Fallout: New Vegas has many interesting weapons...but many of them often go without proper acknowledgement. I would like to dedicate this thread to the H&H Tools nail gun, for not only adding an interesting small arms alternative to the game but also providing a minor piece of lore!
it's from lonesome road, maybe you didn't play it.

this fucking thing i don't know why or how, i never take melee weapons or play high strength characters doing the ultra lux quests and get caught with no weapon, grab this off a corpse bearing in mind my .45 auto takes like 3-5 headshots to kill anything i grab this and i start killing everything with a single power attack it kills the fucking ugpraded robots outside in like three hits combine this with rushing water, slayer, aint like that now and optionally turbo or GRX with the day tripper and fast times perk and this thing will win the game on its own for you
Which is funny because it was supposed to be .22lr but no one liked it so it got changed to 5.56

Melede Weapons in general seem under appreciated, but this is my favorite late game melee weapon. I love the scavenged looking items that are just pieces of scrap metal (the legion’s lawn mower machetes are good too).
What do you lads think about co-op play for New Vegas? >sniper teams >berserker duos >heavy weaponed tanks blowing shit up It was a good decision to make.
Caleb Cook
>there's a unique Lead Pipe >there's a unique Straight Razor >there's a non-unique, craftable Recompense of the Fallen >there are unique Boxing Gloves >there are Throwing Knifes and Throwing Hatchets >there are Incendiary Grenades
There's a unique variant for most non thrown weapons in the game.
Christopher Parker
Is the super version of the fusion cell grenade where you throw like 10 of them at once and they scatter and explode individually underappreciated? Because I loved that and bought all the explosive upgrade perks to maximize it.
Matthew Lee
Abilene Kid LE BB gun
>deals absolutely insane sneak attack critical damage >decent crit rate >next to no requirements to use effectively >ammo is plentiful, cheap and consumes almost no weight
i always make a run for it at the start of the game
I just constantly forget about it. Why use it when I can sling a fatman?
Lincoln Perry
I remember using the named one that fires 40mm grenades at the area on the river with a mob of deathclaws, using the increased spawns mod so that it's basically wall-to-wall high level versions. I don't think there's anything in the vanilla game that's really worthy of using those weapons on to be honest, probably why they're underused.
Adrian Richardson
Because Fatman is shit that does almost half its damage as impact instead of explosion
Jonathan Anderson
This thing offers huge damage in the early game if you just use slugs and ignore buckshot.
>add a variety of unique weapons and gear to your game >also add a bunch of overpowered endgame items that are boring but effective >practically shove the endgame stuff down the player's throat as part of the main quest Why do devs keep doing this? I don't want to have to go out of my way to make the game interesting.
There are different animations depending on which way you're moving when you attack. Most will not realize this if they're playing in first-person while using melee.
Isaac Mitchell
Can you give an example?
Cooper Gray
this used to be the best weapon in fallout/fallout 2 for small arms characters, easier to obtain and more plentiful ammo than gauss weapons
Dylan Gomez
I wish that was a thing honestly >rushing in with unarmed while your buddy is covering you with a sniper
I used to call it the leg breaker because every time I used it I sucked at maintaining a proper range with it so it kept exploding in my face and breaking my character's limbs.
Jordan Thomas
The little rubber padding along the edges to make it easier to grip is an example of Obsidian's fascinating attention to detail.
Grayson Allen
based and legionpilled
Nathan Bell
No love for Pushy? No ammo, strength requirement of fucking two, and highest DPS for a melee weapon in the base game. I love this shit but it can be a bit game breaking.
>No ammo Only because they couldn't get it to work in time
Gavin Green
Yeah, that is a shame. I wonder if it's even possible with the game's engine.
Camden Myers
Greased Lightning power fist was so fun to use with the knockdown melee perks, rushing water, slayer, and chems. When under bullet time from turbo, I'd juggle multiple enemies in the air and when they died and the effects wore off I'd watch their bodies fly sky high.
Honorable mention goes to the police pistol from dead money I just liked its aesthetic.
Ian Davis
I loved incendiary grenades
Nolan Young
Because it's terrible against anything that's not a robot
