>about to start playing this
>country gets shut down
>parents have existing illnesses
Should I start playing or am I only gonna scare myself?
Pathologic 2
Embrace the plague...don't fight it
Play it. Just remember you are #1.
It's literally the most perfect time to play it.
>I tried to warn you, but you didn't listen...
This.
Just died about 5 times in a row because I was starving + exhausted. Can't sleep because starvation, can't find food in time because exhaustion and no health. Fun!
You'll become a micromanagement god of the plague, do it. The time is nigh.
>IPL has been struggling financially because their game is more anti-normie than anticipated
>Release a man-made virus upon the world to boost sales and blames the Chinese
>Russia immediately shuts down border between Russia and China
Vladimir Putin bows to Nikolay Dybowski
Play it, it'll be good practice.
How do we stop this madman
First time I've played this series. I died in my sleep on day 1->2 cuz I'm being stingy on my money and not buying food. Are the death penalties worth restarting over?
No, you are expected to die. A lot. Also, you'll get a lot more out of the game if you don't abuse the save system.
>corona virus boosts sales of Pathologic
Did the Chinks and Russians do it on purpose?
absolutely not unless you've had it happen dozens of times, in which case what the fuck are you doing stop dying. roll with the punches, it's barely noticeable.
>being stingy on my money
how long does money usually stay useful in an apocalypse, user?
i like his look, hes got that 70s author look with the turtleneck and beard
>how long does money usually stay useful in an apocalypse, user?
Not him, but assuming you went in blind, you wouldn't know on day 1 it's going to turn into an apocalypse.
>stalk children
>horde bottled water and mixed nuts
>dig through every trashcan you come across
>break into your neighbors' houses every night and steal their food - they won't care
>if you see an infected person, just run away
>if you get infected, find a homeless serial killer to cure you
>don't trust anyone, especially not the government or even God
Yeah, I think I'm prepared.
Does anyone know where to find the "manifestos" that were posted on IPL's old website? I remember one being about how the original Pathologic was designed as a simulator meant to prepare people for real-world disasters, or something along those lines. Right now it seems appropriate.
gotchu covered actor
>old.ice-pick.com
it's a great read, really.
imagine if this minor shitstorm is what springs P2 into the big leagues of popular recognition.
I wish I could grow facial hair like he does
>tfw you'll never be a chad author
Good to know, thanks.
Thankfully only died once. I got my ass kicked and passed out midday due to hunger on Day 1, but neither counted as a death. I figured if I slept into day 2 while starving I'd get another pity pass but nope.
And like the other guy said I am going in 100% blind. I have no idea what the fuck is going to happen day 2 and beyond but I am enjoying the ride. Guess I'll blow my money on food + weapons.
to be fair there was a sale recently celebrating the ps4 port
protip:only spend money on food if you are forced to. It is much better to buy nuts from every single person that has them and then trading them with children for salted fish, eggs and a bunch of other valuable items
There's this, too
ice-pick.com
Trading and bartering is 100% the way you want to go, they try to get you used to it but it's important to realize just how essential it is before it gets to be too late. Learn who wants what and who's got what you need. Try and keep loads of doodads on hand so you have something to trade with everyone. Dumpster diving is your treasure chest looting.
>baka at fools who think a game centered around THEATRE has no gays.
honestly true
>tfw heard about how difficult it is, how challenging it is
>decide to abuse time warping/loading
>finish the game with a shit ton of food, never in danger of failing
I kinda wish I went in vanilla.
I made a mistake in following this link
coward
Thanks, but what I was thinking of ended up being the terribly-translated intro to the manual for the game's original release:
APPEAL
According to the world statistics quantity of population on the planet comes to 6 bln. It witnesses of an extreme density of population and as a result of natural resources shortage. At critical point there turn on natural mechanism of population limitation. Natural cataclysms and outrages of new, unknown before diseases prove the said above.
Judging from that we think it is necessary to higher up the level of people training in critical situations. Hereby we offer for your attention the simulator of a human being behaviour in the condition of pandemic.
“Pathologic” is the initial game prototype of the simulator. The environment assumes lack of scientific progress and public evolution of the most primitive level; the disease and methods of fight with it are extremely conditional. The simulator is oriented first of all at a mechanism of taking right decisions.
The simulator is presented in electronic format.
Description:
- two CDs for installation and support of the simulator;
- a package with manual.
Before installation and start-up the work with the simulator, please, look through the manual attentively. It will help master the given didactic materials and increase your chances to survive accordingly.
Good luck,
IPL Laboratory
Looking back on the original manual, some of the text is actually pretty funny and interesting despite the god-awful translation. Some of the instructions are written as "official directives" aimed at doctors/the player. The manual ends with a concluding letter from IPl telling people not to get too mad at the game.
>being stingy on money
Dont do this. buy as much food as early as you can before inflation starts. Barter for everything else
>buy the game on launch
>its an unplayable mess
>lags out of the ass
>random crashes
>cant play past the intro because of that
Did they fix it?
why don't you try it out? always worked on my machine
still haven't played the free marble nest thingy, is it good?
I own the HD version of the original game on Steam, but 2 is basically sort of like a remake or what?
Is the first game still worth playing?
they put out several performance patches, yeah. can't guarantee it'll run perfectly but it's probably a lot better.
I played through two of those patches - the earliest ones - barely any difference.
Bachelor route fucking when?
Likewise, didn't help me - but then I am on a toaster
2 is a major remake of 1 with a poorly thought out title. it's essentially the same events, same plot, roughly the same characters, some personalities reworked, mechanics drastically changed, quests and plotlines changed except for the bare skeleton of the main events, etc.
it's a remake from the ground up. the first game is worth playing since as of right now 2 only has a single character path of 3 finished, and the first game lets you play as the other two, who have very different and complementary stories. 1 is however really fucking jank and requires a pretty high forgiveness for such.
my personal recommendation is play 2 and see if you like it, and if you want more go back and play 1.
I miss her so fucking much
I cried when she died, this game is so cruel
>tfw didn't get to hug Lara
Welp time to restart without dying a single time
I should do this also, what with a plague simulator being increasingly relevant given the state of current events.
I made a deal with the guy in the theater, did I fuck up?
Yes
I don't get this game. So the town is basically a huge bull? it was all a dream or someshit?
Can you actually escape with her? She asked me to but I decided to stay for the kids. Gotta save them kids.
You can ride the train with her to escape the town. But an army checkpoint stops you out in the steppe. The soldiers shoot her no matter how hard you try to persuade them, you can do nothing but walk a really long distance back to the town after they kill her, while this plays youtube.com
I haven't played this game but it sounds like it might be a reference to the myth of the Minotaur.
P1 is unironically one of the ugliest games I have ever, ever witnessed. I tried to get into it but it's a massive fucking eyesore. The models, the textures, the camera angles, the extremely cheap flash game tier HUD/UI, the cheap DoF effect when you talk to someone, the photographs that don't match the models, it's such an ugly fucking game.
ludo
yes, no joke or meme, id restart if i were you
the simon and garfunkle cover is kind of corny
Why didn't you buy his game bros...
Birdies..Birdies... gather ye here.. round the marble nest.
What do the developers really mean with their anti-holistic philosophy in Patho 2? The only way the player becomes immortal in the game is because Artemy is played by an infinite chain of actors that come and go. Time that flows in the town comes from the Cathedral built by Kains. The time is knit through every single clock in the Town. Simon Kain's personality remains in the world, as shards that are embedded in the souls of every Kain alive, hence why you can speak to him as Bachelor. The main antagonist is the plague which wants to reduce the individuality of the town to an "all dead" status. The Bachelor in marble nest gets to win the fight with death in a bittersweet way: he can only relive the same fateful day over and over ad infinitum.
Beautiful concepts, beautiful game. Does someone know a rebbutal to this philosophy? Or maybe where did the developers gained inspiration from?
The 2nd penalty is the worst. Fucking Mark.
way off base, not even in the same ballpark
potentially not even playing the same sport
user pls
what did you not get?
nice joke actor.
Simon and Garfunkle is just the kinda sense of humour that everyone east of Berlin has
I personally found it beautiful in this way. It's supposed to make you feel bad. The environments are drab and repetitive. The people are ugly and unhuman. You're supposed to feel like a stranger, in a drab, suffocating world without rules. This is the path you have to endure for absolution, as a player.
>inhuman
>no rules
this is intrinsically against the philosophy that the game espouses. rules are to be questioned and then broken, the human is not more valuable than the thing and the thing is in some ways more human than the human.
way to fail.
WHERE'S MY BACHELOR AND USELESS CUNT CAMPAIGNS YOU DAMN GOPNIKS
So this game flopped? is Bachelor not happening?
