You all know HK is a fucking outlier. Hollow Knight is NOT the average Metroidvania.
7-15 hours is more than enough for the average game.

HK raised the bar significantly.
Not only is it half the price of Ori, it also has much more tight and fluid controls, challenging bosses and a larger more fun to explore world.
Saying "yeah well most metroidvanias are short and mediocre" isn't a good argument.

Where did you get filtered? I was the same and dropped it for a year before even beating pantheon 1, came back and did a fresh playthrough and got gud suddenly then beat pantheon 5.

I don't think they've given up, but I do think they've realized that pushing is not gonna' work. You need to do it gentle, tempt the masses, and make them think it's their choice.
