both both OP4 and BS remakes are back in development

Wait, it's dead? I thought they merged Blue Shift and Opposing Force so that development would go faster?

looks like shit, runs like shit, but seems fun

Why does it run so bad?

Works on my machine

you guys alright?

>Kazillion polys wasted on the gun model

Sasuga indie fuckers....

It's a mod

Operation Black Mesa is not dead, Tripmine Studios has never been working harder on it and Guard Duty

is that from a youtube video?
why is it so muddy and washed out?

You didn't get filtered by the conveyor belt section, did you user?

It's because That's because you're basically playing as Polnareff's stand (Silver Chariot) while aiding Kakyoin in his fight against The Lover while the two of you are inside Joseph's brain.

Should I wait for 1.5?

If you want. The quality gap between Xen and everything before it is massive.

Haven't tried the remake yet but I'm curious, how much did they actually improve Xen? Is it actually good to play or is it just pretty looking?

are u retard?

I lost most of my will to play after that fucking never ending nightmare that was the Gonarch chapter.

I was stoked for a boss fight, but instead got saddled with a tedious puzzle sequence and stupid hive tunnels with no actual boss fighting until the very end when he went down like a chump to a couple of rockets.

I walked into Interloper and havent played since.

I seriously didn't expect that part where you stand on top of the egg and get pulled to the side to dodge machinery and lasers

that's deep

I cannot play this game with the current sound design, its just so utter trash it just kills the entire game for me.
Is there a way (a mod or something) to reverse the sounds to the original?

So many people are into Black Mesa that it's making me think I have something wrong with my brain. To me this looks garbage, I really don't get it.

You're not alone, lad, i cant get over the low quality of it, either.
It looks ugly, and sounds even worse.

>I have something wrong with my brain.
yea you're a zoomer.

But I like Half Life. Just the visuals of Black Mesa look terrible to me, especially Xen, especially especially fucking Nihilanth

It's not like I'm going to tell you to start liking it.
I thought it looked amazing for a source game and Xen getting some serious fleshing out from the devs was a really pleasant surprise.

Attached: 6.jpg (1920x1080, 437.02K)

Source always looked like shit.

Have they fixed On A Rail yet? Maybe instead of indulging their egos by making Xen eight times longer and duller than it needed to be, they should've worked on that.

Anybody saying any variation of *oomer needs to commit suicide.
Do the world a favour, and kill yourself, end your life.
I can give you some pointers how to kill yourself in a fun, painless way.
You may be retarded but there's no reason for you to suffer.
Kill yourself.

Get lost, reddit.

I really like it. The Gonarch's lair is 10/10

cope
>Just the visuals of Black Mesa look terrible to me
looks good whats your problem? not enough anime shit?

There's been a mod out that brings OAR to its original lenght for litterally years user

Interloper in Black Mesa is looking really shitty. I don't understand their art direction in that chapter and some of the textures are like from 2004.
t. guy who otherwise enjoys Black Mesa

Interloper is the weakest link of Black Mesa yeah, although I loved the final elevator fight

Careful you'll summon the anti-HL2 anti-BM autist who wanks to his WON copy of HL1

How long has it been?

+10 years for a modding team to turn into a dev studio and bring out a noteworthy first title.
It was worth the weight

>Interloper chapter

I liked it

an 8/10 is massively above average though, and that description isn't wrong in any means considering the project started in the mid 2000's iirc, isn't there already another remake of half life in the works for UE4?

Me too. I thought xen and gonarch were shit but I liked interloper. It does drag on a bit too long though.

>Only a handful of those instances made me facepalm over how obvious the solution was – much more often it’s been more like, “How the heck was I supposed to figure that out?”

>Just like in 1998, they too frequently freeze the action as you’re walking down a hallway for around five seconds, even on an SSD. This is an engine limitation the Black Mesa development team at Crowbar Collective likely had no way of working around, but it still makes it feel very old because you just don’t see that kind of thing anymore.
did this nigger just say video games don't have loadings now?

Attached: 23.jpg (1920x1080, 326.26K)

>he went down like a chump to a couple of rockets
Really? I played on normal and he took a fuckload to take down.

Modern games with Black Mesa's scope wouldn't have loading screens which randomly freeze your screen in the middle of an unassuming corridor. They'd do some fancy airlock-streaming or just split the game into much larger levels.

I too saw the gggmanlives video and am a huge fanboy, BRO

Well, yes, at least in confines of one chapter. Level streaming has been mainstream for more than a decade, you know.

Attached: 24.jpg (1920x1080, 429.41K)

He's a retard. There is no game with a sizable map that doesn't have loading screens. Some just mask them with really out of place long corridors or long door opening sequences or elevator rides.

Black Mesa has a special meme status so people let the issue of years outdated visuals slide. The new dynamic lighting is pretty damn cool though. BM is honestly a great accomplishment if you know anything about the difficulty of making games.

no, I don't know.
I only know there's been AAA games this decade which didn't let you get inside a wooden shack without a literal loading screen (sometimes a VERY long loading screen) and saying source's 5 second (seriously what kind of shitty SSD does that guy have? my game barely stopped) "feels very old" is just plain dishonesty or ignorance, or both...

>what is any plane sim ever

I wouldn't say the visuals are outdated. The source engine is definitly old but the level of detail they've been able to achieve with it is quite an achievment of its own
