Goddamn why is DR1 such a better game compared to all the other ones?

dunno could be because you fixated on DR1 and groupthinked that any of the other ones aren't as good

post godtier boss themes

Cringe. DR1 is undeniably the best.

>thought it was going to be the usual 'PTSD-ridden veteran who can differentiate between reality and fiction'
>he mentions his granddaughter when you beat him
>the war... it wasn't over
It was simple but effective.

They aren't as good. 2 and OTR are good just not at DR1's level. 3 is bad and I haven't touched 4 but I don't need to.

Unironically pure unfiltered SOUL

Because DR1 was made by the seasoned veterans at Capcom. The rest were outsourced to a much less talented and experienced game studio. It’s just a fact.

Damn Capcom was ahead of their time with Paul the incel

>dr3 is bad
what an amazing 4channer opinion, totally not a groupthink zombie

>ignores the steak you threw and munches on your head for the 20th time instead
Nothing personnel

I can't really speak for the later games but 2 was cool. It just played up the whacky stuff too much and was less focused than 1.

I remember going back to replay DR1 after the disappointment that was DR2 and being surprised to find the game was a hell of a lot less fun than I remembered it being. I tried to push through but it was just fucking tedious and the writing was no longer funny, it was just bad. I stopped playing. I came to the conclusion DR was just a gimmick game with no legs that happened to be released at the right moment to see a reasonable amount of success and a convenient meme status but never should have been a franchise. My conclusion is objectively correct.

It was more focused than the others. The game was actually a dark story with talked some themes like capitalism, comsumerism, society and the goverment. Also had a better level desing. I can put you any screenshot from 1 and you will recognize the place, unlike with 2 that everything looks the same A shame the gameplay aged kinda badly. If they made it with the controls from 2 it would be KINO.
2 may not be as good as 1, but is still pretty damn enjoyable. I liked it that it took himself less seriously. If 1 is a 9/10, 2 is a 8/10

2 was still great though.

Dead Rising 2 is a basic remix of concepts and setpieces of Dead Rising 1 but easier and with a few gimmicks like TIR(RIP) and combo weapons. Every other game focused on those gimmicks and focused on creating more which radically changed the style of the rest of the series.

>capcom allows you to save him
and forgive him unlike others psychopaths
based capcom giving redepmtion to incels

Let's dive into why DR2 and OTR isn't as good
>Weaker characters
>Almost every item is now very effective against zombies
>Crafting system that prioritizes grabbing 1-4 of the same objects to make 2-3 custom items ad nauseum
>Boring boss fights
>0 photography
>The unique zombie gameshow is entirely relegated to a dead multiplayer
>Overpowered bonus weapons way too easy to earn
>Zombrex way too available
That said I do still like dead rising 2 and I even like Chuck but it doesn't hold a candle to DR1. DR1 at a lot of moments throughout the first playthrough gives you a sense of dread and helplessness, if you see a huge horde of zombies you are already pre-planning your route and traversal. In 2 if you see a large horde you're generally just going to blast through all of them with no problem

I always thought that was hilarious.
>threatens to murder two women in one of the most painful ways imaginable
>Ah I don’t know what I was thinking I’ll never do that again
>promise you’ll behave and I’ll take you to safety
>ok

I played 1 last year and I live despite the controls. You’re a little full of shit desu

>launch game
>finish tutorial mission and get to my first safehouse
>in its inventory there's 100 weapons ready to use that instakill everything around me in a 5 meter radius

Reminder that these "I'm against 'contrarians' so that means I'm smart" retards are the lowest of the low when it comes to NPCs

DR3 isn't as bad as everyone says but the game is indeed a jilted mess and you're fuckin high if you think otherwise. The games get progressively worse in order

>>Almost every item is now very effective against zombies
Who ever did anything but just run/dive/jump/drive/etc. past the zombies anyway? The biggest failing of the franchise has always been the zombies are so irrelevant 90% of the time they may as well not even exist. They are basically set dressing, not gameplay.

based snowflake

Yeah I'm not saying it's bad. I just think 1 sells its premise the best.

>Canon Order
1
Case Zero
OTR

Thats it

>>Weaker characters
Fucking disagree. Chuck was corny as fun. Rebecca? More like RebeCOOM. The same the twin whores. Hell even the security guy have more charm that the bald guy that appeared last minute in 1
>Almost every item is now very effective against zombies
Nah, a lot of items are still shit
>Crafting system that prioritizes grabbing 1-4 of the same objects to make 2-3 custom items ad nauseum
I agree with this
>Boring boss fights
I disagree a lot, I remember fondly how hard the toy psychopath was
>0 photography
It really isn’t that much important in 1 besides 1 side quest
>The unique zombie gameshow is entirely relegated to a dead multiplayer
Nitpicking, but still right
>Overpowered bonus weapons way too easy to earn
Agree
>Zombrex way too available
Agree

In DR1 it's necessary to run/dive/jump/drive. In 2 the zombies are so easy and nonthreatening that you don't even have to bother with it, but if you choose to so much of the map has raised surfaces that zombies have a hard time getting to that you'll have very little challenge either way

I agree. He was the only boss that I thought seemed like a human being in the end.

DR1 is arguably a perfect game. If you change or remove or replace mechanics with others, the overall experience is damaged. Making the survivor AI better would make it trivial to save them and ruin that tension escorting brings. Having Frank control better would take away from that feeling of being some average Joe. No time limit means no stakes and everything can be done in one run when the games are designed for replays.

but Case West goes off of the canon ending of DR2 and is sort of how DR3 comes into play

>I remember fondly how hard the toy psychopath was
Jump kick

I would agree with you but the aggressive zombies makes managing the completely retarded survivors unfun.

>Kill zombies
>Get exp
>Can do side quest easier
Also sometimes is hard to pass the zombies without getting bitten AND is the context, i doubt DR1 would work with aliens or robots instead of zombies

Pure Comfy.

Don't get it flipped, I'm not trashing the game. I like DR2 and OTR, I still do one playthrough of either one every few months. It just makes a lot of concessions that make it better for general audiences while selling out alot of the first games charm. Also Slappy is fucking cake due to the overabundance of food and powerful items in the area and I'm not autistic enough to self-impose using only the shittiest weapons when you can craft a lightsaber or nailgloves out of shit from just about every store

Well thank you for making me feel retarded user

Damn, this is actually pretty fucking cool.

>Making the survivor AI better would make it trivial to save them and ruin that tension escorting brings.
>Having Frank control better would take away from that feeling of being some average Joe.
2 didn’t have those and yet it was still hard to save people

>In DR1 it's necessary to run/dive/jump/drive
The only thing that is necessary is diving through the zombie groups that crowd around some the doors. Otherwise you can just run, Frank automatically pushes zombies aside for you and the ones he misses the game slides magically across the ground anyway. The game generally goes out of its way to NOT have zombies be much of hindrance. DR1 is just as guilty of that poor design as the rest.

>WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I-I think that’s the joke, user

Its ok, my cousin who was 7 at the time explained it to me

youtube.com/watch?v=6byu9rKjBg8

How the fuck are you supposed to tame this fucker anyway?

WEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

There are 3 steaks in the enclosure.
Throw them down sort of between you and snowflake and as she runs at yous she -should- stop a nibble each one till her health bar is full

Because it looked at the timer and bosses as actual obstacles, not as chores it had to pat down for the player.
It's a fucking miracle that Dead Rising happened. It's even weirder that the Mighty Number 9/Clover Studio Killer guy is the only reason it happened as well as it did.

>No time limit means no stakes and everything can be done in one run when the games are designed for replays.
The game was not designed for "replay". It was padded with level grinding which is not reset when starting a new game. It's such blatant padding I'm shocked anyone would be retarded enough to defend it. It literally achieves nothing but artificially extending play time.

You can also stock up on steak in the Food Court (easily just go through the food court before getting to Snowflake's casino area.)

Just have a pile of steak between you and her.

>Don't get it flipped, I'm not trashing the game.
I’m not angry, I also think 1 is the superior point. I just disagreed with you in some points like the characters.
I think the DR 2 is more a spin-off than a sequel 1. It tried more to do is own thing with different characters and setting, and didn’t improved anything besides the controls and the AI

>Goddamn why is DR1 such a better game compared to all the other ones?

Dead Rising 1 is like a spiritual successor to Resident Evil in terms of game design, and not just in terms of zombies. The main focus of the game is not zombie killing, but rather time and resource management. The game might have wacky weapons and over the top psychopaths, but at its core it's a game about completing objectives as efficiently as possible during a 72 hour time frame. It's a fantastic game to speedrun because the game rewards efficient play and knowing the mechanics/locations well.

The sequels focused too much on the over the top shit because "those crazy gooks sure make wacky games!", thus completely missing the point.

>but rather time
Fair enough
>and resource management
Fuck no. Resources are all over the place and they can all be triggered to respawn infinitely with ease. It's trivial to stock up on the most OP shit in the game and you don't have to worry about conserving anything because it's trivial to get more. This is not a spiritual successor to Resident Evil design philosophy. It's practically the antithesis of it.

Resources are not just items, it's the shops themselves, its routes; hell time IS a resource.

Capcom pls

You still have to manage them, even with the unlimited amounts. Use up too many bullets and you're out mid-fight, too many hits and you waste a food item.

I've got great news for you. It's a dogshit multiplayer focussed arena that isn't fun to play

Cant look at that game without thinking "this is why they made 4 the way they did"

Off The Record should've been the canon sequel, Cuck Greene was a terrible protagonist.

>Regina
I remember when this ad first appeared and I hoped that maybe, just maybe, the presence of Regina meant Capcom might look at bringing back Dino Crisis. Apparently they weren't even considering it and still aren't. Oh well.

I know DR has silly stuff in it
You can dress up and use all kinds of silly weapons

But at its core one thing I think the newer ones lack so much is a serious tone
DR1 made the zombies and time a real threat you could feel how doomed this town was
The way everything has broken down could be legit intense with survivors fearing for their life’s and psychos having legit mental break downs that made them a real threat sure they had funny moments but they still felt like insane blood thirsty killers

In contrast the new don’t take anything seriously
Everyone is making shitty one liners
No one treats the zombies seriously
And the bosses are fucking jokes where you could never believe they are real people who had a mental breakdown

>can't bring trolleys in or out because there's no sliding doors
>even if there were all the entrances to North Plaza are accessed by stairs
I'm surprised the mall even lasted 3 years.

To be fair North Plaza was still under construction, maybe something would have been made.

The only thing I could see benefiting DR in terms of a remake is the map is one giant cell, so no dodging through doors to escape via loading screen.
