Geno is cool, I don't get why people want Crash so bad. Other animal humanoid characters already in, already got spin moves, etc. Crash has no neck, and Tomba is cooler than him in everyway, but I see no Tomba bandwagon.

I don't think it makes sense to push for Crash just because he seems iconic anyway. His moveset potential doesnt seem like it has anything too new to offer. Also he doesnt have a neck and that always bugged me.

I think one of the biggest points for his inclusion is the absence of his mii costume. What possible reason could there be for not re-releasing it by now? If they're not gonna make him a playable character why not just slap that shit on the e-shop for $0.90?

do you think they will tweak Geno's design, if he does end up as a playable character? I feel like all the mock ups I've seen give him a short cape based strictly on the official art in the manual, but his sprite in game does look like it has a slightly longer cape. Idk, I'm wondering what liberties if any they might take with updating his design.

I've grown accustomed to the tall long caped "cool" interpretation as well as the more short and stout "Classic" look.

What I'm curious about is whether or not they will give him a voice. Let's compare it to Pit in brawl. His only game before then was Kid Icarus for the NES and Pit obviously had no voice then, but they gave him one in brawl. I wonder if they'd give geno voice clips or if he'd be mute?

Bowser is trash dude. He's only good for physical and his spells are all trash cause of his shit magic stat. Geno's only downside is his frailty but that shit's solved with Geno boost and a healer

I was a Playstation kid growing up, and he was really only relevant for a few years. I don't consider him enough of an icon to really justify a place in Smash, seeing as how he's a third-party that has nothing to do with Nintendo. Banjo's time didn't last long either, but at least Banjo-Kazooie 1 and 2 were considered must-own games for the N64.

I just want a return of the location, characters and themes of SMRPG, such a memorable cast which makes it such a shame they can't exist even in cameo roles like Tennis or Party.

Incorrect. Mario was already going after Smithy's officers on his way to get to the princess. If they were causing problems to locals, he was ready to curbstomp them since he's Mario. He would have 100% gotten involved in tracking Smithy even after saving her. Literally all Geno does is "hey the shiny rocks you were getting are important, and im gonna let you collect them so i can take them at the very end of the game and pretend i did something big." Delete Geno from the game, and literally nothing changes from the plot or what would have happened through out it.
Fucking MALLOW had actual plot significance, since helping his royal parents actually helped Mario PROGRESS through an obstacle.

Geno is more about what he represents.
When comparing the RPG Mario legacy to Banjo, I think Mario RPG series is the more significant and worthy of representation, of which there is currently none.

And when deciding between what picks, there is basically only 3

And Geno is clearly the most popular, because he represents the first RPG entry. A mindblowing installment from the SNES days where exploring the mushroom kingdom in that manner didn't even cross your mind. Let alone having peach and bowser in your fucking party, doing japanese shenanigans with the group and just having a good time. That was all Squaresoft's charm, and Geno being their OC that essentially represents that collaboration is a good way to pay tribute to the game that started it all. Without SMRPG there is no Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi.

Mallow doesn't scream SQUARE, isn't as relevant to the plot, doesn't have as many cool moves, and isn't nearly as much of a fan favorite. It's always made sense to me. No one seemed to question it in the Brawl days either. It just seemed to make sense. If you're going to have the captain falcons and ness's and marths, there's no reason fans shouldn't ask for Geno

the team split in half, the half that was nintendo, made Mario RPG 2, which became renamed as Mario Story (Renamed Paper Mario in the US)
w/o Squares influence, the resulting product was drastically different.
Many ppl prefer The Paper Mario Series, but I tried to like them, but never could, they were just too boring.
Mario & Luigi RPG (Renamed as just Mario & Luigi in the US) was semi close, and used more of the original nintendo team that helpped work on mario RPG.
But still not the same w/o Square.
The biggest issues with both series are pretty much the same.
They take 10 times more text/dialogue to say something that can be said in a tenth of the amount.
They break the momentum to stop and say pointless things far too often, it feels like a modern pokemon game, in how it stops u to tell u about another tutorial on how to press A at NPCs. (but its at least better than pokemon, in that its not always a tutorial, but half the time it is, but semi disguised as a lame joke.)
the games are usually far too formulaic. (This is the same issue that plagues most RPGs, including modern Square-enix RPGs)
pretty much only FF6, FF7, Chrono Trigger, and Mario RPG are the only 4 RPGs that really break the feeling of being too formulaic.
(to some extent, FF8, and FF9 come close in some ways, more so 9 than 8.)

mario had no way of delivering the star pieces.
if mario found a way on his own, so too could he have done the same in place of mallow's help.
