I think the overall sentiment is that if GF really put work into their game we'd be seeing monumental numbers, but the Pokemon fanbase is so whipped they can push 16M with zero effort so there's no point in putting in effort.
The amount of money they COULD make going insane with work on the game doesn't really matter if they can still make billions off of a blatant asset rip made in a year. Pokemon IP is just that big.

I planned to be in the used group but after seeing more of the game during the leak I decided to skip it entirely.
