>game is really good
>devs ruin it with updates
what's her name Yas Forums?
Game is really good
TF2
Every Paradox game since EU4.
Darkest Dungeon
>people found strategies that make the game fun and bearable
>NOO THAT'S WASNT MEANT TO HAPPEN
>they gutted said strategies and made the game even more annoying to play
Vermintide 2
Came to post this. "fixing" the workaround players had to counter forced curio interactions was extremely telling for the childishly willful mentality of the devs.
Risk of Rain 2
Dota 2
Oldschool Runescape
Could’ve just said “Runescape”
>[insert blizzard game here]
tribes ascend
I'm referring to the 2013 release 'Oldschool Runescape'
Even the DLC was annoying as hell.
>What's that? You hated the forced act out characters do when afflicted?
>HOW ABOUT DOUBLING THE CHANCE OF ACTING OUT WITH THIS BRAND NEW DISEASE WE ARE ADDING??
>ALSO THE DISEASE CAN BE SPREAD TO OTHER CHARACTERS WHEN USING THE BUILDINGS MEANT TO HEAL THE HEROES!! SO REALISTIC!!
>DOUBLE ALSO! THERE'S A HARD AS FUCK BOSS WHO STALKS YOUR PARTY IF YOU HAVE INFECTED PARTY MEMBERS WITH YOUR FUN AND REALISTIC DISEASE!!
Right, but the entire reason oldschool runescape was made involved a shitty update.
KF2, either the update that added the EDAR or the paid weapon DLC, take your pick.
>hard as fuck boss
bad
Overwatch

this
>devs start relying on the community for balancing tweaks
>devs start listening to reddit
>10-20% of the playerbase uses reddit
>it's mostly dedicated players with 1k+ hours that want more grinding
>devs gather feedback from reddit
>devs start listening to youtubers
Crimson Court is such a noob trap, and not in a good way either. Not only does it dull the experience by replacing the usual diverse roster with the same four bug guys but the constant stress from having to endure RNG dice rolls every time a bugman attacks lands to see if he's gonna give your guys corona.
And then the only way to fix this is to go into a megadungeon that takes literal hours to fully explore? I shudder to imagine how many prospective new players just got burned out sloughing through the court with very little variance in gameplay.
Space Engineers.
Everwing
I don't care that is a Facebook game, I enjoyed it. Then they took away quests so you couldn't level up several dragons at a time. It essentially made the game nothing but grind
I just find it darkly amusing that Jagex was able to ruin the same game twice
Yu-Gi-Oh
Plants vs zombies 2
PAYDAY 2 used to play great at overkill difficulty before they added more bullshit and difficulties, basically making every enemy a bullet sponge and players completely reliant on the skill trees
I'm curious, how do you fuck up space engineers?
Make resource gathering too bothersome?
>devs only listen to discord circlejerks
>devs nerf and buff according to reddits whims
>game becomes a boring metafest with zero variety in builds

Darkest dungeon... the ultimate filter, such a great game, I love it.
WoW classic.
uncharted 2
The removed uranium from planets
nerfed ore spawns so badly it takes hours to find gold, platinum, and uranium if you find it at all.
"updates" are just shit they stole from the workshop and added to game.
"DLC"'s are just resources they've stolen from the workshop and added to game.
"No fuel" bug STILL in game
Nerfed O2/H2 generators so badly they output less then 40% what they did two updates ago.
Runes of Magic
No one ever talks about the Mean Greens, but the devs singlehandedly killed it just to bring it back a full year later. No one really knew about it at first so it didn't have a high playercount, like sub 150, and then with this tiny playercount the fucking devs decided "I know! Let's remove the server browser and replace it with matchmaking only!" and then the game literally died off entirely.
They brought the browser back and it gave them 1000+ players, but it died off with lack of support. The lesson to be learned is, FUCK MATCHMAKING AND FUCK REMOVING SERVER BROWSERS.
>devs remove weapon attachments to appease shitters on reddit
>devs remove weapon attachments from a singular character because youtuber said so
Ace of Spades
>what's her name?
Do you faggots even know why this is a thing?
Battlefield 5
unironicaly dota 2 after 6.82
100% Orange Juice.
The core game is still fine, but all the other grindy shit they've added over the years has just sucked out the enjoyment.
It's also basically just a free damage bonus if you aren't retarded.
Except for, y'know, the wandering boss that makes rank 3 dungeons next to impossible.
...
Hello Neighbor, unironically.
literal baddie
Overwatch
cube world, autist dev disappear for like 5 years and then comes back and ruins the entire game with a single update, then disappears again never to be heard of
I liked Dead Cells more before they overhauled the entire stats system. Haven't played it since.
>o you had trouble with THAT boss lol he's easy as long as you bring four jesters with this specific lineup and quirk/item combination
You ironic soulsfags are a cancer upon everything you touch.
the only game in recent memory that could scratch the itch army men left behind.
>in T3 dungeons
>wondering why you are being punished for not learning the game yet
???
S4 League
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Tribes Ascend, the game was a hit on Yas Forums during the beta and even led into the legendary Yas Forums/Reddit match where the Yas Forums players were considered the heavy underdogs yet came back to win anyway. After that, they started introducing new patches that slowed players down and made the game pay to win.
Shorter list. Name a game that got better with updates
There are many correct answers in this topic. This is the most correct one.
Unironically it was because the Yas Forums crowd was so fucking good at the game that HiRez HAD to put on limiters to make everyone equal, otherwise the skill gap being so large made it so literally no one wanted to pay for anything in the game because they'd just get owned anyways.
I fucking hate what they did. They even brought some of the old game back before killing it off.
the game literally tells you to disable crimson court DLC if you're inexperienced when you start a new game, what are you talkinga bout
fpbp
TF2 was 10x better without loadouts.
Nigga you dumb
Yeah, I see it now. Still fuck Hi-Rez for killing it.
Dark Souls
Smite
aha, no. the games are bare-bones and shit until they update, then they are just updated shit.
>devs listen and cater to autistic tryhards
If I ever make a game I won't though I'll take each and every tip, development proposal, comment and criticism I'll implement in the game only from Yas Forums and nowhere else.
Then if the game is good it's good, and if it's bad I'll at least have perverse pleasure lurking and seeing anons complain "why is the game such a shitfest?"
Rainbow Siege Six
Nobody follows advice like that, people play a game for a couple hours and think they know everything about it.
This is a saga I see way too often
> Game is really good because it's technical and rewards skilled gameplay which makes the game feel good to improve at
>Devs get scared that all the veteran players will drive off the newbies and limit the playerbase so they nerf the gap.
>Veteran players rightfully pissed that their time and effort now means nothing and it's not as fun to play, leading them to quit
>Playerbase diminishes massively until it's basically an empty shell
When your game is already niche keeping the current playerbase happy is more important than trying to attract a new audience that isn't interesting in your fucking game.
even more unforgivable was Tribes Ascend
I just wanted to go fast
Vermintide
to be fair i feel like all MOBAs start to degrade after a lot of time and updates. There isn't a single one today that is even close to it's original state
bloodstained
>what if instead of working on all the promised kickstarter features or fixing the jank port of the game, we put out a balance patch for an exclusively single player game because people are too retarded to just avoid using an obviously overpowered ability out of literal hundreds and then complain the game is too easy
Ordinarily I don't mind this, see Dota 2, its new changes have been fantastic imo, irregardless of if more people play it or not, because it makes a very interesting game and more people than ever have been watching dota 2. The international has been making huge fucking dollars.
Now, the real problem is when a company refuses to change shit. Tribes died specifically because they wanted to cater to the 80% of players instead of the 1% who are all from Yas Forums and were ultra autistic about the game, to which I can totally understand, but in doing so they effectively killed the game either way. You could argue Yas Forums was to blame with its community and high skill level for creating such a huge gap that they killed the game's profit margins, but I digress. The point is, in this case they were damned either way. Either betray the Yas Forumsfags and try to get money to keep the game alive, or focus on them as your main revenue source with proper, ethical practices.
Guess which fucking decision HiRez of all people picked?
Mordhau, game was good when it came out but starting attracting redditors who were complaining about the lack of playable females, now there hasn't been an update since last year because the devs have to model female variants for every single piece of cosmetic armour (of which there is a shitton) and the game has lost 90% of its playerbase due to a lack of any updates
