That doesn't matter anymore. Nick was supposed to be a far worse person but that was cut as well. He replaced the Francis role, and arguably did a job that's on par. His chemistry with Ellis and Coach were pretty great.

According to a couple other anons in the last thread, like half of her dialogue has cut. Which is why it seems she has no personality. She does, they just got rid of it before the game came out.

Probably for the best. The character as he is now feels like someone who wouldn't wanna associate with these people, but does so out of his own interests. I don't see how it could work if he was far worse as a person.

Tonally L4D2 kinda felt all over the place. On the one hand they tried to make it more wacky, not as dark and full of shit like KIDDYLAND and etc. And then on the other hand, it takes itself more seriously, the cast has a small amount of conflict and there's a thought out story that bridges all the campaigns together. It tries to be both "kill all sons of bitches" kind of action movie fun, but also has a "these ain't zombies, someone's been shootin' people" kind of theme at times. I like the idea of having a balance between both, but the way it turned out just felt lacking in either direction. Especially given how the characterization was cut from the game and how dull the game felt in terms of atmosphere. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if any of this was due to playtesters. Still one of my favourite games though.
