I'd ask them why did they turn baldur's gate into divinity original sin 3
Were I to use reddit I'd be a little subtle with the question to try and avoid it being shut down by rabid Larian fans. Something along the lines of "do you think Baldurs Gate 3 is true to the vision of the originals?"
they will do AMA on r/baldursgate.
expect to be downvoted into oblivion by larianiggers from r/divinityoriginalsin
>what would you like to ask them?
When are you going to repent for your sins and make Dragon Commander 2.
For those who don't know, Dragon Commander was murdered and pushed out the door early to raise funds for Original Sin. They knew it was incomplete when they released it.
Ask them if you can port your character from the previous game.
haha thats a good one
So ... I'm trying to get the Lord of Murder trophy for BG in PS4 after having finally beaten the game for the first time - I know, I know -.
Since I just want to get the trophy and move on to BG2, I tried to cheese it. I imported my lv.8 (max exp) cleric, and through stat books duplication I gave him 25 in all stats.
So I have this absolute killing machine with max states, best equipment, potions, buffed, cloned 6 times for a full party and.... I literally cannot kill Davaeorn. I even had difficulties with the bandit camp.
I think with my current setup it is impossible to do it but since I'm overpowered to the point of breaking the game, I don't know what to do.
If my only option is to level up a full custom balanced party from the ground up again I will just abandon the game, and I rather not.
Any tips / tricks that might help me?
Can i import my BG2 save?
yes. lure him into top left room with the fountain, move to the bottom left room where his apprentice is and blast him with necklace of explosions from afar.
reminder that even bg1 to bg2 save import only really imported your stats and some items
you still had one canon, where the main character traveled with Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc and Dynaheir
the previous games did not happen, which is a great way to endear the people who liked them.
>even bg1 to bg2 save import only really imported your stats and some items
which was still a huge feature at the time, also a redminder.
Clerics aren't that great in 2E. They're mediocre fighters and their spellbook has some okay stuff but nothing mindblowing.
Have you tried throwing waves of summons at him? Between the full party of clerics you should be able to summon enough to exhaust his entire spellbook and have a few left over to help you beat him to death. Use a cleric protected by sanctuary to give sight for your forces.
...What!?
A priest of lathander can be nearly as good as a fighter, or maybe even better at late levels actually
I don't remember the cleric leveling progress but if you have dispel magic try using that to get rid of his magical defenses. Summon skeletons and send them to make him waste his spells before going yourself, buff them with bless first though
>only really imported your stats and some items
and drizzt encounter
To be fair, tips in BG2 promised that you'll be able to port your character in nwn1, and Bioware didn't deliver.
"Why do you hate Baldur's Gate?"
Why don't you just use magic pockets to transfer them to your other party member that's sitting in town in front of the vendor?
Thanks for the ideas guys. I will try those as soon as I get home.
On a related note, I tried summoning, but the creatures helped little. Although I only have access to the spell Summon Animals I. I've seen there is a lv.3 spell that I should have to raise the dead, but I don't have it.
I'm a priest of Helm, could that be the problem?
That's a stupid question and you should feel stupid for asking.
are you unable to work out why they are doing that?
the answer is self-evident. use your goddamn brain
t. larian devs
How are you planning to port 2E 7th level character into 3E 1st character?
You should still have access to animate dead. I'm not aware of any class kit or alignment restrictions on it. If you don't have it, that's a shame too because they're pretty nice summons to have.
I'm playing bg1 SCS on hardcore as a sorcerer, just beat the nashkel mines.
Kind of wish I had chosen something a little tankier but it's too late to quit now.
answer the question fucktard
By you don't have it do you mean you don't have it memorized currently or it is not in your spell book? Yeah raise dead spell is the one that summons skeletons, it doesn't actually require a dead body or anything like that. And the real raise dead companions spell is a fifth level one as far as I remember
Priest of Helm in general is inferior to Lathander IIRC but it should help here. True Sight should dispel his mirror image and that sword skill might be useful if it's better than whatever you have
I think Yas Forums generally chose a right side of history by hating on BG3. Larian is bunch of clowns.
>downvoted into oblivion by larianiggers
Why would they? They're the most excited for the game.
no idea what he's talking about. baldurs gate 1 and 2 are canon (at least their novelizations are).
What question, why are they doing that?
I dunno, because they lack the talent to make a different game, one that modernizes the Baldur's Gate games but still maintains the charm that made them so good?
I mean, one quick google search is all it takes to notice that they're unable to break their own mold.
That's exactly why they'd attack anything that sounds critical of BG3 or implies that the BG1 and 2 might be better
>Divine Divinity
oh my fucking god
They've already answered that question in a handful of interviews with a "yes".
It is not on the spellbook. I checked several times.
I will try to duplicate the summon wand and use it, although I've read that it only lasts a couple of turns, and I'm afraid that even if they can tank, they can't deal damage. My cleric is an absolute tank, but it has serious difficulty to land a blow.
You probably land the blows but they don't go through his stoneskins. Turn on the option to see your rolls in the log if you haven't and check that. Also remember dispel magic too
And if you don't have animate dead you must be using a mod, otherwise every priest gets that. It's also one of cleric's best spell you need that
post statscreen
theres actually a story about the Publisher forcing them to use that name
>diablo like action RPG
>rtwp rpg
>oblivion like ARPG
>RTS dating sim
>Turn based RPG
>Turn based RPG
THEY CAN ONLY MAKE ONE KIND OF GAME
How so? It's forgotten realms based. It's turn based which is true to pnp dnd not RTwP.
As far as Larian is concerned, to be true to D&D's pen and paper rules is to be true to the Baldur's Gate vision. Nothing else is even half as important.
How does Turn undead work by the way? What is the priest actually doing?
I am playing on PS4, so no mods. Also I have the log enabled and most of the time, even rolling 18 and 19 I'm not hitting. My THACO must be shit - I can't remember now from memory -.
I'll post the char once I get home if the thread is still around.
chanting and shit probably.
this shit really shines in the second game and only with good clerics sadly...my anomen just walks around exploding skeleton warriors, mummies, ghasts, ghouls in big groups and its so satisfying. at lvl 18 you can explode unnamed liches and at 25 demiliches as well how cool is that
They've probably fixed it in some update/patch, but the classic cheese in bg1 was several wands of summon monster and just non-stop spamming swarms of hob-goblin archers who shoot and non-hob-goblin archers who flesh wall the hob-goblin archers.
I never even learned to really kill sarevok because the kid me thought cheesing with hob-goblins was comedy kino and peak gaming experience.
>How so?
It's not a carbon copy of a 20 year old game, even though recent attempts at imitating these games have failed terribly.
>THEY CAN ONLY MAKE ONE KIND OF GAME
yes indeed, Larian games are all low effort, art-less trash like by people no older than 15 years old.
Even if BG3 had active pause, i would still call the game total, absolute dogshit - because it is pure dogshit - Larian cant write a good sentence of dialogue if you put a gun to their heads.
And dont even get me started on the "art" of their games ---- because there is none.
Pic related, just look at this fucking soulless shit.
What the fuck is this trash.
>Larian is doing AMA on r*ddit tomorrow, what would you like to ask them?
Not tomorrow but today in 5h.
You seem to have missed the part where BG 1+2 was successfull precisely because it wasnt fucking boring turn-based low IQ trash.
Watching the live reveal stream was hysterical, most people fell asleep from pure boredom watching the dev "fight".
>Kiddinity-kun has entered the thread
>precisely because
*in spite of
You should be able to explode demiliches but both demiliches in the game are immune to turn undead as far as I remember. But yeah otherwise casting invisibility on Anomen and having him walk in on vampires to turn undead feels pretty good
Turn based tactical combat low iq trash but real time zero thought just point dudes at the enemy and watch is high iq. Riiight. You're making a piss poor argument buddy. 1&2 were easy as fuck and took little thought for the vast majority of encounters.
Let me guess, your entire party got wiped in Irenucus' dungeon by 4 goblins at the start of the game on easy difficulty?
More than 1 thing happening on the screen at the same time is too much for your low IQ, right?
What a bunch of noobs.
>PLEASE THIS IS TOO MUCH I CANT DEAL WITH MORE THAN 1 ACTION AT A TIME
modern gamers are cancer.
Are... are you implying that Larian games werent easy as fuck and took little thought to complete their entire games?
No other game mode requires less IQ than turn based RPG's, especially Larian horseshit noob games.
You're pretty dumb kid, you should stop while you're behind.
A properly crafted TBT game takes more thought and planning than an RTS game. The original BG were trying to cash in on the RTS craze back then because kiddies with the attention span of a goldfish couldn't deal with turn based games.
>every thread has to be like this now because user can't live down deadfire
>...yyyy..you dumb!!
hahahaha keep coping.
>kiddies with the attention span of a goldfish cant deal with active pause, more than 1 thing moving at a time is exploding their brains
fixed that for ya, low IQ noobs.
Take your adderall little guy.
