. why not just not play it?

"Real gommunism" is utopian fantasist garbage and will never exist, what's to stop everyone from the next town over coming in and demanding a share of your resources?

the use of force, kill everyone who doesn't follow the will of the people, you'll get the gulag soon

So a state, so not real communism.

nah

How do you enforce the will of the people without a state?

I like free stuff

Attached: 1389003235851.jpg (1024x2300, 950.17K)

democratically

Real communism is sharing the labor. We all get to be Janitors, farmers, and assembly line workers.

real communism is assigning each person to the job that they're good at, game devs would be game devs, factory workers would be factory workers

It's more convenient for me and I'm not poor so I don't give a fuck about money spent. That said, pirates are fucking based. I'm just too lazy too bother being one.

What if the will of the people is to not live under communism?

Licenses are theft. I should be allowed to do what I want with my property without permission from some faggot in a suit.

That's what indoctrination's for

havig a job is even worse.
