No. I think the sprite one works better because it shows more of Metal Gear's history. There are too many dumbasses who think the franchise started with MGS1 but in fact there is a deeper history and I think the sprite model really shows that more.

Who knows what can happen. We're talking about the most important and influential FPS franchise ever. In a game that's called a "celebration of gaming", I don't think simple observations such as this is jumping the gun. Sakurai has talked about John Carmack and his influence in the past. because of 2 reasons. The Street Fighter 2 design is the one that the Ultimate render is based on. You may say

Unlike Snake, everyone knows there is a Street Fighter 1. That's why it's called Street Fighter "2". In the case of Snake, not that many people know the series existed before the PS1 game and I felt like that history should be represented rather than just iconic one. It doesn't really matter but that's the mindset I went with. it's exactly why I chose Pac-Land Pac-Man. It perfectly represents both classic and modern whereas Snake would only really represent that era of Metal Gear.
