Ironically, the less detailed the graphics are, the more immersive the game is.

Then how come Crysis is the most immersive game of all time?
has nothing to do with the graphics, has everything to do with level/environment design, atmosphere building, art design, and a million other things that aren't the graphics
it’s just nostalgia
No it isn't. It's soul. Everything before 2005 had soul of varying degrees.
That's not a castle you fucktard, it's a tower.
agreed
It probably hasn't grown into a full castle yet.
Same shit nigger.
Are the rumors about a brain diagram in Wet-Dry World true?
So, is Bubsy 3D the best platformer ever?
Retard
L is real, 2401
whatever fucking terminology you want to use, whomp became the foundation for that structure.
SA1 hit the sweet spot of maximum soul
Whomp blew up into little pieces when Mario ass-smashed him. He couldn't be the foundation of anything.
so much soul.
>Everything before 2005 had soul
Imagine believing this.
1. That's not a castle.
2. King Whomp isn't even made of the same material as the tower, so it doesn't even make sense.
3. Why would Whomp's soul even turn into a 1-up? That doesn't make any sense.
where? i just went looking around and didnt see anything
I think I agree. I liked it when the scaling was all wrong in older games, everything was bigger than it really was, it works perfectly in the games favor, it makes it more immersive and I guess dream-like in some weird way.
Modern games emulate real life too well, there's nothing left to the imagination, everything just looks how it should look and it doesn't really feel inspired.
It's true. Soullessness started in 2005 when you got shit like Johnny Test and Tim Burton's Charlie and the Shit Factory.
M64 is immersive for me in that the platforms in the air and skyboxes give it a strange artificial feel, like a dreamscape or something
Games with "poor" graphics are easier to suspend your disbelief with. With realistic graphics you more easily notice flaws and they suddenly become a much bigger deal.
That's just a meme. Things got worse in 2007, but a year before you already had Hannah Montana and High School Musical, neither of which could exist in a pre-2005 world.
The closest stuff to a post-2005 world thing you had pre-2005 was Lil Wayne and Lil Jon, both of whom, while having the least amount of soul, had slightly more soul than the things that came after.
because pic related.
unironically had soul in its own way. those old AVGN episodes were comfy
I would honestly take an LJN game over The Last of Us or Fortnite.
>I'm a massive contrarian! Look guys! That somehow magically makes me smart and interesting! That's how it works, right, Yas Forumsedditors?
Allegedly, there is a texture of the pic in the post you replied to hidden in the files of Wet-Dry World. I read a post where someone claimed to have clipped through a wall and they saw that pic.
It's just a rumor, but if it's true, it's really interesting.
I would hope the contrarian opinion would be preferring The Last of Us or Fortnite. Those games suck the meaty ones.
Yeah, LJN sucks. But their games weren't completely soulless like The Last of Us or Fortnite are.
6th gen was the last one that had SOUL
Yeah, 6th gen was the last old-school generation.
I always liked how uncanny and weird the atmosphere of this game is, probably because of it being one of the first 3D games. I believe thanks to this some urban legends of this game started to get really popular like the brain diagram in wet dry world, l is real, being able to mount yoshi and the masonic ritual one
I think it's funny, my hatred of modern game concepts has made me dislike anything that tries too hard to be "modern" and "next gen". For example, I dislike Horizon, Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption, Spiderman, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and other AAA garbage, while I have a many good things to say about games like Minecraft and Terraria. The good gameplay just matters more than the graphics.
when did you read this? me and others have been looking for info about the brain diagram for quite a while now
>their games weren't completely soulless
Yes they were, faggot. They don't have soul just by being old.
Pre-2005.
Imagine being 30+ and still posting here.
Stay seething zoomie. Sorry your generation will never understand soul.
Masonic ritual one?
where is it?
why is it?
1.4 when
Yeah, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Undertale is one of if not the most soulful games of the 2010s.
I know it's cool to piss on Undertale because it's "Tumblr: The Game", but it's genuinely kino. Give it a whirl.
just google "mario 64 masonic ritual" it's about how the whole game represents a masonic ritual, I think there was a whole twitter thread about it
Oh yeah, I've read that. It was pretty entertaining. I hope he makes a sequel.
? Switches of Rainbow Tower
Where is the bottom?
oh yeah, I was in that thread. the original source of the rumor remains unknown
I can’t say that about Celeste. Story is nice and shit, but the generic pixel art was really off.
what is the island in the distance?
Maybe Tiny-Huge Island?
According to fucking who?
Water Land
What's pretty funny about that Twitter thread is the guy's handle was "WesternIdentity", and it was posted to Reddit by a now-banned white supremacist named "BloodAndCum".
What is it with "identitarians" and conspiracy theories?
Cold, Cold Crevasse
Holy fucking shit. It's like I'm actually there. It's like this single .png is a going into the games machine.
autism.
One of the sound effects in the game is called "bowser-something", and it's actually the same sound effect as the old YTV bumper.

What if Mario went to the aquarium and someone had already removed all the coins? Would he be forced to swim around aimlessly until he suffocates and dies, with no way out?
I never noticed the whole render, can you even see the bottom ingame?
>bowser something
Sounds like Paratroopa from Tennis.
I see your point but I think it's more on artstyle
Does anyone enjoy the new-age graphics games try to push like for example Baldur's Gate 3 since that's the newest one I know?
So has anyone ever beaten the piano or gotten hurt by Dorrie?
Bowser may have attempted to enter Peach's backdoor :^)
