An unbelievably mediocre game with even more unbelievably undeserved praise. I can only assume a lot of it comes from genuine children. The story is "high schooler tries to write a funny fanfic" at best, the characters range from mediocre to just fucking gay or annoying, the gameplay is laughably bad and easy, and the game calling itself an "RPG" is pretty disgraceful. It's one of those games where you can immediately tell it's appealing to the lowest hanging fruit, you know, the kind that like shit such as Homestuck, Steven Universe, etc. The music was alright but apparently most of that was just stolen so go figure.

I think you'd genuinely just have to be dumb to like this. Firstly, it isn't even a fucking game, this is the moviegame garbage in the worst capacity since it's that interactive movie kind of thing that TellTale does except even worse because the choices are somehow even more meaningless and there's not a single gimmick that makes anything about the game stand out. The story.... LOL. How can anyone praise the story in this wretched fucking game, my god. It really gives me 6th-grader vibes, some edgy little fucker writing in their diary on what they think their later teen life will be like. It is absolutely insufferable through and through, none of the characters are likeable (and no, it doesn't matter if that's on purpose because the story doesn't present anything interesting to you about them to make it justified or worthwhile), the setting couldn't have been more generic and the plot was such a disjointed mess it's amazing they ever arrived at an ending in the first place. Speaking of which, what kind of fucking limp-wristed little mongrel do you have to be fucking CRY at that embarrassing ending? Genuinely some of the worst examples of forced melodrama I've seen in any fiction. Some of the hipstershit songs were good, most were bad. Overall a fucking awful, awful, awful "game".

Furi. I'm probably bad at the game. I got annoyed by the first guy and completely fed up with the psycho laser unicycle. I dropped the game without beating her. Every Furi fan I talked to about it said that the first two fights are the worst. Honestly, if the first things a game presents to players are shit, it's likely that the game is shit.

I just like playing mages or tanky characters in RPGs. The dragon flaming the bridge was stupid too, I approached the enemies on it carefully and burned to death. Sucks if there are more things like that.

Not him but my peeve about older games is the lack of autosave. It catches you off guard when you fuck up and lose three hours.

If it's an RPG it's usually fine because your first build was probably shit anyway. If it's a shooter it's usually the end of me playing.

I love alien vs predator classic but they didn't even have normal saves when they first released it.

The world is just so ugly and black, I know that's the point but it's a fuckin video game and if I'm gonna be playing one for hours on end I want it to be at least minimally aesthetically pleasing, otherwise it's not worth the eyesore. Slow controls and framerate are not fun either, so there goes its last redeemable aspect. Also lol at its "story." I'm convinced most non-Souls fans have to put themselves through Stockholm syndrome to find it remotely enjoyable.

not by Yas Forums but I'm always tired of hearing The Last of Us get special treatment as some bold messiah of gaming when everything about it is painfully average (besides the visuals for the time I suppose)
the story is what people praise most, which, for a video game that happens to regarded as one of the best GAMES is pretty funny but whatever. but the story largely just rips off from other works and uses the zombie setting and TONS of zombie tropes then acts like it's above it all, which is what annoyed me the most. they just use all the same shit that's been used in every other piece of media since forever which whatever would've been fine but it's the way the game acts so super super super serious and self-important, like it's being really "big" with what it's doing in it's story, that annoys me. none of the characters are that interesting, I mean they really just end up being the same archetypes you would come to expect. Joel was just the rough and tough disillusioned cynic who of course is paired with Ellie, the naive but headstrong and resourceful. never seen that pairing in anything ever btw! most of the encounters they put you in with the clickers even have almost 1:1 recreated "jumpscare" moments you'd see in some horror movie. not to harp on the unoriginality too much, but again it's just that it didn't do anything actually interesting with those tropes despite pretending like it was going above and beyond them.

anyway as far as the actual fucking GAME goes it was also painfully mediocre. just boring third person cover shooter for most of it. the crafting and stealth stuff could've made it more interesting but neither is really fleshed out enough nor dynamic enough to make it feel necessary. funnily enough, the multiplayer of this game is where it actually shined, it was super fun and the only time I enjoyed myself.

the music was very good, and the visuals.

I'd still say it's not a bad game. just super mediocre which is worse when it's praised so hard.

I hated underrail and I don't even now why. It has all the trappings of something that I would have normally enjoyed, but I just didn't like it at all and I'm not even sure why.

I did know LiS was moviegame, yes, but I didn't know it would be that thoroughly awful at being one. You can be a moviegame and still be a good game. Or even if you don't wanna do that, at the very least tell a competent fuckin' story. Until Dawn could do it, some TellTale games could do it.

The story was booooooring as FUCK. But the multiplayer kicked ass. I had fun yeeting people's faces with bats.

I was actually thinking of the first NieR when I made that post. I remember hearing for years how the combat was awful but the story was amazing, and then when I finally got around to playing it I thought neither was true. The combat isn't half as bad as I saw it being made out to be and the story, though it had some good moments, really didn't grip me. The novelty of how the game is structured and it's OST are really good, and I still do think the story is probably above average for a game, but I wasn't that crazy about it.

Also, I feel similarly about TWEWY. I think it's a good game, but a lot of the time when people talk about TWEWY on Yas Forums they're absolutely head over heels for it, but it didn't get me in the same way at all really. I admired that they managed to make the combat unique and fun without feeling gimmicky, but beyond that nothing about the game impressed me too much.

Stalker is a janky fucking game. The higher the difficulty the higher damage ALL guns do. So you'll die faster but so will everyone else. This shit comes up every time someone talks about stalker. Play on master.

Also, I guess if you don't enjoy any niche games you're likely a casual pleb piece of shit. So it sorta works?
