2 is fun.

1 is the best

Probably 1.

Just finished 5 on SOS for the first time. Admittedly I'm not great at this game but how the fuck is Nero vs Vergil possible without a revive, he has no answer to Vergil's devil form

Based

Spam Punchline

DMC5, by a huge margin

1 and 5 are GOAT, for me. The pinnacles of the series.

I had a bunch of deaths to Vergil my first playthrough and then won with Nero on my first try, so I dunno bud.

I think 1 and 3 are really good. I think 3 easily has the best story though. I feel like 4 honestly made the story kind of cheesy whereas I think although 1 felt quite cheesy as well, 3 was cheesy but also good at the same time. I know when people think Devil May Cry they usually think awesome combat but I think the story of 3 is actually kind of touching and really well written for what kind of game it is.

3

huge Love and Respect for you guys

The very first one on PS2.

5 is my favorite to play but 3 is peak storytelling. So many excellent moments, so many quotable lines, so many spectacular cutscenes.

3's story is serviceable. It's more that 4's story is so bad that 3 looks like a masterpiece for being corny yet not retarded.

it's still 4SE, once 5 gets the upgrade it will probably be that though

or if the Switch version of 3 comes to other platforms

The one and only. After that it's VJ as Dante.

Honestly don't have a single one. 1, 3 and 4 are at the top for me though.

Depends on what you mean by “story”. The actual plot/narrative is as much of a mess as any DMC (maybe a bit less just because sibling rivalry, but the whole Temen Ni Gru thing is a wreck) but the character interactions and dialogue are amazing.

3 is extremely quotable

I'd like 4 more if it didn't feel rushed/poorly planned.

I'd like 3 more if it didn't have so many poorly designed enemies and bosses

Thank you for this image user.

Been having a blast with the debug camera

Bloody hell.
Is this the debug camera from ddmk/style switcher mod or something else?

For me it's 1.

5 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 1
Fuck Kamiya and level design fags

1 is my personal favorite. I do enjoy 3 a great deal though. Both are in my top 5 games.

>worst Gears game
>worst Geometry game
>fucking Rengoku of all times
>Dreams
0/10 you tryhard faggot. I bet you're European.

That one pov Nero creation simulator. You know the VR game? Very high quality, nice detail, great voice acting.

It's a leaked debug build of the PS2 release. I'm sure there's a better way to get these results but it's what I'm working with right now.

>level design fags
Now it's not kosher to have good level design? You might want to avoid souls games.

>leaked debug build of the PS2 release
Got a link to that?

3 and 4 do not have good level design. 5 literally was perfect for abandoning that gay ass "Resident Evil" mentality by just having battle arenas.

battle arenas are banal shit boring

Gears 4 is your only hope today if you want to still play multiplayer and it's the best offering by far. 1 is dead, 3 only has TDM, 5 has no content and it's progression system is retarded. You won't bother backing up the rest of your claims so neither will I.

>but the whole Temen Ni Gru thing is a wreck
explain

3 is the first one I played so I automatically consider it the best one

If anyone can point me to the trial version of DMC3, or the first trial version of DMC1, both released only in Japan and seemingly hoarded by collectors, I'd appreciate it

DMC should be a metroidvania and adopt their level design.

Vanquish shits on Gears

You can get a lot of gameplay variation with just battle arenas provided you have good enough enemy design, enough enemy types, interesting combinations of enemies, and interesting 'arenas'.

There's definitely something lacking about DMC5 being almost entirely battle arenas, though.

shut up rocket knees memer. It missed that chance when a vs mode wasn't implemented.

So get rid of the mission distinction and just have one long seamless game? So like DMC1 but closer in design to a resident evil game?

I feel like balancing enemy encounters with the ability to roam freely around a huge map would be the most challenging thing.

It’s just not interesting. Devil portal hell tower with some magic and also a sword but a jester is seeking the power of an ancient demonic magic?

Honestly, it’s dumb. It’s okay that it’s dumb, it’s a pointless vehicle for driving Dante and Nero’s interactions (which are absolute kino), but they could have fought over anything and for any reason. A farm, a car, an ancient scroll, a magic dagger, a book, a cave painting, a note from their mother... it’s all fucking stupid. What matters is Dante and Vergil’s rivalry and their dialogue and fighting; the reason for that doesn’t have to be compelling, and it isn’t.

Thank you kindly user. This stuff is great.
I actually have both of these on my HDD, but I'll try to find links since my upload speed is quite bad.

>Dante and Nero’s
You know I meant Dante and Vergil’s

Actually DMC1 was meant to be like that at one point.

More or less, yeah. Any "missions" you'd get would be things like "get into room X of the castle" and you need to half fight, half trickster your way up/in.

>I feel like balancing enemy encounters with the ability to roam freely around a huge map would be the most challenging thing
Somewhat, but as long as the enemies have some resource you need and there is a mixture of open and narrow environments, some where you can run and some where you only can fight, that'd be fine. Some more aggressive AI would also solve the punching bag problem, so two birds with one stone on that.

You're a hero. Try uploading them to archive.org someday, they deserve to be preserved properly.

How did you like the drama of 4/5?

Attached: DEMO0.PSS_snapshot_00.15_[2020.03.13_06.13.11].png (512x448, 418.72K)

My favorite is 4

4

You could just do it like NG1 where there's still chapters and progression but you move from hub to hub.

Mostly yes, but towers are a symbol of arrogance and framing Vergil as someone Dante needs to work "up" to fight is also important.

Since 4 is your favorite, do you have a least favorite aspect of 4?

Attached: hm.png (918x753, 487.94K)

the fact that it's unfinished

1,3,4,5. How can you call yourself a fan if this isn't your answer? They all have their great moments, and moments you would rather skip, but god DAMN do I love those games.

Attached: 1580758580576m.jpg (1024x1024, 103.88K)

Not that guy but good point. Can't have all those shots of Vergil dramatically standing on top of the tower without the... tower.

>unfinished 4 meme

By that logic, most games that are released are "unfinished". Nearly every game has a plethora of content that's either planned, or considered as a possibility that gets radically changed due to budget, time constraint, and management decisions. Just the nature of the business. Capcom in general is notorious for this, but it's probably just because they are more transparent about they concepts they wanted to implement than other companies. Personally, when I played DMC4 for the first time, the Nero levels alone felt like more of a satisfying and complete experience than some other games I've played. The Dante playing the game in reverse, felt to me like a weird take on new game plus, but I was hype as fuck to use Dante to style on the game.

ok

Itsuno admitted they were given a ps2 budget for a ps3 game and due to that they had to make massive cuts like level recycling and extreme padding that's present in 4's campaign.

>given a ps2 budget for a ps3 game
Is this what he actually said? That's wild

DMC5 by a small margin.
