It's my understanding that his core programming was imprinted by the first guy that drew him, and by the time he was damaged on top of that he had already seen, and performed, immense acts of cruelty and violence.

That's factually wrong, since the other members of Torna have a lot of respect, and care for Jin throughout the story. Regardless of his specific relationship with Malos, he still had the love of everyone else in his party. That's the equivalent of me saying you're gay, because you have a really close relationship with one of your bros, compared to the other friends in your life.

Jin was definitely straight, since his entire reason for wanting to nuke the Earth, was because he lost Lora, and on a lesser level, Haze. Malos was definitely bordering on homosexuality, though. He didn't have a true Driver, since he cut ties with Amalthus, and you know Blades need a Driver to support them. Jin was the leader, Malos stepped back as the vice.

Malos, maybe. Not Jin. Still my 2 favourite characters though, I hope they choose to focus on the trinity cores and at least Malos is back in Xenoblade 3.
Where is it implied? The only scene I really got homo vibes from was the one before the final Jin fight, and that's because you rarely see non- romantically related characters hugging in Jrpgs.

I think you're getting him mixed up with Cole a bit, Jin is a successful Flesh eater so he wouldn't have the disease. He was weakend in chapter 9 becuase his core was damaged in Morytha.

They're right about a lot of the problems with the world, but they're the wrath in XB2's deadly sins for a reason. Instead of looking to solve those problems and make life better for Bladekind, they're blinded by a pursuit for "justice" that's just them getting their vengeance and dying along with everything else.

I don't think they're supposed to be a couple - they're close, but Jin seems like someone who's largely closed himself off emotionally to others, and only recognizes his mistake in doing so after it's too late. Malos absolutely comes across as being gay as hell for Jin, though.

Flesh Eaters are too unstable to truly ascertain whether or not they're truly failures or not. Her healing powers more than likely enhanced after becoming a Flesh Eater as well, as she apparently didn't have the power to heal her sister, but had the ability to apparently revive Niall from mortal injury during the main story.

Given what we see in the world, you can't say this isn't somewhat justified given Amalthus turned out how he did because of what the world did to him. Also there was the flashback in Torna of the refugees fighting among themselves with Addam asking if they were worth saving.

That's why I consider Nia to be something of a more advanced Flesh Eater. Her powers have certainly been boosted after consuming flesh. Otherwise she could have likely saved her sister.
Even Jin, a successful Flesh Eater, was showing signs of weakness after being alive for hundreds of years.

I think he was a very relateable character.
He had seen enough horrors and REALLY, REALLY wanted humanity to turn out better than before, he spent a shit ton of time developing new systems to push them in a better direction.
Him not immediately understanding that it's more complex than that and a partial fuckup isn't automatically a whole fuckup, is stupid and short sighted, but by being stupid and shortsighted he truly is human in the end.
A human god still has human limitations, his disappointement and propensity to give up are completely reasonable given his circumstances, it all makes him easy to relate to, regardless if one would do better or worse than him.
