How were you supposed to know?

How were you supposed to know?

You weren't. Not the first time, anyways.

you weren't, it's trial and error

You can see them breathing.

It's in a rather unusual position for a chest

You see them breathing, and the chain is different.

messages and bloodstains on the ground

You had already seen a gif or post about it online, or peewdiepie's video of the game

Statues are all toppled over.
Blood stains everywhere.
Chest strangely located at an off angle in the centre of the room.
They breathe.
If I was registering the game I'd add a few corpses around it too. Maybe Siegmeyer tells you he saw a chest move or something. That would work.

Open it and get eaten, that's how you find out. That or be that one 10 Perception gamer who notices it breathing.

You're in a area that literally has 'traps' in the title, where every room up till that one has been filled with things meant to kill you and this is the only one that appears safe except for a chest placed right in the open at an awkward angle.

She tried to warn us.

Don't think you were supposed to. I spoiled myself on a lot of things on my first playthrough, so I was genuinely surprised and terrified to see this one trick. Ended up shooting every chest I encountered from then on.

Sen's Fortress has "traps" in the title?

Chinese cartoon posters are a special type of stupid, user.

I don't know how non-japanese gamers are apparently expected to know this, but the jap name for Sen's Fortress is Fortress of 1000 Traps.

Cool, learn something everyday.

I've been playing this shit since 2013 and had no idea they breathed. What the fuck?

The Japanese version is called Fortress of 1000 Traps or something like that and for some reason my brain stopped working for a minute and made me think that was the English name too. My bad there.
Though I will backtrack and say that Frampt tells you that it's full of traps when he says to go there.

See

That's because it's nearly impossible to see until you stop and stare at it closely for several seconds. If you do, you'll also notice its teeth.

The chain on mimics is pointing towards you while legit chests are curled back

Attached: 1583191598473.jpg (1323x732, 132.1K)

No worries. You're right, Frampt does mention traps, though most people probably figured it referred solely to the arrow contraptions/swinging axes.

This is only useful once you both know about mimics and are aware of which chain indicates what. This doesn't warn you about mimics at all if you're going in blind.

Yeah hats the obvious way to tell them apart but there is no way of knowing this before you get attacked the first time. Especially when you're playing on muddy PS3 graphics and can hardly even see the chain in the darkness anyways.

>being a consoletard

Stick your dick in the keyhole.

messages from other players

Yes I, like many others, played it for the first time on release on PS3. In case you didn't know, the PC release was over a year later.

Why do you point it's a mimic in your picture are you dumb real chest don't hacve teeth

>doing beta testing for others
You should run a charity

Bloodstains fucking everywhere. Messages. It's in the middle of nowhere whereas others are neatly tucked away to the sides of the room. It breathes.

who says you were?
>B-BUT THAT'S UNFAIR
who the fuck said games should be fair?

PTDE on PC is hardly any better without mods. In fact, vanilla PC PTDE is fucking garbage. And don't forget GFWL :)

he does. all his used up games get ported to your platform.
and you just eat it cuz its reminiscent of you eating someone else's cum from your partner's asshole.

see

>without mods
good thing PC has mods then lmao. also not him, don't sperg out at me

What if they had bonfire mimics and ladder mimics?

>You don't hit every chests of every games you play because of a mimic traumatism in your youth

Remember when PC fags petitioned to get Dark Souls ported to PC. Then remember all the PC fags getting filtered on Asylum Demon and crying on Yas Forums about it. Good times.

then the game would have gotten an even bigger fame for being LE EPIC HARD GAME and subsequent games would have suffered even harder for it.

you're always supposed to hit chests, have you never played a videogame before?
also this

Ive run it on a shitbook dell from 2011 with an integrated gpu on stable 25 fps. It looked fine compared to PS3. One of the main reasons for the remaster was again the shitty performance it had on PS3 (thanks beta testers)
besides dark souls whatever the fuck else would anyone want to be ported on pc ? Uncharted or The Order 1886 ? Console games are trash

The big yellow arrow is a giveaway

>Then remember all the PC fags getting filtered on Asylum Demon and crying on Yas Forums about it.
Lmao nigga for real? First time I tried PTDE was only in 2015, got him on my first try. Casuls stay casul, I guess...

whoa you're so hardcore bro!

Really? We're complaining about Mimics now? A creature that's been fucking up adventurers in rpgs both tabletop and vidya and predates Dark Souls by 30 fucking years?

Eat a fat fucking cock

Attached: dont talk shit.png (297x245, 131.83K)

5 years later and still begging for Bloodborne

that's red retard

You can see the teeth when it's closed, the chain is different, and the color is off. After the first one, you can parry smack to wake it up, if you don't notice the other stuff.

ok zoomer

first timers always get bitten, after that it's

>see chest
>give it love tap with weak weapon like sword hilt
or
>back away and pull out binocs and look at the lock, you'll see it breathing and teeth etc

also you can toss a lloyd's talisman to force the mimic to sleep so you can steal the treasure from it

you're not fooling anyone with your faux color blindness

>We're complaining about Mimics now
I don't think so, just talking about them really.
imagine being so on edge that you perceive everything as an attack.
chill the fuck out

Attached: 1443844166896.gif (294x222, 405.3K)

It's supposed to be a surprise. If it's easy to figure out it defeats the purpose of encountering a mimic chest for the first time.

no thanks if I wanted to dodge non stop and occasionally hit something while wearing no armor i'd play bayonetta which has better combat. For le ebin gore i could also play doom

>DaS1 gets you used to hitting a chest before opening in
>in DaS2 you can potentially break what's inside the chest if you hit it
FROM SOFTTTTTTTTTT

>In a house of traps to begin with
>You can see it breathing
>Messages from other players
>Weird angle different from all other chests
>Different chain
>Bloodstains

Very first mimic in the game means it's likely going to murder you the very first time, by design. However, it does look different. If you stop and look at it and notice the differences, you can then realize the breathing and the differences.

I'm 30. I made that comment because instead of just saying it was an homage to classic traps in older videogames, you made your statement sound like everyone MUST have experienced this already.
You made a cunty comment so I gave you a cunty response.

are you unironically autistic?

how is
>>You don't hit every chests of every games you play because of a mimic traumatism in your youth
cunty lmao? he's just relating it to personal experience. lot of angry people ITT wtf

Attached: 1437240470276.jpg (200x200, 15.5K)

>enemies can break chests with their attacks
>several chests are located next to enemies who attack with wide sweeps

Attached: 1575733182845.jpg (238x183, 7.14K)

You weren't. It's forced difficulty. Dark Souls is just a shitty game

There should be way more types of mimics.
>mimic doors
>mimic walls
>mimic floors
>mimic bonfires
>mimic item corpses

Mimic menu options
Mimic save files

What about when games have the feature where you can break the item in the chest if you attack the chest

>CHOSEN UNDEAD, YOU MUST BRAVE SEN'S FORTRESS, A DEADLY HOUSE OF TRAPS, TO REACH ANOR LONDO
Hmm I wonder

The Japanese name is センの古城, literally Sen's Old Castle. Sen is written in katakana, so it's a proper name and doesn't mean 'thousand' here.

I already explained why its cunty. I'm not angry though.

Why is it called Sen’s fortress
Who is Sen

>mimic games

Attached: 1556041511286.jpg (960x720, 71.48K)

I always hated that concept.
>Attack the lock on the chest
>this breaks the fantasy metal sword in the chest.
>?????

the item corpses getting up and attacking would be amusing

The Daughters of Ash mod played with this idea in the most dogshit way possible. In the Tomb of Giants, there were fake bonfires that exploded and spawned a baby skeleton upon lighting them. Maybe there was a way to tell them apart, but hitting them to check doesn't do anything.

Sen is Velka obviously

I agree, I have no problem with games taking the occasional cheap shot at the player. What I was saying is that the chain being different does nothing to warn new players about mimics.

By dying once and then checking every single time.

A games enjoyment isnt solely brought on by positive things.

I think that's only in DS3.

Also another point of trivia, you can use Undead Hunter's Charm on them to make them open their mouths and drop the loot without aggroing. Can be also used to farm Symbol of Avarice from a single mimic.

That's the point. Booga fucking booga. After that you become weary of chests. Later on after realizing their differences or reading up on them you know what to look out for. Eventually you just know exactly where they are and fuck them up.

Yes. But how were you supposed to know the first time?

They breathe slightly in DS1 as well unless they changed it in the remaster.

>Bonfire Mimics were almost a thing
That's a fan concept by vempirick.
