The animation quality is pretty decent during action scenes but the almost all the VAs mumble and it bothers the shit out of me. How they deliver words and how their mouths are animated do not match and that really bothers me to no end.

The Los spin offs are fine. As spin offs.
Los1 and Mirror of Faith are pretty solid. Los2 gameplay is superior to Los1 and the castle phase/Alucard dlc are pretty good. But the modern day phase (that were forced by the director that was hated by his team) were pretty bad.

Mirror of faith has one of my favorite incarnation of Simon Belmont.

Don't forget to play the dlc of Los1. They are very important.

Officially licensed = canon. Canon is not required to be consistent. It just requires you to specify where the canon originates from.

Canon works like this. Absent any previous explicit mention or reasonable inference to contradict a new fact that is revealed, that new fact is considered canon truth across all depiction of that IP. Since Alucard was never explicitly mentioned as being strictly straight in any of the previous entries in the series, Alucard being depicted as bisexual is now considered canon because it appeared in an officially licensed adaptation. Therefore, unfortunately, Alucard is officially bisexual in all adaptations until explicitly depicted otherwise in which case the fact will either be retconned or officially contradictory as in an acknowledged difference in adaptations.

In other words it's exactly as people are reacting. Alucard is bi now. That's what happens when you give someone the authority to create new canon by handing out the license to make official work. Any new facts they decide are now facts across all works under that IP until contradicted.

LoS1 was good and probably the best 3D Castlevania, even if it was Castlevania in name only. MoF was mediocre but tolerable enough. LoS2 was awful. Outside of art direction (for the castle stuff only) and the camera it didn't do anything better than 1.
