I think part of it's that having a future tourney to look forward to makes it feel too risky for a lot of people to play shadow games against each other on a frequent basis.

Oh yeah, someone last thread mentioned 60 card decks, and I actually think it's a really interesting idea, since it reduces some of the consistency these decks have been getting, but on the other hand it kills a potential mill deck and buffs lightsworns and the like.
