Now that the dust has finally settled, how would you rate Red Dead Redemption II?
Now that the dust has finally settled, how would you rate Red Dead Redemption II?
9/10
Not as good as the first one but still solid.
Haven’t played it yet tho.
6/10, didn't finish
The idea of a "progressive cowboy" is weird as fuck to me
7/10 it had such kino moments that I put up with a looot of shit, especially that fucking island.
That’s because you’re a larping retard with no idea of how history or reality works
Very good, also Arthur > Marston. Don't give me any (you)s.
same
first one is 10/10
8/10, First one was better.
Single Player: 9/10
Online: 2/10
Never have I played a game that I both loved and absolutely hated at the same time.
9.5/10 story and 6/10 gameplay
Better as a youtube video/10
Overrated story with remarkably shitty writing and some of the worst controls and combat of the last decade.
Dragged on in the end.
But at the time I thought that was fitting. I was waiting for the game to end and Arthur was waiting to die.
8.5/10
Cowboys were the most progressive people of that time period, given they were rebelling against the status quo.
single player is 8-9/10
multiplayer is garbage. has some neat ideas but doesn't go deep into them so it just feels like a lobby to fuck around in but with expensive as shit cosmetics and guns that force you to grind shitty jobs that you need to grind for in the 1st place, even gta online felt more rewarding because you'd go from a bum with a shit car to several apartments, garage filled with cars, you could upgrade your office to look nicer with functionality such as a big ass garage, businesses were almost equally as dumb but there are so many at this point that you can really just pick your poison. while rdo is just farm bounty hunter and dailies for gold and farm collectors for cash, everything else gives really shitty payouts, oh and there's very little reason to even spend your money
5/10, good characters, world and the shooting itself is pretty fun, the rest is mediocre or just garbage
10/10, first one was 9/10, the second one was just an improvement in every aspect
no the most progressive people of the time period were the people fighting for labor union and women's rights. not gangs who killed and robbed innocents
Enjoyed it, but it wasn't as fun or as gripping as the first one.
Score was fantastic though. Probably the best in any game I've played.
I hate the manual gun cocking thing. It's good only in concept. Not to mention it's jankily coded as fuck.
Everything about the game is basically 10/10(music, sound design, graphics, voice acting, story) EXPECT for the gameplay. I really tried to like this game but just didn't really enjoy myself. Overall 5.5/10.
>the second one was just an improvement in every aspect
how can people say this when the control is blatantly worse. do you actually enjoy the input delay?
7.5/10
story needed to branch out more, but I understand this is Rockstar.
Needed stronger character development.
Needed more colour and wrinkles in the story instead of being predictable from the start.
Needed bigger, longer and more side content/mission strands.
Needed more RPG-esque singleplayer elements.
Needed better multiplayer.
Needed more things to do after finishing the story.
I got bored few hours in. Gunplay is average, traveling is tediously boring and the story wasn't getting interesting... It felt soulless, tbqh. I regret paying full price for it.
8/10, some parts didn't need to be so drawn out, you don't need a whole ass animation for every single thing
Having said that, kino as fuck with some genuine, emotional moments. The party after you return Jack to camp comes to mind, ngl I cried I know I'm a faggot
0/10 because the port kept crashing and I had to refund.
What are the chances this shit will get a ps5 re-release? I have base ps4 but I heard it runs like shit on that.
6/10
It is not at all what I wanted. The "death of the west" theme was done much better and more dramatic in the first game. Here it feels aimless. The focus on the gang is boring. I wish we got a new story with new characters.
9/10
The World, atmosphere and story as a whole are top notch. Arthur Morgan is probably the most well established and thought out video game protagonists Ive ever played as. Enjoying and exploring the world itself was a treat and the game despite running on old hardware looked fantastic on my og PS4. There was enough moments to make it feel cinematic at times but it mostly shone in just riding around, hunting and finding neat things around the map. I could have probably played the story forever, but it ended at the right time. The only issue I felt was some of the annoyance with getting off the horse and your weapons being reset, the shooting not being entirely interesting, and the gun mods not really mattering all that much. Oh and no high stakes poker or stuff to spend money on late game.
Otherwise a near flawless experience. I dont think my 1060 will handle it so well on a 2560 monitor so Ill wait off on the pc version till I upgrade.
I played it on a base PS4 and I didn't have any issues
You're meming but it's unironically true. I finished it and did every side mission, then watched the story back again and it's the superior exeperience for the story mode. Obviously if you wanna roleplay and make your own narrative then playing it yourself is better.
I can't be the only one who thinks Dead Eye absolutely ruins the combat in this game, right?
I has 0 interest in this franchise, until one day I decided to watch a scene from the epilogue (the boat scene) cuz why not, I wasn't gonna play it anyway
but damn that scene by itself made me play both rdr1 and 2 and I ended up loving them both
Not as good as the first but great in it's own ways.
I think it helps differentiate some of the guns but I also know exactly what you mean. I wish only the pistols needed to be cocked manually, since they also have the most with different firing mechanisms. It made getting those early semiautos pretty great, even if they were weaker overall.
I think the semiautomatic shotgun is the only two handed gun that you don't cock manually.
Really? I heard it was a stutterfest in towns? I'm waiting till May before trying the PC ver again but I'm not expecting much from cockstar pc ports.
I'm not some cockstroking FPSfag so maybe I have "lower standards" but it was perfectly fine and playable. I didn't have any moments where I was upset at the game technically.
>have rifle equipped
>double tap holster button in multiplayer
>unequips rifle
>double tap holster button in singleplayer
>doesn't unequip rifle
Just fucking tell me I'm not the only person bothered by this.
I fucking hate Arthur, I don't get why everyone loves him so much.
why?
no
I just don't mind it as much as a lot of people on here. I hardly ever notice it and I never notice it during combat.
4/10
Just pure garbage. Reasons why have been discussed relentlessly
It would’ve been better as a TV show.
7/10. Would have been a much better game had you not had to tap x for hours just to start missions. And if every mission wasn't "talk talk talk, set up thing, oh shit thing went bad time to shoot bad guys, okay now ride away". The riding to mission start points and only being able to walk in camp really padded out the game and grated on my nerves. Still some really kino story moments though. Shame Arthur never fucked any of the widows he came across.
I love Dead Eye, I won't ever touch the multiplayer because it's not there, the game is piss easy enough that bullet time makes no difference anyway so why not have some fun with it
Story and the actual gunplay are 9/10, but all the nonsense travel time and dumb fucking animations really pad out the game time for no reason. Why do you have to walk in camp? The Gambler challenges are also some of the worst shit ever put in a game. I enjoyed it, but it probably would have made a better movie.
Dutch was always some psycho who thought he was Robin fucking Hood. That was his character in the first game, too
I don't really like numbers. I enjoyed it from a story perspective, like as a journey the devs wanted to put the people on. I enjoyed the world and the detail in NPCs and animals and stuff.
Shit, man, a friend of mine just died, and I think about life being like Building a house and dancing to "cruel cruel world" instead of wallowing in despair like I had been a couple days ago.
WELCOME BACK
Source?
Yeah I played the game on a shitty old Xbox One. The frame rate never seemed to dip substantially for me.
Right now it's an 8/10. In 3 years it will be a 6/10, in 10 years a 4/10 until it becomes completely forgotten outside of Wikipedia.
6.5 outta ten, fun world but bullshit mission structure and gun play
what do you mean, source? it was the fucking progressive era
Yeah, source for your claims that cowboys weren't progressives.
Will Rockstar finally port Red Dead Redemption to PC? Call me a fag but I’d be pumped up if Red Dead 1 came out on the new engine or whatever
>Arthur Morgan is probably the most well established and thought out video game protagonists Ive ever played as.
>ur a gud mang arhor
>*kills and steals*
If you go around stealing and Killing while having high morality, Author has some dialogues in camp where he wonders if he's going crazy.
Damn, I guess arthur was a well written character after all.......
like a low 7/10
first half was great, and the entire world is great, but the story shits the bed from Guarma onwards
general gameplay is okay if a bit shallow
There is literally nothing fun to do in this game except shoot people
i actually only played online. the combat system is extremely satisfying and waifu game was on point. otherwise it was kinda dull.
Nice, nice. At least I have ps4 as an option then.
>waifu game was on point
What are you talking about, the character creator is fucking awful, legitimately one of the worst i've ever seen.
I haven't managed to make a single decent looking woman.
What progressive?
Arthur thinks people who want to take part in politics are stupid.
You do know you can block right?
Started a new game 2-3 times now, never got past the cannibal woods because the game gets so fucking depressing.
100+ GB is overkill but other than that it's a great game.
What a perfect vehicle to claim political neutrality with when presenting blatant historical revisionism
It's not political neutrality, seeing RDR2 and GTA V, it's clear Dan Houser things idealists are scum, which would be true, idealists are the worst trash that humanity has ever created and deserve the mockery of everyone.
the block button is super laggy in that game. also it's not like losing to him matters since i'm going to kill him anyways.
just take your time with the creator. also madam nazar is cute af.
no, not unless they plan to revamp the online part of it. multiplayer is a major part of rockstar now
I did, and it's just impossible to not make the character have a massive square jaw.
great game. after finishing it I recommend getting to chapter 4 and just exploring if you ever want to come back
Animations made controlling the character unbearable. This on top of endless cutscenes and riding to waypoints. Waste of fucking time.
6/10
Beautiful but awful gameolay, and obnoxious cutscene integration. It somehow manages to be far less fun to play than RDR 1, which was a solid 8/10. Until Rockstar fixes their awful gameplay, they'll never get a 9 from me.
