Nioh 2 launch thread

Nioh 2 is almost out. In some parts of the world, it's already out.

Will you play a male or female character? What weapons will you use for your first playthrough?

Is the middle-stance katana's first attack still a horizontal swing from the left? That always bothered me in the first game.

Yes. And what do you think is wrong about that?

>that final boss and ending
Topped the first one in every way possible

I'm waiting for the PC release, but
>Will you play a male or female character?
Gonna make a strong oni amazon waifu.
>What weapons will you use for your first playthrough?
Full on onmyo build with the switchglaive and 2kat/2axe secondary.

post cute female outfits/transformations

Whenever I see a katana swung in any form of media (or real life), they almost always swing either dowards, or diagonally downards. A horizontal swing just looks weird.

I am so hyped Yas Forumsros. Nioh 2 sounds like a top tier PS4 exclusive

I don't know why people say that magic is bad in Nioh. The magic spells themselves are super cool in their animations, and the spells are among some of the most powerful tools you can possibly have in the game.

The Weaken Talisman and Carnage Talismans alone are enough to basically triple your damage output.

>The Last Guardian
>top tier

Yikes. That game is trash. Put Wipeout Omega Collection in the top tier and we're good to go.

So close yet so far. Planning on a male character and using 1kat and Switchglaive to start with. For anyone that got an early copy and played the LCT, was your created character saved or did you have to use a code?

It's bad, because it's all just some boring passive buffs or differently colored elemental projectiles. It's not that it's weak, but it's not a very fun implementation of a magic system. But I'm okay with that, because it's a samurai game in the first place, so you can't really be a full blown mage. "Elemental melee" as a magic build isn't too horrible, and you also get to enjoy the benefits of all the other magic scrolls.

It's absolutely amazing. Hundred Eyes wasn't exactly a bad boss, but it definitely was not something that should be final boss material. Nioh 2's final boss on the other hand? Amazing. I can't wait to get a good rip of the soundtrack, because the music was just beautiful.

>Transforming scythe/glaive/pole-arm
was there even an option

Oh, look what we have here.

I'll play as neither; knowing that they kept the Diablo loot shit killed any interest I could have on this game.
I'll rather wait a few months for Ghost of Tsushima.

It's literally only because they want it to be something it's not. They expect huge damage nukes from the spells themselves and when that's not how it works, regardless of how powerful it is otherwise.
But that's wrong, there are several very unique different projectile spells and buff attacks. There's geysers, thunderbolts, floating fireballs, some you can surround yourself with and shoot out with your attacks, blade beams and magic arrows. Probably more too.

Holy shit the first boss was fun as fuck. Way better than onryoki

ABUNAAAI

Those are still functionally the same.
There's no summoning magic, or levitation, or shapeshifitng, etc. It's just damage. And if you want to nitpick, sure there are some utility spells, like less stamina drain in yokai realm etc, but those effects are usually negligible and never see any use.

Literally the only reason why Onryoki was hard was because of how the ball throws in the second phase one-shotted most players and can't be blocked. Also, his boss stage is way too small for a boss like him.
Once you re-fight him in the final mission in that boss rush section before Nobunaga, he becomes WAY easier because your environment is much bigger.

What's wrong with Diablo loot?

Don't respond to bait. He's been posting this same """"criticism"""" for who knows how long in Nioh 2 threads.

That's not "him". A lot of people seem to have problem with the loot system, but I cant figure why. "Nioh bad, because loot". But why is the loot bad in the first place? Nobody has given a clear answer yet.

Meant to quote

Finally got my copy, now i'm counting minute till i'm free from waging

Guardian Spirit talismans exist, and ironically the other two things you stated are a thing in Ninjutsu but more importantly as Yokai Skills, including more summoning. They're also not functionally the same or "just damage" either, thanks to Ki damage, different AoEs and ranges and the very different elemental statuses, along with other bonus effects of the spells like Blessed Bolt being capable of headshotting.
>Barrier/Kekkai talismans
>negligible
That shit is borderline broken. A lot of the utility buffs can be. Also Divination is the best QoL effect you can get.

Diablo loot makes exploration unnecessary and unrewarding due to the non-existence of unique gear.
Diablo loot makes skill and knowledge of the game unnecessary. You don't need to learn your toolset or the enemies' attack patterns; as long as you get the right drop you can just spam the basic attack and OHK everything.
Diablo loot makes the game unbalanced by inflating the enemies' stats because you're supposed to hunt gear.
Diablo loot makes grinding necessary.

Diablo loot is an inherently flawed concept that shouldn't exist.

>What weapons will you use for your first playthrough?
All of them

It doesn't do any of those things based on implementation, and Nioh's implementation in particular is specifically designed to avoid all of those. You're blatantly showing that you haven't played the game or paid so little attention to how it worked that you didn't gain any understanding of it whatsoever, most likely due to your boogeyman of a mechanic scaring you so much. Go to a different thread and stop trying to start shitposting wars because you can't handle something different, or actually learn how the game works so that perhaps the conversation can actually discuss legitimate flaws in the game's design and mechanics instead of incessant whining over opinions.

>Diablo loot makes exploration unnecessary and unrewarding due to the non-existence of unique gear.
But different enemies have different loot tables. And you're exploring not just for the weapons and armor, but for treasure, kodamas, you hunt yokai for their unique drops too, which you can't get by repeatedly slaying the bandit closest to the bonfire etc.
>Diablo loot makes skill and knowledge of the game unnecessary. You don't need to learn your toolset or the enemies' attack patterns; as long as you get the right drop you can just spam the basic attack and OHK everything.
The enemies scale as you progress into the game too, so that point is moot. You need the gear to keep up with the tougher enemies.
>Diablo loot makes the game unbalanced by inflating the enemies' stats because you're supposed to hunt gear.
That's just because the game isn't a pure action, and it has RPG elements and stats. You may not like it and prefer pure action to action RPGs, but it's not objectively bad by any means.
>Diablo loot makes grinding necessary.
Eh, kinda.
But only in the late game and only if you're going for a "perfectly" optimized builds, and need specific crafting recipes etc. You can still make do with a bunch of random armor pieces and weapons with high enough base stats, because the game at its core is still action, even if RPG, so you can avoid getting hit and hit the enemy till they die all the same. But it'll take more time.

To summarize: you personally don't enjoy the RPG aspect of the game, but it doesn't mean it's bad.

Someone could replace the spear icon with that bait hook and the helmet with that fish. Just saying.

Yep. The world record holder for speedrunning the game just relies on Kekkai and Weaken talismans, as well as the Kusari attack buff skill for damage output. He plays through all the main missions naked and was able to beat Nine Tails at like LV110 in 50 seconds with piss poor gear.

Share character creator codes.

Just fight him, you pussy!

i dont know if 2 needing point in magic to keep the buff/debuff running for a decent time is a good or bad thing

Attached: Nioh 2_20200312125354.jpg (1920x1080, 387.61K)

It's absolutely a good thing, at least for most buffs and debuffs. Catwalking and Divination should always last really long. Anyway the real question is whether it will be enough or not. But it most likely won't because of how terribly low enemy health and numbers still are, on top of how strong the permanent max Ki damage is. Really that should recover back to at the very lowest 75%, but 50% is just stupid especially with how powerful our general Ki damage options are now.

Losing 2 points is nothing, compared to gaining access to onmyo buffs/debuffs.

Attached: unknown.png (780x882, 1.03M)

Can you answer this? Just want to make sure it actually transfers over.

I'd say it's still more fun than other Souls games because at least 95% of spells are functional and have a purpose.

if it's only a bunch of magic point it's fine but what if you have to put more point the higher the ennemy level is ?

middle stance quick attacks are sweeps/wide reaching attacks on all weapons, that's one of middle stances 'things'

Did you guys get your preorder bonuses? I didn't get them for some reason

Based Wirriam

Sorry man i didn't check it when starting the game. I'll check after this mission

I just finished Nioh 1's final dlc boss
>every boss in the game has pretty mediocre music and ranges from poor to good presentation
>tfw nine-tails boss arena and effects
>tfw the main theme plays as the boss music

>want to get into nioh 2
>but that spider bat lady bitch with paralysis from 1 is an insurmountable barrier to me
i tried the paralysis pills, i tried 1 hit and immediately backing put, but I always die in a combo or two to her, so i somehow have to do a perfect run.

This makes me very happy.

if she takes damage from anything while she's midair it chunks about 20-25% max stamina off her instantly.

Just bring some shuriken and learn to block mid combo since you can cancel hitstun with block but you can't dodge out of hitstun.

Is that implying the kid is william and okatsu's hafu spawn

If you're having a hard time remember to use the ying yang debuff by applying 2 elemental debuffs

it asks when you start if you want to use your saved data from the trial
your character should be there

The quality of the OST is fucking majestic so far and almost all bosses seem to have unique theme aside from a handful of themes returned from the first game.

Learn to block and dash as well as dodge her attacks, if you get hit you can block before dodging to escape combos. Make better use of stances to both change your dodge and land many more hits before, after and in between her attacks. You have ranged weapons on your back for when you can't reach her.
