Is there any game that executes city building as well as Banished?
Is there any game that executes city building as well as Banished?
banished is only good for a narrow portion of its lifecycle. it inevitably gets boring and annoying towards the end of the middle phase
It's funny because I knew it was going to be like this the first second I saw a screenshot of the game, way before its release.
vanilla banished is pretty meh, colonial charter turns it into a pretty good builder though
Anno series does quite a decent job. Kino music as well. Combat is a letdown however.
Banished is unfinished garbo and its retarded fans can't convince me otherwise. Once you figure out the rhythm, the game is 100% solved
Play Tropico 4, possibly the last good city builder
6 is pretty good.
shame the game turns into a powerpoint presentation once you reach 200 citizens
Tropico 5 was dog shit (for a different reason Banished is dog shit) so I don't believe you for a second.
okay then.
hinterland chads
Dawn of Man any good? Price a bit steep.
>Has combat
Already better than Banished
Zeus Master of Olympus
>tfw I can't articulate my dream city builder game.
Please some developer read my mind and make it. I don't know what I truly want, but I can feel it in my heart
Free Cities but with my strategy and combat gamplay and less focus on all the fetish shit.
Every single other city building game.
Even Age of Empires
>muttland simulator
I want a future city builder that actually has futuristic mechanics, like having cities that can have 2/3 layers. Roads that build up/down into those layers. Buildings that rise and fall from those layers (Like Tokyo 3 in Evangelion) to avoid damage during a disaster/conflict.
Even in games this is a depressing sight.
Someone actually lives like that.
I'm not merican but cul-de-sacs seem comfy, what's wrong with them?
Loved those games. I got the four pack with Pharaoh, Zeus, and another two. Pharaoh was always my favourite but the greek ones weren't bad.
prolly talking about how the houses look the same.
looks cool.
How's Rimworld?
not very pretty.
Black & White 2 had good city building
Never stopped me from enjoying Dwarf Fortress
I only played Tropico 4
Why was 5 shit?
Why is 6 good?
I actually like modded banished
If you got bored of DF you've got no reason to play rimworld
I pirated some older version, I wouldn't pay money for it. It's Banished with less houses and more spears, endgame pretty much starts throwing armies of spear throwing clones at you and it becomes more tedious than fun.
Also
>build guard towers
>fag shows up
>throws wooden spear at guard tower
>guard tower catches fire
>collapses
>every raid targets your towers
bull fucking shit.
Banished is fucking garbage, there's nothing to it.
There are no meaningful differences between 4, 5 and 6.
Tropico 4 is great but once you have a big city with lots of traffic the AI shits itself and there's no way to properly manage it, for example the people who live at one edge of the island will start working in a building that's on the opposite side of the island for no reason, taking the job from those who live right next to it, and driving all the way across the island creating more traffic and probably already being too hungry and tired to work before they even get there.
If it was further along, I'd get it. Most of the city builders I'm interested in are early access. Sucks having to wait for a game that might not get finished.
I don't even know where they could go from here to save this one. It's a nice concept absolutely atrociously delivered. Game collapses on you anyways, you can roleplay the bronze age collapse.
>grow to house a couple hundred people
>stable food, stable defences
>don't realize all my villagers have big beards in their portraits
>old people I started the game with start dying
>your population boost comes from immigrants, not children
>immigrants grow old too, so they die in waves
>jews haven't invented birth rates yet
>all the boomers die
>lots of empty tents and huts
>instead of moving in with roommates to fuck, people can inhabit individual tents
>nobody makes children, everybody just NEETs it up in their fancy separate tents
>start ordering them to deconstruct houses
>nobody hunts or tills the fields with all the deconstruction going on
>housing crisis finally fixed
>raid arrives
>not enough people to defend village
>game over
>happens every game
There's a few clones out there but not as polished. Forest Village is quite literally a banished clone but with more building options.
sounds pretty fucked
Is Foundation good? I haven't tried it yet but I like the idea of organic city growth
>Is Foundation good?
It's fun, kinda milquetoast. You can do what you want pretty much without any sort of challenge, so more of a sandbox feel
The genre itself is quite limited unless you want to get into some spore level of shit
Pirate it, it's hilarious. Animals are retarded and if they touch water they are forced to swim in one direction until they reach the shore across. You can chase entire herds or bait packs of wolves into the river and fuck them with spears. Once their health drops to zero they just keep on swimming and taking spears into their back and they only collapse when they reach the shore kek. How much are they asking for it on Steam? I can't bear to check.
Those houses are not big user. Also they got like no land at all.
And these shitty sheeple suburbs are the prime nigger areas.
What I really don't like about these kind of pictures is the lack of trees.
But I guess it's because I'm used to the countryside.
Is Frostpunk worth it?
its alright
$24.99 lmao
remember black and white
Unless they ironed out all the pathfinding and traffic issues, I wouldn't recommend it. Pretty good, but it provides more annoyance than fun on the long run.
5's biggest and most controversial feature was the Eras. I guess user didn't like it either. I saw it as a necessary but failed attempt to revive the game's basic formula.
It was good even at release, even if obviously stripped of content. However, the constant updates made me realise it has a very long way to go. I'll only return for the complete (GOTY) edition.
Nah
comfy
I can't get into these games solely because of how the AI works with roads.
I love roads in city builders but you gotta be reallly conservative with them otherwise the AI won't get anything done because of intersections
The best modern city builder on the market is Anno 1800
>Extensive building options
>Comfy music
>Looks good
>Game actually allows you to walk through your city in first person
Anno 1800 is also the worst Anno
I couldn't stand living in a place like this. You'd have to hop in your car to do anything. Not a shop in sight.
fucking coonsoomer
I'd say it's better than 1404 and 2070
>multiple layers
>geofront design for safety
I'm loving this idea.
Would be pretty hard to get it to work with a reasonable UI though.
Kingdoms and Castles?
I like the artstyle, but heard it's pretty simplistic.
Why?
