The truth that Yas Forums doesn't want to acknowledge is that PC gamers and console gamers are rarely overlapping markets. There's a reason they call it the console wars after all.
PC gamers will not buy consoles and console gamers will not buy consoles, while idorts who buy both are rare. Therefore porting games to PC is free money as long as the competitor in the console market doesn't get them. Microsoft already learned this and Sony is next.

PC players waited 3+ years for HZD without buying a PS4, what makes you think they won't wait the same for PS5 exclusives now that they KNOW it will eventually come to PC?

That's still 5 million sales on a new console which is nothing to snuff at.
Also its unlikely that they'll release a PC port at the same time as the sequel. Sony might pull another 1 year exclusivity or like in this case wait till the generation is over to port it.

What kind of innovation does making a game exclusive to a console breed? If anything it prohibits innovation since by making a game exclusive it doesn't have to compete with games from other platforms.

That's exactly it. With production costs going higher with each generation it would make sense for both Sony and Microsoft to get as many sales as possible even if it means releasing their games on PC.
They're trying to create that new buzzword environment they've been talking about going into the next gen.
