Unless I'm forgetting something the tutorial for Vengeful Spirit requires you to use a Down Slash to break some wooden boards. Vengeful Spirit is obtained before you can access Fungal Wastes so, I dunno how you wouldn't know about Down Slash by that point.

Sort of like in The Talos Principe where your character's ability to jump is tied to specific points on the map, so depending on where you're standing you can cross entire chasms with one jump or struggle to go over a rock smaller than the boxes you use in the puzzles. My only real complaint is the lack of direction the game just feels like I'm walking through an empty hallway the entire time. Where am I going? Why do I care? Once I beat a boss, I spend the next 30 minutes just trying to figure out which random pathway to go next.
