just bought an O+ for $200 to replace my first shipment 2016 Vive (that I never even got a DAS for), after missing out on the literally-one-second window of index availability. was really hoping to experience HL3 with the real deal but I just can't tolerate doing it this fraying old junk literally held together by duct tape and superglue, and especially not with those fucking wands and their worn out touchpads and triggers.

a base 980 is right on the line of the currently listed minspec, but that minspec is also probably a conservative estimate. unless there's some stupid bullshit like reliance on particular chipset features not found in the 9-series, you should be fine.

Get one of the last of the O+ currently going for $300 on Amazon. It's even better than Rift S.

Probably correct but if they were for the same ~$400 price it'd be worth considering the Vive just for the sake of getting into the SteamVR ecosystem (Index an upgrade path).

Absolutely no question. It's just objectively better in nearly every measurable way. Adjustable IPD, higher res panels with anti-SDE filter, better integrated audio, etc. The Rift S has a different camera configuration for slightly larger controller tracking envelope but it's still fundamentally the same inside-out tracking tech.

Rift S is a dogshit product that's just heavily shilled.

Honestly the main campaign of Boneworks was pretty shit imo, but then again I'm not really a fan of puzzle games so I guess that comes as no surprise. Alyx looks like an actual game with no gay puzzles so it's most definitely going to be better

holy shit I did not realize what kind of blurry mess everyone else was dealing with. When I first played skyrim VR it looked just like having my 1080p monitor right in front of me, crystal clear. There is no way people are playing it with screen door effect that bad.

It’s a great headset. The only issue is the tracking can sometimes not detect if you reach your hands all the way forward. That just might be me cause I’m a 6”3 Chad and have huge and long arms.
I’ve only played through the first 2 levels and I love it. It’s comfy.

I have a rift s and it looks nowhere near that bad, you can barely see the pixels. The camera is focused on the screen, whereas when you are in VR, because of the stereo effect the focal point is effectively beyond the screen which makes the SDE less noticeable.

They literally confirmed they have no plans on releasing the Source 2 SDK
