What did he say?

The energy crisis could be solved at an individual level and with sustainable, renewable practices. An energy crisis is a sign of unsustainable growth (a byproduct of modern economies and unchecked capitalism).

When you need Hell Energy to save your civilization, you know you fucked up somewhere down the line and you should be knocked back a few pegs before you get where you went wrong.

We need to CONSOOM Hells resources because we've reached that point.

It's funny because for most people Doom was indeed their first fist person shooter.

first of all, renewables and nucelar would be sufficient to solve their energy crisis, it's just a matter of infrastructure and politics.
Second, I find it hard to believe that they'd be able to use science to open a portal to hell, but wouldn't have the technology for nuclear fission.

Okay demon fag. We're gonna take all your resources whether you like it or not, it's what's always happened throughout history.

Why is Glados holding that sword?

Basically that he's not wrong and humanity's energy needs will always outweigh the risks and costs it takes to solve them.

But the only person who agrees with him is him and he can't see all the problems he's causing for everyone else.

I mean, you're not wrong.

Protip: you are demonspawn if you think hell will save you.

Renewables only work in very select areas. Nuclear isn't sustainable to run the rest of the world's energy off of. There isn't enough lithium available in the planet for batteries to take over the grid and transport.

It's not even really that but meeting those energy needs is either harder, more expensive, or both. As an example, humanity went to mars, but never did anything with the other planets or fabricate a way to make Venus' atmosphere either useful or habitable. It was just cheaper and easier to go to Hell instead.

Renewables work if you consume less

How did he know hell had infinite energy? Won't you need to go to hell first?

That will literally never happen unless all global trade is shut down and we let countries collapse back into smaller imperial states.

What this user said. Doom 3's story was more interesting in terms of UAC flirting with hell.

why does only hell exist in the doom universe? where's the heavens?

you've got it reversed, there isn't enough lithium for storage and transport for renewable energy, because renewables only work in certain areas, and only during certain times. Nuclear provides a constant baseline, there's no need for batteries on nuclear, and there's no shortage of materials for it

I can't, he is just doing his job and we helped him without knowing the endgame

You say that like it'd be a bad thing

I never caught how Hayden didn't notice Olivia's shenanigans, or did he just not care? Even if a demonic invasion would ruin everything.

Out of the four resource systems below:
>health pickups
>regenerating health
>heal button on cooldown
>glory kills
Glory kills are inarguably the best.
>you can strategically chain them together
>you can strategically use them for the iframes
>you can use them as a movement mechanic
>they stop you from backtracking through previously explored areas of the map looking for pickups
>they keep the flow of combat instead of hiding for 10 seconds to regenerate health or waiting for your heal to come off cooldown
>they help prevent you simply kiting enemies forever with your ranged weapons
>themeatically fills the role of being an aggressive demon slayer
>the animations are fucking awesome
Face it you fucking losers, glory kills are objectively the best resource system in the FPS game in existence. Boomers BTFO.

He got pretty fucked up in Eternal. So I guess the demons proved him wrong

He missed the forest for the trees.
As, he was too focused on his scientific pursuits to notice the Mars facility failing under demonic control.
The smart move would be having the entire Argent extraction operation being handled by machines.

Olivia's shenanigans were too well disguised in terms of current UAC activities. Level 3 UAC personnel were literally performing human sacrifices and hellish sermons in order to fuel their production of Argent energy. That was already a day-to-day operation thing. Olivia basically planning to release Hell on to the world seemed like she was just doing what she needed to do. You see those holographic cinematics when Hayden is questioning Olivia about her dedication to the work. He obviously doubted her strength but never had any solid proof of her intentions and hence let her continue. However once there was proof, it was obviously too late.

He can't even fucking do it right without getting thousands of people killed. Any energy harvesting from hell should be completely automated and not done by human beings since they either end up getting greedy and manipulated or just go insane and lose their minds.

Reading data logs makes it seem like he knew she would fail, even set her up for it. She didn't want anything to do with the project until Hayden sent her an artifact that essentially brainwashed her. It completely altered her work behavior and that was before she even took the job. He had to have known.

>For most people
Face it, Modern warfare 2 is what taught most of the currently living gamers to play shooters.
t: Star trek Voyager: elite force was my first fps.

This pic got some useful reactions

after he sends doomguy to some far away planet doomguy comes back to find earth covered in demons. clearly samuel couldn't harvest argent energy again without risking a demonic invasion. if there was some way to harvest argent energy without an invasion he'd be right.

This is also true and it's implied Hayden himself got changed by the work he was doing and once he was in his robot-body powered by Argent Energy he was essentially already a different person with unknown motives.

I honestly think my first FPS was TF2

What are you implying?

Attached: 1530334093255.png (540x718, 381.79K)

Maybe the robotizacion made him less human and way too coldly methodical so he failed to see how humans can fall.

Yup it could be as simple as that. However I think there are more sinister implications at play (i.e he was being manipulated by hell).

It literally was my first FPS

Well yeah mw2 is a10 year old game

...

>Haiden died and went to hell
>Instead of being tortured he said "This would look nice in a battery pack"

factually accurate

Don't have to. The demons seem to do a pretty good job of that in Eternal from the looks of it.

huh...well...can't argue that

Yeah, that's it. The shareware episode was the first game I had on my very first computer.

True

The fracture they discovered when they flew to Mars

>Take this energy bro.. you just have to make a deal with literal demons that are hellbent on killing/enslaving humanity

That's not Battlezone

Attached: 1377324092858.png (283x338, 16.58K)

>the entire human race is being torturerapemurdered to death by literal demons from hell because humanity could not stop consooming their funkos and they needed MORE ENERGY in the most hamfisted allegory for climate change and eco collapse possible
>HUH YEAH THAT GUY HAS A GOOD POINT HIS PLAN SEEMS SOLID
Yas Forums is hopeless

My first FPS game was NecroVision. Roast me.

>demon energy

The whispering tree says as much. Hayden is pretty much out for himself, neither man nor demon and the demons fear him, possibly even more then the Slayer himself. Hayden will be corrupted by the Crucible and will be the Slayer's greatest adversary and will appear after the Slayers greatest victory against Hell.

Yas Forums going mainstream was a mistake

There's no bastion of depravity these days.

In the end Earth got screwed...actually is in the process of getting screwed by the demons. Sure, Argent energy is all good and shit, but the thing is that sooner or later the whole harnessing from the depths of hell thing would've bore dire consequences. He had a lot of time to develop alternative means to mining argent energy, close the damn thing and switch to a safer energy source. BUT NOPE.
