Dragons Dogma

holy shit this game has potential.
if they polish up certain design edges (like menu jumping for usable items) and expand on the pawn system it could become such a great game.

Dark Arisen already feels like the perfect translation of DnD into a 3D, engaging action rpg. now get the alignments and a better presentation for story and characters and you have a potentially genre defining game.

i guess one can dream...

I remember hearing that the PC version lets you hotkey items.

NEVER EVER

Which vocation should my Pawn be if I'm maining Magick Archer?

the game encourages swapping around. if you are going to stay ranged though i would make my pawn a fighter and give him shield summon so he can distract enemies away from you.

Any physical damage class since you're the one with magic.

I made mine a fighter because I wanted a tank, but any melee would work out well.

All DA versions can

Fuck the pawn system. Just let me play solo or give me actual characters. I got so sick of having to constantly add new lolis and purple shreks to my party as I leveled.

you can play solo. you just have to abuse a few farming strategies for a bit if you want a smooth sailing.

>alignments

How about no? DnD style alignment system would do nothing but hurt the game.

Why the fuck would you cuck yourself out of the best part of Dragon's Dogma? the game won't be loved if it wasn't for the main pawn.

Just an adventure for 2, you and your pawn exploring the land and killing monsters.

Mage or sorcerer. You should probably play as these classes in order to prepare being a MK and you can freely switch around.
Anything else is what you get other pawns for.

What about Warrior?

I got two other saves so I can just hire my own Pawns, don't really need to rotate vocations like that.

>Mage
I'm not going to be level 30 forever.

You don't need to play through all of mage, except if you want that 10% magical attack damage augment, which you can get late-game with a trick. You also don't really need to play as mage in order to train your mage pawn, sorcerer works as well, since you share most of the spells. You can even switch to a staff as MK.

I don't want my Pawn as a Mage, a vocation that loses it's usefulness before you even hit level 100

You'll noticed that I mentioned two vocations.

and Sorcerer, but two magick vocations seems like they'll get fucked by anything with high magic resistance, or by Golems since you got to hit those discs.

I don't know how other players handle that, but I always take two magic vocations with me if possible. It's not like you are constantly fighting golems or that there aren't enemies that are a pain in the arse to fight with few magic characters. Magic in general is pretty strong, you can hardly have enough of it unless you are fighting very specific enemies.

Give us Dragon's Dogma 2 already Capcom

I’m playing this game for the first time and
HOLY FUCK is it good.
I’m playing Dark Arisen, so I guess I’ve got some qol changes over the original, and I’m on PS4, so no mods. This shit is so much better than The Elder Scrolls. I’ve literally been playing like 8 hours a day for the past 4 days. Everything feels so good, gameplay wise. There’s so much detail and care in the gameplay/world/story, and I love it when gameplay elements have fun lore explanations, ie. the pawns being explained as these non human entities from another dimension for the Arisen to command as an in-world way to explain them as basically being AI companions, and the game itself seems to be the “Dragon’s Dogma” ... like I know that’s a joke like “In the end, we truly were the Dragons Dogma” but this time it actually works extremely fucking well, as if the game itself is like a mythic text ... it’s amazing. I love this shit so much.
It also lets me make a gay muscle shota arisen/main pawn mage duo, and have tall warrior women and/or large black men in my party, so it’s basically the perfect game.

I love it when in-game mechanics are explained via the logic of the game world. Have fun user, this game is something special.

your pawn should be similar to you because it learns from watching you
your hired pawns are the ones you should use to compliment yourself

They do not learn from watching your actions, they learn from bestiary knowledge and inclinations.

They absolutely learn from you. For instance they learn how to deflect with a shield by you doing it first. Without that, they wouldn't know that this mechanic exist.

bless your stupid heart, user

any tips for an absolute beginner? the tutorial just sorta came and went, I kept on getting stunned after using my combos

They ill like fire.

Warrior or Strider?

I can't shake the feeling that every monster I fight could have some awesome loot that'd I'd be missing out if I had blinded then robbed em?

wolves travel in packs, arisen!

The game is about switching vocations often. Just try both. Both have good augments that help each other.

you could climb tall monsters, or you could bring them down to your level
the choice is yours and yours alone

THEY HATE FIRE & WATER BOTH!

>No indication of where roads lead
>No hint to what enemies are weak to
>No hint of when enemies are alone or in groups
>No warning to avoid status effects
>No clue to which items are masterworks
With what you mentioned, I don't even know how people can call this game good in any respect.

Depends on what you find fun, but you'll generally get more mileage out of strider because climbing around and hitting weak points on monsters is a core part of the game's charm.

dd2 this decade anons DONT FUCKING DIE

>tfw we will get DD2 at the height of capcom's renaissance era
it truly will be worth the weight bros

its still at least 3 years away though FUCK

After the success of DMC5, Itsuno surely has carte blanche to make whatever he wants...right?

Attached: dmc5_kicks.jpg (1101x704, 306.02K)

he said he wanted to do dd2 or dmc5. now that dmc5 is done theres no way he isnt working on dd2 right now

Even before being ported to PC people were dissecting the Pawn system, there was nothing for tracking player behavior.

Do I need to teach my pawn how to perfect block every possible creature?
>meet some bandits on the road
>pawn perfect blocks fucking arrows
>fight the living armor in the catacombs
>pawn never perfect blocks
>does an overall bad job
My pawn really is better as a warrior, despite the common perception that warrior pawns aren't that great.

Capcom are gonna announce a sequel soon, the creator said he wanted to make it once DMC5 and Resi remakes were done

Doesn't even tell you whether a tree is large or not.

GUYS WHAT THE FUCK
>playing NG+ on hard mode
>Get to the true final boss
>He’s Not Savan, he’s an old man with a lot of scars and sad eyes
I didn’t screenshot it, I was totally shocked. Who was that? Did I miss a significant NPC in-game?
Also I just started playing this game in January. Hot damn is it amazing, but I think I’ve had enough until DD2. I’ll let my Arisen rest and do his job

That was you

If dubs DD2 announcement in April

why did he look totally different from my character then? I changed my guy twice, but he’s always been the same shade of white. This guy was tan skinned and had blue eyes

Its only that if you play offline. If you play online instead of that its actually anyone

Fighter Pawn or Warrior Pawn?

explain why my 2h warrior pawn did almost nothing but jumping attacks after I thrashed everything in BBI doing the same over and over

Because they aren't complete imbeciles that need every enemy to come with instructions on how to beat it.

Oh that actually makes sense, I’m online
Cheers user

>THEY’RE

SInce you're playing a new cycle, you'll get someone else's Arisen as the seneschal mine is an old man with a lot of scars. If you play offline you'll get your last character

Welcome to the party, user. And remember, wolves hunt in packs

Fighter pawns are great if they become invincible perfect blocking machines, but I'm pretty sure you need to train them specifically to do that. Warrior pawns can get the job down by simple knocking down foes and being HP-sponges. Just don't give them the arc.

Why do you people like this single player Korean MMO I will never understand.

They have better taste than you

It's fun.

Thematically I'm going for a viking/Northern warrior vibe

thanks for the bump

Fuck outta here

t. brainlet retard

DDON private server WHEN?

FUCK YOU
ITSUNO IS WORKING ON IT
CAUSE IF HE ISN'T I WILL FIND WERE HE LIVES AND SHIT IN HIS MAILBOX

to play solo just chuck your pawn into any hole/cliff etc
