man this game has such a indistinct artstyle, its fucking bizarre
its like overwatch, but with magic, and with knockoff dues-ex guns, but the characters all dress like cyberpunk but also they're all normal humans
its a blend of everything at once and it still manages to come out bland, its like someone sanded all the edges off of shadowrun.
its kind of like how you mix a bunch of vibrant colors and end up with a stocky brown. i wish they stuck to one aesthetic and refined that instead of jumping around and trying to hit every bar at once, instead they just kind of lightly tapped them all

It's more like a consequence of digital art I suppose. I don't know if it has a particular name but it certainly appears like an overly graphical, less painterly approach. These are the types of lowbrow digital artists you see on Youtube with a few thousand followers giving tutorials on how to use the lasso tool to create plains and just go paint over them.

It still requires knowledge of anatomy/light/etc but I notice everybody who does this lack a certain sense of aesthetics and it makes all their pieces look very unappealing.

It's the quintessential esports try-hard artstyle. The "everything but the most barely functional of essentials must be ultra subdued to not distract from the 1337 noscoping". Basically the polar opposite of a JRPG or Battleborn. Notice how fps "pros" all play with graphics at ultra low all the time?

It's the closest they can get the graphics to that without actually requiring one to chose low settings.

Nah, that'd be Fortnite, a game literally soulless, stripped to the most clinical aspects of vidya possible while still maintaining functional gameplay.
There were a few years when LoL was actually good and had inspired designs.

The issue is it's a F2P game incredibly easy to run on any device which allows all manner of people to try it without any investment whatsoever, including actually ever getting good.
Even if Valorant follows suite 1 to 1, I can't see normies ever giving a shit about "flicking" and "tracking" to ever win a match.

I don't get why normies are getting hyped up for this. Riot had one game for a full decade on a spaghetti code client and when they finally decided to make new shit they released an Autochess clone and an average as fuck card game. Now they release gameplay for their FPS and it's literally CSGO with gimmicky abilities.
I'm sure it will o well in the beginning because of marketing and brand recognition but I'd be surprised if it wasn't dead two years after.
