Near: A Tomato Thread

The biggest thing and one of the most baffling decisions in this game is the fact that hit reactions are tied to your level so if you are too low of a level, attacks that would normally flinch enemies won't and the game doesn't even let you break there armor to get a stagger off of them. This in itself is a problem but what makes it even worse is that the scale gets completely flipped if you are over the enemies level where in some cases they can just die without putting up much of a fight making your best chance at balancing the combat to keep yourself at the same level as your enemies. Problem is, they never put in some way for you to stop your experience (only bring it down) and there isn't any mode in the game that makes it so everything levels up with you which would've been a better option than the one hit kill difficulty which is horrible in a game with as many runbacks and lack of checkpoints as this but i'll get to that later.

The worst part about this is that platinum had already done this better before in transformers devastation which also had a levelling system with loot, equippable ability chips and different difficulty levels that gradually raised the enemies stats but none of that is tied to your ability to flinch and combo enemies.

The dodge system is also terrible. I understand they wanted to make the game accessible to RPG enthusiasts but that was what easy mode was for. The fact that it is legitimately better to spam the dodge button in this game rather than time it for anything is really stupid and it isn't helped by the fact that hitboxes are terrible.

The fact that the same team went to make motherfucking Astral Chain without Taro cements the fact that his hackery and storyfaggotry ruined the game.

If combat is the reason you play games it's not the game for you.

The combat is absolutely shallow compared to pretty much every Platinum game. People like Automata for its story, not its gameplay.
Which is funny because that's the mantra of any Tarofag, and even now it hasn't changed.

One of my favorite games. Just wish it had more customization for weapons and chipsets.

I love how Taro, and all his games, were a reasonably respected sub-community on here because it was small enough for it not to be bait for morons who latch onto anything popular and try and be dismissive, then Automata got popular and you get shit like OP constantly and especially retards like who clearly can only see the game as a Platinum game and not a Taro one.

I wish I could draw at all. I'm taking some drawing classes, but they're not really helping. The only thing we do is try to draw whatever the teacher has put on the table, and when I tell her I don't really know how to go about drawing it after making a failed attwmpt she just says "What you've made is fine, just keep going".

yeah it was like 25 but then came the game of the yorha edition which is basically the same but now costs 40 bucks again. and they didn't fix any of the flaws the pc release had. of course you can't just buy the standard edition anymore, just like it was with dark souls

You'd be surprised at how many people will jump into a franchise mid-way and show now interest in prior installments. This applies not only to games but media in general.
Most of the time the complaints boil down to the earlier entries appearing too "old" on a graphical or mechanical level. Tons of people won't touch NieR just because it's fairly archaic relative to Automats.

The story is just "I'm a real boy!!!" told in the most pseudo intellectual manner possible. The combat is inferior to any other action game.

I liked it, but I'm a sucker for a game with a soundtrack I like. I ended up buying the score book in the hope that I'll be able to play some of the songs when I'm less shit at playing the piano.

Also, if you play games for any reason at all except robot waifus, Nier: Automata probably isn't for you.

Finally someone who agrees with me. Aside from Simone (the opera singer robutt) every boss is extremely forgettable. For a game that's trying to mingle with """character action""" giants like DMC and Bayonetta, it sure fell flat in this department.

automata was hot garbage only popularized because of hentai, notice how the other nier games never got the same attention because lack of hentai.
