Lords of Shadow is a bad game

Too much padding. If they just deleted it, the game of course be shorter but much more enjoyable.
They stole too many bosses from Shadow of the Colossus too.

The game was fine overall. But it's a castelvania game in the name only.

As a lifelong fan of all Castlevania games, Lords of Shadow is the worst game (Not just Castlevania game, but just game) I've ever played. It's horrible and it ended up putting Castlevania in its grave.

2 was a great manlet simulator.

Nope, that's the result of the art director leaving mid-development due to the game director being an asshat.
I wish that one screenshot I took from the city ruins didn't fall victim to a HDD crash since it showed how some normal apartment doors are like twice the size of Gabriel.

Great art direction, great voice acting, amazing soundtrack.

The cons:
GoW clone combat, level design, camera work, lack of weapons, bullshit platforming sections.

I'm not an avid Castlevania fan, and I thought it was OK at best, but my sole reason for liking it is because I loved the art direction. The sequel is a fucking disaster though. A shame since the cinematic teaser was amazing, plus I was on board on playing as Dracula only to end up being playing again as Gabriel but with the ability to turn into rats and rats with wings.

Reminder that the Netflix series is such faggy fanfiction that the producer is merging it with his upcoming DMC and hyper light drifter adaptations into a "shared universe." Multiple completely unrelated IPs now a shared universe, just because a poo thinks it's cool, and gay Alucard is officially extremely NON-CANON as a result (not that he wasn't already non-canon anyway).

this game was so fucking kino. unironically one of the best games I ever played in my life. The story was so good. It was the focal, major game of my teenagehood.

A GoW clone with some Shadow of the Colossus boss fights, Patrick Stewart and a shit sequel with a semi-decent dlc campaign. Haven't played Mirror of Fate, but I've heard it's passable if you want a more side-scrolling Castlevania game.

Yeah, I thought the Metroid 2 remake was fun enough so I don't hate Mercury Steam but i remember Mirror of Fate getting shat on like crazy on launch
I have that combo pack of the first game and that on PS3 and LoS2. I don't expect they'll be anywhere as kino as my favorite Castlevanias but after enjoying the Netflix series enough I've been wanting to go back and try some of the weirder games in the series, starting with these
