Replaying Dark Souls

>replaying Dark Souls

Every time.

Havel gear + Zweihander + Grass crest shield is usually my go to

How about you just learn to dodge the projectiles?

You can easily beat 4 Kings with a light build you just need something to increase stamina regen and probably DWGR wouldn't hurt either, you just have to play aggressive which most bosses don't want you to do, you only really need to poise tank for NG+

Talk about you favorite/fun builds you do in any of the souls games. I want some new ideas

When are the map editors coming bros.
After 10 years of playthroughs I'm itching for more than just swapped enemy placements.

You can easily beat 4 kings with the elite Knight set by hugging them.

Did you play daughters of ash?

Watch Emarrel's SL1 NG+7 run at 4Kings to see how he deals with it, you can basically copy that if you don't want to just use havels.

Four kings are easy as fuck and I don't understand why people have trouble with them. Just fastroll through their big ass slow sword swings. If they throw the homing projectile just run and eat it with the crest shield, if they do their big aoe again just crest shield it. If you don't do enough damage somehow use power within. When you kill one of the four kings keep hitting them until the model completely despawns and you'll keep doing damage to their health, I usually only have to kill 2-3 kings to win.

>get the itch to play dark souls again
>finish anor londo
>remember why I only played this game once
It's so close to being top tier but the last third sucks

I liked lost Izalith

Some people like eating other people's shit. What's your point?

Sorceries only. No weapon.

Do a SL1 run

Is it enjoyable or just for bragging rights?

Thought I'd post in this thread so I don't waste a better thread. Got sekiro this evening and I'm getting filtered hard by this fucker. I get you can set him on fire to cheese him, but I just cannot seem to mikiri counter him. The rest of the game has been a breeze. It's the second diving grab that gets me every time. REEEEEEEEEEEE HOW DO I KILL THIS BITCH inb4 gitgud

Mikiri counter only works on thrust attacks. It doesn't work on other perilous attacks.

haaahaaa funny
What a epic post

>havel
>zwei + grass
Get out, faggot. Giants, giants, giants or nothing.

Fuck off, Grimcuck, and stop shilling your fucking retarded fanfiction mod. I'm about to make Lee look like a fucking joke.

It's for retards, so once you finish you will regret deeply the time you wasted on that meaningless shit.
On the other hand, if you are a retard you will be deeply satisfied.

Then what's the flashing kanji when he does the grab? Fuck. If you're right then that's where I've been going wrong. How do I deal with the grab dive? Also thanks user

Only Lost Izalith is bad.
Nito and Seath areas are good.
Bosses take a fall with Seath and every boss every boss on the way to the bed of bullshit but nito and 4kids are cool as well as Gwyn which is an absolute highlight.
Not to mention the amazing Painted World and DLC.
In conclusion, it's more 'one fifth of the last third sucks'

git gud scrub
4kangz is actually easier going naked with the crest shield

I did dozens of 'challenge runs' and replays but I don't think I killed Ceaseless Discharge a single time legitimately. Not once.
The cheese method is just too damn easy, you'd be stupid to not do it

All 3 types of perilous attacks (swipes, thrusts and grabs) have the same kanji.
You gotta read animation more than anything. Most enemies only have one type anyway.
For the Ogre, he only has grabs which need to be dodged (with a few exceptions later in the game.)
Just jump out of the way and hope for the best. I found that quick dashing to the side of him whilst keeping close kept him from hitting me. Add in crackers and fire combined with a stealth strike and he goes down easy.

>tfw no more dark souls

goddamnit bros, they are the only games I even play anymore, flawed as they may be

I just find them so endearing and fun, I've ran through DS1 to 3 at least ten times now and I love it every single time.

I wouldn't mind more sequels just to fill the void

I fought him properly my first time cause I didnt know about it.
Fight sucks. As far as I'm aware the only way to deal with him as a melee build is to bait his sticky load and hit his limb on the recovery.

Have you played Demon's Souls?, might save you from going hollow on the wait for Elden Ring.

I'm playing through ds3 and I dont like how every enemy is so aggressive with combos but your character is still slow as fuck but rolling is way more spammable to compensate

Thanks user I'll have another crack at him tomorrow then

I think making a sekiro thread will give you more answers.
But, you cannot use mikiri counter on him because mikiri ONLY works on red kanji thrust attacks
the red kanji attacks are called perilous attacks, and there are 3 types of them:
Thrust = Deflect or use mikiri counter
Sweep = jump in the air and stomp on their head for big posture dmg (a skill later on allows you to do this more effectively)
Grab = GTFO away

The ogre only uses grab attacks as his perilous attacks, so when you see the red kanji, jump backwards or dodge sideways.
You can cheese him with a stealth deathblow too, don't forget.
Flamethrower + oil are your best friends for this fight, but I would also advice you to get the firecracker prosthetic, as it will help you immensly throughout the entire game

The friecracker is a hidden prosthetic tool that is sold by a merchant in ashina outskirts, the merchant resides at the top of the huge cliff, the challenge is to try getting there

But I would advice making a sekiro thread if you need more help

To be fair, I seriously doubt Elden Ring will play like Dark Souls, if anything it will have its own little twist to the formula like Bloodborne. I rather get more of the same.

It's such a shame we don't have proper modding tools for fan made content. These games would live forever.

why is this so common games are usually great at the start but halfway turn to shit or just really god awful

Good luck, and remember. Hesitation is defeat.

Try dodging casual.

>but I just cannot seem to mikiri counter him
Mikiri counter is for thrust attacks. Ogre grabs. Just stand a little bit away from him (still close enough for him to trigger attacks). Then, if he does a normal attack, you can dodge it and hit him a couple of times. If he grabs, sprint away from him to avoid it, then come back and punish with an attack or two. Slowly work him down.
>Fire
If you've got the fire prosthesis he's not to hard to cheese. Throw some oil at him, then use the above strategy to fight him, but set him on fire instead of attacking with your sword. When he's wailing around on fire, you can get 7 or 8 hits in.

woes of game development

its a shame Dark souls 3 didn't try something like the Chalice Dungeons in BB. Yes they were flawed, but they undeniably brought untold hours of new content for players who were still hungry for more

Even with Old Hunters, Bloodborne feels fairly short and low in content. Imagine if instead of having chalice dungeons the dev time was spent on building up the main game even higher than it already was.
I feel like people wouldn't be so hungry after playing that version of BB. More reasons why no proper modding capabilities is a tragedy.
I'd kill for a Dark Souls mod that polishes off the bells and whistles, fixing it's bad areas and bosses, adding even more connections and shit.

Save up 30 humanity and use the bridge to skip Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith. There, you've skipped most of the bad shit. Catacombs, Tomb of the Giants, New Londo Ruins, and Dukes archive are all okay zones. Nothing amazing, but not awful. Crystal Caves is the only other truly shit area.

Critics tend to base judgement on early impressions. You get better ratings and thus better sales with a strong start and weak finish as opposed to the inverse.

is BB really shorter than the others? I honestly didn't realize

Is forest covenant still active on Remastered?
Or is my dialup internet just not pinging other players?

Players too. If the start is solid most people will play a game, and probably finish. Fewer people are willing to slog through a terrible start to get to the good shit

ds1 is dead on all platforms

I believe its shorter than Ds1 and Ds2 but I dont know for certain.
All I'm saying is that the pacing feels a little rushed. Imo too many areas are optional. Its be like if the golden fog gates of Ds1 were open at all times but the game ended with you being taken to the kiln after Anor Londo. Get what I'm saying?

run out of time to finish the game properly. also, just stop caring because the game has become a bloated pile of feces.

i dont get this. I beat this guy just by dodging and attacking like in dark souls. The dude on the horse with the spear gave me more problems. I havent gotten very far in the game though if there is a harder chained ogre somewhere.

>I havent gotten very far in the game though if there is a harder chained ogre somewhere.
Yeah, but only due to geography
>i dont get this. I beat this guy just by dodging and attacking like in dark souls.
Most people have trouble with the Chain Ogre because the first few enemies, including the Samurai General, teach you to play in a certain way and then the Ogre is a sudden "surprise, soulsbourne boss" enemy that requires to completely change your strategy. There's a few other bosses like this, and most people seem to have trouble with them when they fail to adapt.

I just love health regen and miracles so I can be kind of reckless. Sanctus and the Server is a great combo. And you just know I'll be taking a sippy if I get the chance

On my first playthrough I used the Silver Knight set and it was pretty easy

>NG+ in Dark Souls
>Get to 4 Kings
>Run at full speed towards the nearest dude to get into melee range
>5 minutes later, another dude spams
>Im still nowhere near the first dude, he keeps going backwards or something
What is going on?

Belmont run. Whip, miracles and consumables only.

With the homing projectile, can't you just run enough and it eventually missed you. I don't remember having a problem with this boss with my STR+DEX build wearing little to no armour so I could quick roll. Like you say, I don't understand either lol

??? its fun as hell. i only do lvl 1 playthroughs now

pc still has 1500 players on average.

>adding even more connections and shit
Like what? I think it'd be a good idea to make the second half more interconnected, but the only one that seems realistic is Tomb Demon Ruins, but IIRC, in the actual map layout, the two areas are on separate sides of the world, so it doesn't actually make sense to do that.

get the server and evil ring early then take estus out of your inventory

I finished the base game (no DLC) in like 28 hours. I used a guide near the end game to find some stuff I missed but basically ignored chalice dungeons. Not sure what my completion times were on any of the Souls games but I’m certain they were longer.
