What am I in for?
What am I in for?
giant bug bitch
>"god I wish I was playing 3U or 4U instead"
>"thank god I'm not playing world"
A lot of content
What's better, this or World?
only reply if you've played both.
developing stage 3 eye cancer when you're fighting Najarala at 20 fps in a (literal) upscaled PS1 map.
The switch version never drops frames tho
A very fun game buried underneath a not-so-fun game
3U
GU just because of difficulty/monster selection, and I really hate how open World's maps are, and how they fucked up the multiplayer system
ITT:
>I hate the biggest monster catalogue in the history of the series because the game has optional moves that I can chose to forego
bing
This for the fight variety, armor and weapon variety and generally more engaging combat music.
World if you want more QoL changes and to try some changes to some of the weapons' playstyles.
is this nostalgia or do you mean it. if so, why?
For little bit of wahoos with a bing sprinkled on top
I've only played base World recently and have just barely started Iceborne, have around 400 hours in GU counting the time I spent on the Japanese 3DS version. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want actual cooperative play with the potential to make some friends then GU wins by a landslide, World's SOS system feels extremely impersonal compared to the gathering hub of old games, basically like you're playing with random NPCs. Core gameplay is the same either way, one's just going to feel "clunkier" but you get used to it.
>World's SOS system feels extremely impersonal
maybe because game is built around solo play, you don't have to play MP at all.
Out of all only arena and collab quests don't scale down from, which in my opinion is really fucking stupid.
Loads of 2-player rooms and long wait times
at least that's what I've heard from others online who have the game
Water fights are unique, last game before the mounting system was introduced, also the last console MonHun considering GU is technically a handheld game. Also a bit of nostalgia but I'd probably reserve that for FU or P3rd
I personally solo everything up to endgame before I bother touching multiplayer in all of these games, but I know most people probably don't want to play like that so I feel it's worth mentioning.
This by a long shot.
Literally best game in the series (I really hate 4U's endgame and upgrading IG), not sure if anyone still plays it online.
I usually do this too, but I tend to divide it up by ranks so I can't just blitz through all the lower-level online content.
GU, World is still building things from the scratch and only recently added things like Zinogre, Barrioth etc. GU has much better roster, difficulty and weapon designs that aren't different colored feathers on a stick.
30fps and psp graphics, but a lot of content
Crazy cat lady simulator. I don't have room for all the cat builds I want to make
60fps mod
It depends what you want. World has a lot of QoL changes but also changes the core of the game to make it more of a spectacle. The older games are better in my opinion but all of them can be enjoyed. Fuck Gravios in FU though. Hate that fucker
GU feels more immersive in the sense of tracking monsters, gathering, learning the map and all of the mechanics + the entire roster.
But even with styles it just plays worse that World in combat. Plus playing as 4 in GU makes the game absolutely trivial
Can someone explain to my brainlet self how the styles effect the weapons?
>Also a bit of nostalgia
Yeah, could've just started with this one. Everything before it is an extremely weak if even an argument at all
ok
A ton of content. You can either play bananas crazy with the various playstyles or play guild if you want some more classic monster hunter.
How is talking about things you like about a game arguing? Why does everything have to be an argument?
Underwater is a fine standalone point in its favor
it'd be faster for you to watch a video than for me to write it out, but long story short and not quite accurate: different moveset and/or options/abilities
>Brave Greatsword isn't Guts
Guild = all the basic moveset
Striker = a bit less moves but you get 3 hunter arts
Aerial = gutted moveset but you can double jump on monsters and do a special aerial attacks and mount easily
Adept = you usually get 2/3rd of your moves but when roll into an attack you automatically evade ( think temporal mantle shit), during the evade you start sprinting and can usually do one really strong attack
Valor = shit moveset until you fill the valor gauge by attacking, then you become a god that can summon guard point out of thin air, rapidfire shell/shoot, do super strong and fast greatsword charges, also you can channel your sheathing animation draining your stamina and if you take a hit you'll only take 1/3rd of the damage and sheathe your weapon instantly
Alchemy = I think it's a bit like strikers but you can summon barrels that gives you random buffs for you and your party
>Why does everything have to be an argument?
Internet. You're wrong, i'm right.
styles are gay
THAT'S DEBATABLE
Some styles were fun.
Switch Axe Adept turning it into MUST SWITCH ALL THE TIME while allowing more weapon options was fun.
Sometimes it's just fun to be in a lobby of randos helping and fighting fun shit.
Thanks m8
Adept dual blades was fun too, it's anime swordsman mode
No, I'm saying that there is no reason to play MP at all.
Only thing you get is maybe better times but the quality of a hunt goes down significantly
Where's the "option" in the game that gives me back 4U DB, or undoes the shitty GS nerfs, or gives me a proper CB moveset, or adds some slots back on armor sets not named Silver Sol?
-Guild: Full moveset, 2 hunter arts.
-Striker: Simplified moveset, 3 hunter arts and faster hunter art charging time. "Strong" attacks like the lance charge's finisher stab may also get buffed.
-Aerial: Trade some moves for the ability to jump and launch yourself off a monster, even while it's attacking. The aerial roll makes for a decent free Evade Extender and improves the mobility of weapons like Gunlance, but isn't as good for repositioning. The missing moves are usually usable in the air out of the jump attack and powered up accordingly so you'll be spamming them a lot. 1 hunter art.
Adept: Similar to Aerial, you're trading some moves for a gimmick where you get extra iframes and go into a dash if you roll into a monster's attack. From that dash, you either get the missing attacks or some unique attacks. Makes for a good Evasion+2 replacement, but the dash takes a while so the effectiveness compared to actually having the skill will vary. Lance, Gunlance, and Charge Blade's sword mode get just guards instead of just evades. 1 hunter art.
Valor: Your moveset is heavily reduced until you fill up a gauge. To do this, your sheathing button has turned into an autododge that reduces the power of attacks that hit you while draining an insignificant amount of HP and stamina while you hold it. "Dodging" with this fills the gauge, but your missing attacks have also been moved to this stance in most cases and hitting with them fills the gauge more. Once in valor mode, you'll usually have the absolute strongest moveset for your weapon with a few exceptions until the bar empties. This is also the most unique moveset out of all the styles. Sheathing makes the bar empty faster, so aggression is encouraged.
-Alchemy: Similar to Striker, but your moveset is reduced in a weird and usually interesting way with some QoL feature like faster swaxe reload or faster wyvernfire on the side. 3 hunter arts. You get a barrel that makes items.
Or gives me 4U Charge Blade
I actually meant Valor Switch Axe, but yeah, the styles really could make some fun mixups.
They should have only do 2-3 styles per weapon though, because some feel uninspired Aka any SnS style.
Iceborne.
Put close to 300 hrs into this before switching to world, purely for population. How's the playercount for this still?
>Why can't I have my super broken spam blade!?
4U charge Blade was literal retard mode, they removed any and all of the build up needed so you just spammed AEDs all day via the one guardpoint.
This, I would've rather had 3 proper styles per weapon instead of 6 shitty ones that all just take moves away and then lock them behind some gimmick that makes gameplay incredibly one note and monotonous because that's what your playstyle becomes entirely based around
FU
The drawback of CB was in its extremely long and unsafe animations if you wanted to do any kind of damage, playing CB in 140s is insanely difficult compared to GS or IG while also still getting slower times. And yet CB got gutted way harder than either of those two weapons in Gen/GU.
still quite active
Objectively wrong retard-kun.
Iceborne is even more bland than OG World now because Safi'jiva and the metal Raths.
Gen Ultimate? In all honesty if you have it on switch it’s pretty lower in terms of population in comparison to 4U, I can’t say much about Double Cross though since I haven’t checked on it in while
Making items with alchemy's barrel raises the level of your SP mode and gives you some nice effects like regen and partbreaker. The items themselves are also pretty useful, like a whetstone that makes hunter arts fill faster. Also, the alchemy barrel can be taken out from an unsheathed position by holding R+Y during a roll or hop. It's handy as a more mobile sheathing option for slower weapons but kind of awkward to do.
shitty Monster Hunter compilation for 4Ubabs who didn't play older games.
>techmo koei
>god eater
>prefers world
as one would expect with someone who doesnt have good taste
>how they fucked up the multiplayer system
Could someone please explain this to me. I'm not doubting you. I really just don't understand how multiplayer used to work and what makes it so different. I know people hate the SOS stuff but I figured the gathering hub / session shit was the same as what the old games had.
Does that mean that MHXX is even more bland than MHX?
Iceborne is worse than World.
>The Drawback of CB was it's extremely long and unsafe animations.
>Learn to guardpoint
>Not only are you safer than a guardlance
>Your animations are also extremely quick
Nigga, GP into SED was the reason CB was so fucking broken.
Slower times means nothing when the DB are going to be the best at in anyway.
Still nightly Brachydios charm farming rooms.
I'm the one hosting them
4U has more pop than GU?
no, fuck YOU
And everyone who prefers GU likes Mario. I wonder why?
Only weapon I recall that has the Iceborne tier weapon dominance is Bow, and MHX sort of fixed that.
It's nowhere near as bad as Iceborne, where literally every gold Rathian Weapon is the best in it's field up until Safi'jiva, who is then better than everyone period.
AEDs are not "extremely quick", the only way to make them safe against endgame hunts is to count towards flinches
Genuinely enjoying iceborne purely for master rank and seeing shitters get carted by basic bitch mons
Is there any point in picking this up if I have FU on PSP? It's the only Monster Hunter game I own and I don't really understand how this series works. People make it sound like every game is a re-release but with an expansion.
>asking opinion on game in the nintendo thread
retard
I don't really care about what skin my weapon has, I'd rather have a game where I can play all 14 weapon types and not have them feel like shit, unlike GU
I still get rooms when I play 4u, but for some reason I can’t get anything in Gen Ultimate especially if I’m trying to do a specific monster like Crystal beard Uragaan
GU is trash, but its better than Iceborne.
I'm an FUfag, your console-war deflecting has zero affect and doesn't change the fact you have awful taste.
And yet you're whining about GS and IG being slightly better, you know, the two kings of 4U alongside Dual Blades.
And yes, an AED off of a GP is pretty quick, it's not as long of an animation as you think.
4U is still the much better game, the only advantage of GU is that GU's low tier weapons are slightly less shitty than 4U's, but most people don't play low tier weapons
Aerial GS. Just spam aerial GS
You can solo even the 4 deviant flagships with subpar equipment by just spamming aerial GS. You don't even get hit in the process. I know because I did it.
And yet Iceborne is full of extremely shit feeling weapons that have been tied down to flashy combo finishers.
Hell, as a Switch Axe main I thought the idea of the Axe boost move was good until I realised it's literally fucking pointless.
Interesting! I played the holy fuck out of 4U, close to a thousand hours (great time to spend when I worked in AK) so I suppose I'll just keep being a world shitter for now and wait for another classic mon hun.
I'm not whining, I'm saying calling out 4U CB for being overpowered is retarded when other weapons were both easier and more efficient, among the weapons that were actually worth playing CB was pretty much middle of the road
I'm talking more about weapon Options.
Aeriel GS can work with many GS types, you don't need to build ONE good weapon and all the rest are trash.
Ironically just like GS in Iceborne, where 99% of them are undervalued rubbish.
Remember, just spam aerial GS to win Double Cross.
You mean Use Valor HBG And LS
CB traded speed with complete safety, or do you forget a fully charged shield on the CB was BETTER than a Lance shield in 4U?
The CB was just as broken as the IG, it just had it's broken values in different areas; namely being a better lance than the lance, a better hammer than the hammer and a better switch axe than the switch axe.
Just like how the IG was a better SnS and LS.
My Frostcraft build works will my raw and elemental GS.
One thing about MH you need to learn, preferably since 15 years ago: YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY.
SA has been good in exactly one (1) game (Gen), what are you expecting?
Still, there's a reason why literally over half of all hunts on youtube in GU are done with 2 weapons. You don't see that kind of thing with Iceborne.
Valor DB as well because you get a guardpoint on your dash too.
If you're playing GenU you lose the sharpness buff though.
>complete safety
I mean sure if you only ever used sword mode I guess
If you wanted to actually do damage that safety would go out the window though
I'm not disagreeing that the top weapons in 4U made most of the remaining weapons obsolete though but honestly that kind of thing is pretty much unavoidable when you keep adding more weapons
Frostcraft is a meme build that does nowhere near the damage of simply slam and shoot.
I don't even see the appeal of it besides it sort of being the old version of GS.
But you have to actually do more than one move. Just. Spam. Aerial. GS.
world by a landslide if you care about gameplay. and no loading between areas is so much better.
k
I guess because you think that that makes GU superior.
>4U
Does it still have an online community? I guess I don't even really care, but shit it was the tops.
Valor DB does absolutely damage outside of a few very slow, very elementally weak monsters like Akantor and Uragaan.
