How does Mario Odyssey rank with SM64? Galaxy? Sunshine?

How does Mario Odyssey rank with SM64? Galaxy? Sunshine?

It’s the worst 3D game out of that list.

Why do games have to rank? Why is everything a fucking competition to you dumb kids?

Sm64 > odyessy > galaxy 2 > 3D World > fresh human stool > galaxy 1 > sunshine

>The recent Switch Exclusive is the worst!

Top kek very first post. Never change and never give up lol!

what's wrong with comparing things? not everything exists in a vacuum

From some one who actually plays these games and isn't a redditor parroting you tubers:

Odyssey > Galaxy 1&2 > 64

3D World > 3D Land

3D World > Odyssey

>and isn't a redditor parroting you tubers
Holy cope.

Only a brainlet is okay with Wii waggling simpleton controls of Galaxy and thinks they're superior to 64.

64 = Sunshine > Galaxy > Rancid dogshit > Söydessy

You're a redditor parroting youtubers, the ones that kiss ass to daddy Nutendo for review copies like Arlo not the good ones like Anderson mind you

comparing things =/= ranking

God tier:
Galaxy, Odyssey, Galaxy 2
Great:
64
Good:
Sunshine
Who cares:
3D World/Land

3D world and 3D land aren't the same kind of mario game though

Odyssey is my favorite 3D Mario game.
This is my list:
Odyssey>SM 64>Galaxy>Galaxy2>3D World>Sunshine>3D Land

ranking is a form of comparison..

In my opinion

64 > Sunshine > Galaxy > Odyssey

I don't know why, but 64 and sunshine controls feel so much better. maybe I'm just a boomer

Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1 > Sunshine > 64 > Odyssey > 3D World

But honestly, even the 3D Mario games lowest on this list are still good.

Best 3d Mario.

Might be my favorite control scheme for Mario yet, he feels really good to control.

However, I think it has shit level design and they bloated the number of collectibles to absurd levels. Between this and BOTW I'm convinced Nintendo has a vendetta against people who like to 100% their games.

Also thought the capture mechanic was not that fun. They're just power-up suits with extra steps.

It's on par with Mario 64 imo. Better than Sunshine. Not as good as the Galaxy games or 3D World.

What do I know though, I seem to be the only one that thinks Mario is better as a linear athletic game instead of a sandbox scavenger hunt.

I think they're all fantastic games though. Haven't been disappointed in a 3D Mario yet.

not really, it's just listing off the things you like in the order that you like them. comparison is more pointing out similarities and differences. ranking can be an opinion formed by comparison, but it is not a comparison in itself

time to kys

galaxy 2>64>odyssey>sunshine>galaxy

does the wii u have a decent emulator yet?

Anyone who puts Galaxy before 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey is shitposting. The most important thing in a Mario game is Mario's movement and the Galaxy games completely butcher his basic movement, available moveset, and momentum.

64 > Odyssey > Sunshine > everything else

Attached: 1561277102786.gif (500x384, 950.62K)

Sunshine doesn't though?

That's why they are on the second line. But in terms of "fun" 3D World just felt really fresh and better than Odyssey imo.

Also if you guys didn't play 3D World on the actual hardware just fuck off. Your opinion is irrelevant.

>redditors are seething

Yeah it sucks if you're SHIT. Galaxy has much tighter control than 64. Literally only troglodytes afraid of waggle hate this game.

Odyssey > Galaxy 2 > 64 > Galaxy > Sunshine

Sunshine just fucking sucks. It's barely a Mario game. You literally never die in any stage unless you're incredibly retarded (because there's nowhere to die unless you fall down Pianta Village) and the game is so rushed and incomplete that shines had to be rehashed, and blue coin padding on top of that.
Not to mention how fucking clunky and slippery the physics are.
Anyone unironically saying Sunshine was the best is just a gamecubefag blinded by nostalgia.

Odyssey has the best controls.
Galaxy has the most comfy setting.
64 has the most TECHNOLOGY.

If you're so bad at superior 64, perhaps you should get gud, redditor.

No, you misunderstand. I'm not bad at Mario64. I'm saying Galaxy has tighter and better athletic action. Especially when you get that nigga Luigi.

Galaxy 2 = 64 > Sunshine > Galaxy > Literal dog shit > 3D World = Odyssey

Odyssey> 64 > Galaxy 1 > Galaxy 2 > Sunshine > a big fat turd > 3D World

Never played 3D Land

>t. YouTube parroting redditor

>Galaxy has the most comfy setting
>not Sunshine

Sunshine sucks because it took the liberty of SM64 star-collecting and made it into a linear, objective locked fest that got even worse with Galaxy.

In SM64, stars were pretty much scattered over the age and you (mostly) could just get any star in any order anytime. It barely had mandatory stars that you had to get first.

Meanwhile, in Sunshine, you ARE forced to gather THAT shine from said specific episode and nothing else. You hardly have any freedom to do a shine early because they just don't spawn in the stage.

Also fuck Sunshine for kicking you out of a level after gathering 100 coins instead of letting you gather 2 at once like in SM64.

"tighter" as in no fucking momentum

Based
How can you like sunshine that much? It recycles itself constantly because Nintendo was poor at that time (which is also why wind waker was unfinished and ends with a fucking map quest with half the dungeons missing) and is janitor busywork. FUCK sunshine. Also Peach is drooling mouth brain damaged in sunshine, holy FUCK is she retarded.

Retarded reasons to say a game sucks. Kill yourself

Sorry that I don't like Skinner's Box games. Most of Odyssey's moons are the same tier as blue coins in Sunshine.
3D World is a 2D mario with a 3D paint

Odyssey>64>Galaxies>Sunshine

I would argue that level design is just as important as his movement, and the sandbox games don't really have great level design save for maybe the ones near the very end of 64, the FLUDD-less levels in sunshine, or the short platforming challenges outside of the sandbox areas in Odyssey.

The Galaxy games are peak Mario level design. He doesn't feel that much worse to play than he does in 64, he's just missing a dive.

In my opinion:
SM64 > Sunshine = Odyssey > SM64DS > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1 > 3D World > 3D Land
I heavily prefer good movement and more opened level design in my 3D Mario games. I may be able to swap both Galaxys and the 3D Land games around though, going back to Galaxy 1/2 is really hard for me now, especially with my grown dislike for motion controls over the years.

>The Galaxy games are peak Mario level design
it's all fucking corridors

It's not as tight as SM64 but I think its peaks are higher. It's a much more consistent game than Sunshine. Galaxy is harder to compare it to; I prefer Odyssey but I can see why others might find the Galaxy games to be the best of the bunch. I need to replay SM64 and the Galaxy games, but my ranking would probably be something like

Odyssey > 64 > Sunshine = Galaxy 1/2 > 3D Land

I haven't played 3D World. I like all these games a lot.

>How can you like sunshine that much?
Well
>Unique and comfy setting
>Good missions
>Good music
>Cool secrets
Only thing that makes me sad is having to beat Shadow Mario in all stages before you get to Bowser

>The Galaxy games are peak Mario level design
Literally proto-3D World and not in a good way thanks to the floaty jumping going against the traditional platforming design.

i mostly agree with you, though idk. my first playthrough of odyssey i thought it was the best in the series hands down, but replay value isn't quite as good as most mario games, which is probably due to the 'too many moons' factor more than anything

it also has shit level design with empty, overly huge stages with nothing on them.
Obnoxious backtracking too.
And poorly implemented features like Yoshi too.

Agree here. sunshine levels are all too big, perspective is fucked. Feels like playing a HL1 ratmap

>going back to Galaxy 1/2 is really hard for me now
I remember when Galaxy first came out I was adamant that it was the best Mario game since SMB3. But while I still think it's a great game a lot of the flourishes are kind of annoying and make the game feel bloated despite the linearity of most of the game's levels.

>Odyssey has best controls
>Half the buttons are mapped to the same actions because 1% of the playerbase wants to use a single joycon
>Because of this a ton of actions are tied to shitty motion controls.

Definitive ranking of the 3D titles right here

That's why I like 3D World/Galaxy more.

Odyssey >64>Galaxy >Galaxy 2 >3D world >3D land >>>>>shit >>>>>>sunshine

Fucking good. I don't need to run around in a pond following a trail of music notes I just want to do some platforming. If I want to explore I'd be playing an Adventure game, not a platformer.

Pretty sure Galaxy introduced the music notes but ok.

64≥3DL>power gap (havent played the galaxy games yet)>Odyssey>3DW>Sunshine
64 is a far better and more important game than 3DL, but I enjoy 3DL more. I used to consider it my favorite game ever for a short time

Odyssey damaged my already tenuous relationship with Sunshine and the Galaxy games simply with the things it doesn't do.
>no lives system means no meaningless pickups or game overs
>deaths are quick and pop you back almost immediately so you can try again, game doesn't have to bombard you with clown farting and TOO BAD!
>not completing a minigame or a task doesn't result in Mario being so overcome with shame that he keels over on the spot
>isolated areas have an entrance and an exit, you're not stranded in them until you collect something to exit the area
>Mario is incredibly sure-footed and you're rewarded regularly for going out of your way to go where it seems like you can't, instead of every mildly sloped surface being covered in butter
>no more leaving a level after you grab a collectable, especially bad in Galaxy when the trip back into a level was at least a solid minute of watching Mario fly back to the observatory, have the star count go up, then go back to the menu, select the galaxy, fly to it and THEN get back to playing
I still like them, they're Mario games, they're packed with likability, but I'm never 100%-ing any of those games again if I do replay them.

64 >odyssey > sunshine > galaxy

Odyssey > 64 > 3D World = Sunshine > 3D Land = Galaxies, for me.
In 3D World, I find it really fun to just pick Toad and blast through levels, still going for Green Stars but not slowing down.
Odyssey's controls are so fucking good, too.

64 = Odyssey > Galaxy 2 > Galaxy > 3DWorld > Sunshine > 3DLand

FACT

On par
On par
Significantly better

How readily emulatable is Odyssey for a 2018 tier PC?

Galaxy 2>64>Galaxy1>Odyssey>Sunshine>3D World

Maybe in a few years. Don't bother trying yet Switch emulation still ranges from mediocre to horrible.

It's not ready for someone too dumb to post exact specs when asking such a question.

Shame.
