Chocobo Tales. The mini games were alright, and the card game was actually pretty well thought out.

I've been playing the first Mana, Final Fantasy Adventure, for the past couple days. The Chocobo in that is amazing.
>goes super fast if you ride it and makes you invincible
>loyally follows you anywhere and gets fucked up by monsters to protect you after you fall unconscious in a dangerous area
>doctor gives it cyborg legs as a replacement and it can now paddle over the ocean

The Wii version was painfully slow especially the cutscenes really though, it was just the dialog that was slow. Everyone that spoke had like this long pause after every sentence. They fixed that with the switch port. That alone is an instant buy for me.

Chocobo Tales on Switch was a fucking mistake. The card battles gave a lot of personality to the game and they gave the laziest excuse to remove it.

If you never played the card battles you won't miss them and you'll have fun. If you played it you're fucked.

Also, multiplayer BREAKS the game.

It becomes a bit grindy at some point but if you use multiplayer to fully control an extra chocobo you can do insane strategies and beat bosses even if you're underleveled.

They removed it? Hell I barely even remember it was in the first game, I think I remember reading the tutorial then forgetting about it. Seriously, it was barely even noticeable in the Wii version. Like nothing else brought it up in game other than 1 moogle npc sitting in a corner.

It gave the game a lot of charm. There were even tournaments at my school.

Card games are always comfy.

I tried playing the Wii version once and never figured out how to get out of the fucking town.

Level it up to max in one of the roles and you get a costume for it, dragoon for DPS, white mage for healer and paladin for tank.

Particularly the Ivalice kind.

With how effin long they take to do ports, especially with Crystal Chronicles, I doubt they'd do any real spin-offs anytime soon while they're funneling all cash into FF7R development.

I find it a bit sad since I can tell somewhere that the cutscenes are changed because they rewrote the lines to more kid friendly but I played this game already as a kid.

Is it petty if I haven't played the Chocobo Mystery Dungeon games because I'd rather play as a human? I've never cared much for playing as an animal in video games even if it's an entirely aesthetic difference. If you can play as the human party members in Every Buddy I might consider picking it up.
