It's actually closer to 800 in today's money

Xbros are gonna be seething when another Cuckbox is $100 more expensive again

>Sony casually, openly admitting that they are just waiting for the price of the new Xbox to be announced so they can undercut them
It honestly feels like a comedy skit but no, it's real life.

I bought it and it was cool. The the fucker YLOD on me. Have not gotten around to fix it.

PS599USDOLLARS

Xbox should just hold out lol OR set the price really high then when Sony sets their price then Xbox cut their price again

>when Sony sets their price then Xbox cut their price again
That's what I would do if I were Microsoft.

I remember buying it and thinking how it was kinda stupid to spend all that money but eh

Worst console of that gen. Yellow light of death and no games for 5 years, what were they thinking?

Someone post the picture with the guy saying "I'm rich enough to buy 1 PS3 with 1 game, are you?"

I hated how sluggish 7gen consoles felt with extreme loading times and stuttering, slow, annoying OS user interfaces. That's the main thing that comes into my mind when I think about the PS3.

It's amazing how badly the games at the beginning of the 7th generation aged, it has to be the worst out of any generation ever. Transitioning from ps2 graphics to 'HD' graphics was fucking rough. Example:
>turn on some shitty game called Bodycount couple months ago
>literally aliasing everywhere
>hurt to look at
>after a few minutes my eyes began to bleed
>turn off the game

They wherent but the ps4 was even worse lost all of its exclusives and had horrible design and hardware even worse controllers somehow.
Some have fucking lost it.
Remember when they tried to meme 3dtvs and sixaxis? What the fuck

Yeah it was so bad I went out and got a gaming pc around 2008 upgraded it until 2013
720p 30fps was aids I'd rather they'd have stuck to 480p 60fps but nope and the handful of 1080p games looked OK but still no aa and using hardware from 2005 well into 2013 was fucking stupid

All I knew around that time as a kid that the games felt "weird" compared to my ps2 games, couldn't put my finger on why. Now I know it's because of the sub 30 fps. Thank god I discovered PC gaming and also that there are plenty of games on PS4 that target 60 nowadays.

Both would win if they could both use it for good PR; giving customers the lowest price possible. Obviously they could discuss it behind the scenes to settle on a price range that isn't making an excessive loss for either.

>Obviously they could discuss it behind the scenes to settle on a price range that isn't making an excessive loss for either.
Isn't that against the law though?

Pretty sure it would qualify as price fixing.

Yeah they could very well agree in the opposite instead. Let's both sell these for $2000 lmao, these stupid gamers will still buy it, not like they have any other choice.

this meme is less funny when you remember you could just buy the 499 one because fuck $100 for 40 gb.

They absolutely would, but in a way that wouldn't be so easy to catch. More like 700. High enough to raise eyebrows, but not so high as to be unbelievable.

As an aside, despite playing on consoles pretty much my whole life, I've been pretty disappointed with the PS4 this gen (I've played more indies than anything else), and I've not seen any reason to get excited about the next gen.

Is irrelevant because people real wages didn't go up with inflation. So it still feels the same or worse if you're one of the ones whose real wages decreased over time.

That was still expensive as fuck.

The Xbox 360 was $400 base price and had more frames out of the box.

The 360 was missing even more features. Fuck even the $500 360 didn't have HDMI.

IT'S RIDGE RACER

It was 20GB. It also didn't have WiFi, card readers or silver trim.

You wound up paying more, even if you got the basic bitch 360. Xbox Gold was 50/year. 50*8=400. Add that $400 to the original price of the "Core" system (299), and you're up to $699. And people might forget, but video game consoles were pretty much everyone's Netflix machine, and MS required Xbox Gold to use Netflix.

Ok retard

Netflix wasn't even streaming back when the xbox 360 and ps3 first came out. It was still a subscription dvd rental service.

It was by like 2008-2009.

When it came out, yes. That changed by 2008.

It was 20 fucking gb. There are literally PS3 games that cannot be played on that model because of insufficient space.

Netflix would not have been a consideration when the xbox 360 and ps3 came out in 2005/2006

The premium 360 also only had 20GB.

Maybe not for customers, but Microsoft could see the way the wind was blowing.

Not to mention, it came just as Microsoft decided to stop trying and rest on a lower price and CoD.

Yes but you don't need to install games to the hard drive on 360.

It depends on the game. Lots of games that came on multiple discs (which was common because a single disc had a 6.8GB limit) required installs.

>europoors cant afford this

REAL TIME.. WEAPON CHANGE??

While it would be funny, I'm pretty sure that would just be another fuck this shit moment shooting themselves in the foot.

Remember, most people are too retarded to follow up so the first headlines about it would be the only thing most hear.

Same, that's when I abandoned consoles and built a gaming PC at age 13, lmao. I remember PC had like compete rebound and resurgence during that era because it almost fucking died, almost every publisher didn't want to publish on it because of piracy or whatever. Thank god for steam/valve because they alone instilled confidence in the platform again.

I don't think it's as bad as the transition from 2D to 3D graphics. Go back and look at any PS1/N64/Dreamcast game.
The ones you remember from your childhood play fine because you remember them, but play anything new and it's basically the worst gaming experience you can have right now.

GIANT ENEMY CRAB

>just don't meet with other company reps in person and discuss stuff lmao
Utterly unenforceable unless the companies in question are too retarded to even try to cover their tracks.

People's real wages didnt go up, but the price of goods did. The PS3 was worth roughly 400 cans of campbells soup, which is a modern value of roughly 1000$.

I boycotted this at launch because of it's ridiculous regional pricing and still never bought one.

It was $1250 dollarydoos when it launched in kangarooland and they removed the backwards compatibility from it as well.

>People's real wages didnt go up
They did. The exception is people stuck on minimum wage. Finish that degree and get a better job Brandyn.

I feel the same. Bloodborne and Tekken 7 are the only games I still play, the latter because I refuse to buy the same game again even if it's vastly superior on the PC.

I was moderately excited for TLoU2 but the lack of multiplayer dashed my hopes for the game, it was easily my favourite part of the first one until they fucked everything up with DLC.

I even bought 3 months of PS+ in advance to play online, which I haven't activated yet. I should check if there's an expiration date on the code.

I've never paid for online. I got tempted with Bloodborne, to check out some of the optional dungeons, but I just won't do it. I had free online on the PS3 since I got it in December of 2006. I only played Warhawk and FEAR on it, mostly out of boredom of the initial drought. Oh, I guess I played Journey on it, too.

If Bloodborne 2 is a launch title, I'll want the game at launch. Ditto if there's another NieR game (or a Platinum remake of the original). Otherwise, I'm content to just keep on waiting, potentially forever.

just abuse free trials lmao

Nah. Not worth the hassle.

Indeed.
I thought fuck it gen 7/8 was garbage (had a 360 too) so built a 2080ti and 2700x system last year it's gonna last a long time

So is it true that they're copying the smartphone market and launching with a budget PS5 and a beefier PS5 Pro?

I might go with the more expensive model off the bat if so, because the stock PS4's lack of an optical output turned out to be a huge pain in the ass for my setup.

six hundreds dollars aint shit for chad warden

youtube.com/watch?v=8sjhjFOw4Ok

They were high off the success of the PS2 and believed people would keep on buying their shit. Sony is an arrogant company.
