yeh he seems cool
>What? The great clockwork dick is stumped?
It's synth detective, jackass!
>man
He’s a filthy synth. Nothing but a toaster that parrots human behavior.
it’s impossible not to love nick
He was cool but I prefer Deacon
He's been alive for 200 years and wasn't an infiltrator synth. He has a personality all his own
All the Fallout 4 companions are great, how the fuck did Bethesda manage that?
Why was he in that band of losers? He was the only one in the Railroad that outright killed infiltrators.
>believing a machine can have a personality.
Just because it’s lifelike doesn’t mean it’s alive.
>Game with less Role playing
>Has best Bethesda companion in it.
I swear Todd is like Duality when it isn't Fallout 76. Nick and Hancock.
He literally built up a personality from experiencing life like the rest of us.
don’t come groveling to us when you find out you’re on the wrong side of history user
Synth activity detected. The robotic scourge will be eliminated. This thread is now under the control of the Brotherhood of Steel.
shut the fuck up todd they were all one dimensional evangelists
developing abnormalities in his personality subroutine is not having a personality. Does your computer develop feelings if you leave it on all the time?
I destroyed the Faggothood of Shit in my game. I'm 200 years out of time, they don't get to tell me what to do.
>Befriend character
>He gives you an annoying fetch quest
>You do it anyways because he's your pal
Also, why didn't they do anything story-wise with the bits of Kellogg basically living inside of Nick after the memory den shenanigans?
My computer isn't as advanced as Nick's head.
Probably the most human character in the game. He sees that the world is a shit hole and laughs it up anyway
How we doin’ on the hunt for Eddie’s tapes?
Because Bethesda's lazy and their writers are incompetent, user.
Best peace of advice a companion can give you. Too bad the game goes out of it's way to make you trust people.
Good character though.
It's getting there, now take all of this water and come with me to go sell it.
What are your thoughts on paladin danse and his true backstory?
He’s a bro and I shot him in the head with out hesitation.
Why do you need to grind out caps when you get them easily just by exploring? Do you have a mod that adds more expensive stuff to buy or something?
He only got interesting after you found out he was a synth, than nothing happens, no real character development or anything from it if you let him live.
Machines can’t feel. They can only mimic it.
Confused me further on the Institute's bullshit if they were planting synths THAT far away and also the reasoning too.
Nick's brain is 1 to 1 with a humans in every respect. The modern synth is literally a human with a single override component in their heads.
So I modded the game quite a lot, sex mods, have real world weapons replacing all the shitty pipe guns and I got bangable robot maids in my settlements. I don't know where to go from here, keep feeling like I'm never truly done modding and don't want to progress too far into the game, but I'm also already at like 100 nexus mods into the game not counting the 1~10-20 additional mods from the games own modding section.
Not even new voicelines, he keeps talking like he's still in the brotherhood
Would play a spin off detective game with him tbqh
>repair skill removed (with all others)
>settlement building: oh you want to build a crafting table? hope you're quite the local leader (rank 2) :)
fallout 4 is gay and fallout 5 will be worse
You mean his “brain” is capable of processing data at human speed and his coding to behave human is good enough that it fooled you into thinking he was alive.
You could clear an easy 2,000-3,000 caps an in-game day just by putting up a few big water purifiers, collecting the spare water and selling it to DC/GN vendors.
And it’s still better than New Vegas.
yep
Like i said whats the point of collecting all those caps if you have nothing to spend them on unless you’re outfitting an army with equipment for some weird reason.
i bate the fact that the miniguns are shit in FO4. I really really do.
>Hundreds of bottles of pure water between my settlements but I can't use it in any of the cooking recipes because they specifically demand DIRTY water
Why can't I cook with it? Does dirty water give it some kind of zing? Why's there no recipe to toss some dirt into a bottle of pure to make dirty water, instead DIRTY WATER of all things ends up a rare valuable commodity for me because I have to scavenge it, or buy it from traders who only have a few at a time.
It IS nice to give your settlers decent guns so they're actually effective during attacks instead of just filling the hills with the echos of two dozen pipe pistols.
in survival you can collect water in bottles to make dirty water. not sure why it's not in normal mode. possibly the superfluousness of eating anything but yeah it's dumb.
It was pretty straight forward
his brother is cooler.
>out of touch plays in background on pipboy
I like how despite him being a synth, everyone in Diamond City respects him and are completely fine with him living among them. It's also proof that people can accept synths if they weren't body snatchers for whatever the Institute's goal is.
Well, Nick is overtly a Synth, not one of the Gen 3s that are replacing people.
I wish I could find dialogue on how he dealt with his initial encounter with humans. Something about pretending to self destruct it was funny shit.
>all the best companions are robots
What did Bethesda mean by this?
90% of the story budget went on him.
People are shit
Robots are cool
sweetheart robot is one of the best tropes in all of media
Can't argue with the facts.
It really is, so is the gruff detective à la Zenigata. Nick is just a two for one with that trope.
I like dogs
The companions in that game were great
Except for fucking Preston. God I wish I could tear off his fucking head. What were they thinking? He single-handedly ruins the minutemen faction with his dumb fucking face and his stupid ass comments. He is so bland, so boring, his VA is absolutely awful and only serves to make his personality even more snoozeworthy. Power armor and a minigun at the very beginning of the game was bad enough, then they had to throw Preston at you, it was enough to nearly make me quit right at the beginning.
Minutemen are the vanilla faction, it makes sense for them to have the most boring character
Your options for factions are
>Boring military group with the worst companion character besides Strong, who delegates everything and turns you into an errand boy despite making you the new leader
>Burger King Kid's Club who helps the poor oppressed robot people get to safety out here in this hard, unfeeling world, instead of helping actual people with all their time and resources, and maintaining an air of secrecy despite being found by following a literal line and solving a puzzle you'd have to be lobotomized not to figure out
>Knight LARPers in power armor that want to hoard all the technology and destroy anything new because it's bad, mmkay. Ironically get the most done in terms of claiming land back from raiders and wasteland abominations
>Actual mad scientists who live underground and create things with free will so they can make them slaves, despite the fact that they already made brainless robots to be slaves and don't need new ones, also gorillas because
>With the DLC, criminals that are split into three equally annoying groups, the snooty fuckers, the furry fuckers and the edgy fuckers, and appeasing them requires settlement building back in the main game
You can't win. Everybody's a bunch of huge morons and they all suck.
>play FO4 a couple weeks after launch
>hadn't paid any attention to the story pre-playing
>wow father is the son haha good one todd what a twist
>join the brotherhood because they're the only faction that gets shit done
>brother-in-arms Danse goes on mission after mission with me
>go back to the Prydwyn, Maxson losing his shit
"Go kill that fucking synth, Danse."
>actually surprised by a twist
>go to find him
"There's nothing more to say. Do right by the Brotherhood. I should be the example, not the exception."
>feel fucking awful but tell him I'll do it
"I've never been prouder of you than right now."
>blow his synth brains out
How did Todd manage to make me cry during one of his games? I don't understand it.
