I played through NGB and loved it and am just now playing NG2 for the first time. It’s so batshit insane compared to the first game that I can’t help but be in awe.

I'm playing NGS right now and while it's a lot of fun there are a few things I haven't really figured out. Is there supposed to be a lag or something on blocking or does it just not cancel you out of any animations? It feels almost random whether I actually block attacks or not a lot of the time even when I definitely push the button in time. Also can you do anything to counter grabs or do you just have to not get so close to enemies?
I feel like I'm really shit at the game even though it's fun, that optional part in mission 3 where you fight waves of guys took me like 10 tries and it's hard to stop myself from spamming flying swallow all the time.

you can do shuriken and guard cancels

You can't cancel attacks with block, but you can cancel attacks with shurikens. You can also use shurikens to open up enemies for combos, there's a good stagger on them. Get used to the X+A jump, it's targeted making it very good for landing flying swallow. Also guillotine throw (double tap X+A) is your fastest option for i-frames. X+A > A is wind path, it's good for staggering enemies and repositioning. You have to be on the move to avoid grabs.

Counter attacks are easy in Black/Sigma. You can pretty much mash out X/Y out of block. In 2 there's an animation to time.

Earth Defense Force really helped me understand. armada of hundred motherfucking ants might be tanking your framerate but damn if it still isn't satisfying laying rockets in the middle of their legion and watching green gunk and corpses splash across the screen.

God I wish this was ported to pc. Heard they lost the source code though.

I would recommend bayo 1 and sekiro. As far as limbs flying around go shadow of war scratches the itch for me even though it's bamham.

well it's on xbox games pass now, maybe if a ninja gaiden 4 is ever in the cards, TN/koei tecmo will consider porting the series to pc. I don't think MS would stop them if they put ngb, ng2 and ng3re on steam or something

the sigma games are probably tied up with sony and tbqh I hope they would consider porting the OGs instead of the sigmas.

The initial release of 3 is a disaster. 3 Razor's Edge fixes most of the original's problems. I still prefer 2 though.

NG2 had simplified water running and acrobatics if I'm not mistaken.

Should be good but you can get the sigmas and 3:RE if you just need more.

Movement and acrobatics is the same as in NG1 but the water running did not require tapping A button.

You still have to tap A in ng2 to keep running on water.

Yeah, it was changed in Sigma versions.

Black/Sigma also had chapters, the difference is that a few areas were interconnected, pushing for some minor exploration.

I did, surprisingly solid for something that is entirely dependant on the NDS stylus gameplay.
