Almost every map comes with a side quest to hunt a unique/reskinned monster and Hammerlock always pipes up to mention something about it. In the main quest he's been imprisoned by the BBEG and you rescue him, he gives 1 side mission then gets shot and frozen by his sister and you rescue him. A lot of his ECHOs are about how gay he is. Other than that he doesn't really contribute much. Side characters in BL2 that come back in BL3 are pushed even more to the side to make way for the writer's annoying Tannis wank.
