Outlawas was shit compared to other FPS from that time.
Fistful of Frags is more fun than Outlaws.
2.5d with sprites is peak soul
Level design. Enemy variety. Weapon variety.
redneck rampage was great
What wad is that?
This looks boring as fuck, couldn't you have picked a good one like Blood or something?
Because you fighting bot
I know thats not Doom but I just wanna say that Doom is a very flawed game. When people praise the exploration, i never get it. Explore what? Random hidden switches in samey looking room so you can go to another samey looking room and get some picks ups? Doom is a very boring game and its a shame it's original rpg version was not developed instead.
Adventures of Square
Levels were very repetitive tho, Doom levels for exanple had like 10 textures that were repeated forever. There was nothing interesting to find in Doom.
This game is terrible
>doom levels are repetitive because of textures
god i fucking hate people on this stupid fucking website, should've shut down in 2011
Blood has amazing level design, but its ruined by it's gameplay. I wish that game had been an rpg instead of an fps.
Secrets, references to shit in real life, finding stronger guns early than intended, etc. You don't have to like it but calling it boring is wrong.
Go back to fag fantasy XIVMMIII*5 fatso
ty
You best not be shitting on Turok.
Literary at no point in Doom is there anything interesting to find. All secrets just leads to pick ups. Doom is honestly a very boring game that got popular because of its tech.
>I wish that game had been an rpg instead of an fps
Is this the new epic meme or are you just forcing it?
@499298745
ok retard
This was the first game I ever played. I wonder why there's been a few threads about it. Not sure if I ever finished it.
I still remember the ayy in the outhouse. Blew my mind.
What would you put in your secrets to not be boring?
Who the fuck praises the "exploration" in Doom?
It's on steam if you wanted to try it again easily.
Turok is boring garbage with easy enemies and god awful level design.
>stronger guns
There are like 8 weapons in the whole game. Vast amount of secrets is juat health pick ups. A large amount of levels are full of repeated textures, with no context. Doom is not very good, it never was.
Wrong.
Lore, story. Some new interesting structures. Doom secrets mostly just a room with pick ups.
Can't get this shit to run properly. FPS goes to absolute shit after a few minues of playing
OMPF where is it?
>fast
>to the point
>no fucking mini-cutscenes for attacks or special movements
>weapons that do different cool things and serve a gameplay purpose other than being "obligatory" additions
>dense level design
>no cringelord writers trying to shoehorn in their bullshit so they can get an award for it
>Doom secrets mostly just a room with pick ups
If you pistol started like a real man then you'd appreciate those secrets a lot more.
Developers and publishers weren't creatively bankrupt yet
>game entirely based around the gameplay itself, movements, balance and labyrinth-like levels
>John faggot: "guys playing games is boring, I want bad exposures with audio-book instead!"
And that's how doom 3 happened
>no cringelord writing
Old FPS games are full of edgy tryhard shit, even Doom as famous as it is, looks like something an edgy 14 year old who listens to metal, would come up with.
Doom is boring user, accept it.
reading is fundamental
Not an argument. Thank you for conceding.
fun things are fun
Because they are more intense despite their simplicity. They didn't take control away from the player right from the beginning till the very end of the level, plus they didn't lock the player to combat arenas until every enemy was killed. These are the two cardinal sins that modern FPS suffers from.
play Alien Armageddon lads
>not liking tryhard edgy shit in vidya
>being such a gay baby you think vidya are SERIOUS and for philosophical essays
>Jedi Engine
Yeh it sucks that it hasn't received as much love as Doom or Build over the years. XL went completely silent and no-one has taken up the mantle yet.
>i am a manchild who has no self respext
No, thank you.
Gamepads. Unless it’s for a vehicle they’re inherently bad for navigating a full 3D environment, all the ‘autoaim’ features are proof of this.
dont bother trying to argue with holes
Saying "the enemy are easy and the level design is bad" is not an argument either. It's a conclusion that comes after presenting your arguments and examples.
At least it’s only some paragraphs, it’s light enough to the point where PSX Doom’s and Doom 64’s atmospheres actually work.
Duke and Shadow Warrior are cheesy, Blood far less so, Unreal and Quake weren’t at all so the “””edge””” varies.
>underage/sōyboi thinks that vidya can be elevated to the same rank as actual culture
>probably never reads anything and mastered only one single tongue like a good mutt, but mentions self respect on the topic of the consumption of fucking video games
this looks good.
why wont devs implement gyroaiming ?
I speak two languages and i very likely read more than you, retard.
Xbox doesn't support it and I'd assume devs fear alienating people.
Normies would hate having to adapt to something like that, and still nowhere near a mouse.
>lock the player to combat arenas until every enemy was killed
I really don't understand the complaining about this. Is it because you can't do ebin speedruns where you try to run past most enemies in your "shooting" game?
Picking up keys is not interesting.
The switch of all things actually supports it on a decent number of games.
I'm infected with covid so STFU or I cough all over your family, fag
Abuse it baby
>and still nowhere near a mouse
It absolutely is.
It's not quite there but it's pretty close.
I don't know. The most modern fps I've ever played is TF2.
you speak THE TRUTH!
turok aged terribly. SOrry user. I had fun with it on pc over 2 decades ago but it isn't replayable like GOOD games like duke, doom, blood, quake1, farcry and so on.
the maps are shit, the enemy design is meh, the jumping is terrible, the maps are REALLY shit
only fun thing is camera, some weapons anddd fact that you can be sanic, and that AT THE TIME, it kinda looked coolish.
Keep coping low iq retard.
Only thing coming out recently that’s anywhere close to mouse are VR motion controls. I judge a shooter control scheme based on how well you can react to anything around you no matter what angle it’s at you.
I’ll have to experiment more with gyro but it still can’t come close to mouse precision.
i really wanna enjoy blood but its too fucking hard
Are there any multiplayer fps with guns before 1850?
I've been using it close to four years now and I can get pretty fucking close to the precision I have with a mouse. I also use a Steam Controller though and the touchpad is far superior to the stick for large and fast movements. Haven't tried flick stick though, that might help if you're using a standard controller.
Also keep in mind that the tech currently is likely a bit underdeveloped when it comes to precision. Mice have been tuned specifically for gaming for like two decades now. Gyros are still mostly made for fucking smartphones.
I could never get into Outlaws, it looks like shit. And it looked like shit even when it was new. Would rather play stuff like Dark Forces.
Outlaws is one of the ugliest FPS ever made, not counting Rise of Triads.
Don't forget to catch a copy of your favorite fps on your way out gaylord
Absolutely true and not-blinded-by-nostalgiapilled
Yeah, it's fucked. Jedi Knight is kind of a bitch to get running as well, glad they went with the Q3-engine for the sequels
