Dark Souls

Can we all pretty much agree that AT LEAST half of levels in DS1 sucked dick? It's beyond me how fanboys pretend that it's still the best in the series.

i see what you are saying but nothing really overcomes going into anor londo in any other game. user londo really made the game neat.

New Londo is nothing the cursed sword of Artorias can't handle

That's like the first area they worked on and it's by far the most polished in the game. Still doesn't excuse the rest.

oh yeah, well anor londo is the second half of the game so you are still right.

whats worse smashfags or soulsfags?

havent met a soulfag who doesnt shower yet.

It's the best in the series because the other games have an even higher ratio of levels that suck to ones that don't.

The only two things bad about New Londo are the lack of a bonfire and that transient curses don't have some sort of icon or aura. Its actually one of the better levels in the game, same with Catacombs which gets a lot of hate I don't really get.

>die to the bullshit DPS race boss in New Londo
>dude just redo the whole area from scratch, starting from firelink
>what, your firelink bonfire is gone?
>just restart from Undead Parish then xDDD
HOW THE FUCK DO PEOPLE EXCUSE THIS

There's a shortcut that gets you to the boss fog in 2 minites by dropping down

DS1 is fucking trash man why are you playing it

Post-lordvessel loations are worse than the ones in the beginning, but they are still cool IMO. Yeah even KFC land.

Just played through Dark Souls and I can say only Izalith is shit

Valley of Drakes is the only disappointing area as it lacks depth and a cool boss

Ash Lake is atmospheric as fuck (but holy lol if you go there without warp)

New Londo is the superior Londo

The level itself is still good though, interesting enemies and level design.

"We" cannot. Your opinion is very wrong.

The only place I could say I dislike is Demon Ruins/Izalith because as we all know its unfinished and just dotted with dragon asses and those little fat fire spewing demons. Other than that other zones feel decent or even great.

Well you just met one now

I know that there are more images like this can someone dump them please

I haven't played Souls 1 in a while, and I know I'm at least tackling New Londo post-Lord Vessel, but what's next after that? Should I just start over from scratch?

i still respect you more than a smashfag. dont forget that user.

lord vessel is like the halfway point

People love bitching about Demon Ruins/Izalith in DS1, saying that it's unfinished blah blah blah. But they did finally finish and flesh out the area when you revisit it in DS3. Was it a fun experience?

>Ash Lake is atmospheric as fuck (but holy lol if you go there without warp)

God. I did this the first time I played the game. I was exploring the bottom of Blight Town when I found my way into that tree and then to Ash Lake. I had not expected to find one secret area, let alone two, so it was pretty cool. But the trip back up to the Blight Town swamp was less cool.

I actually liked all the levels.

Nothing beats the first half though. The exploration, the verticality, and the cohesive world makes it feel way more like a consistent world.

To me the first half of Dark Souls is probably the best fantasy atmosphere ever created.

So, should I go to Grave Lord Nito after this?

>he doesn't experiment or explore
lol git gud

Well that's something. Thanks user. I feel better about myself

Haven't played DS3, but if you removed about 20 of them, removed the orange glow and made the ring protect you from lava for 100%, the area would have been fine

But as is, the area sucks

I want to play DS2 and 3 after 1, do you feel that way about them? What's wrong with them?

>The only two things bad about New Londo are the lack of a bonfire and that transient curses don't have some sort of icon or aura
Transient curses have an aura.

Izalith Ruins, New Londo were the only bad ones I recall. Everything was ok, I didn't have problems

DS1 had blighttown and that is pretty much it.

I don't understand the love for Anor Londo
>Lots of empty walking space, this is really bad too since all the bonfires are too far from the boss room.
>Silver Knights and Painting Guardians are the boring main enemies, while the more interesting enemies are used sparingly or don't respawn.
>That stupidly placed Titanite Demon in a tiny room, should have either been on the roof or the bottom of the painting room
>Silver Knights don't patrol like they should, they also have a oddly short aggro range.
>Batwing Demons don't fly like they should, don't even try to give me the illusion excuse, Demons Souls already had flying enemies it just wasn't implemented in time in Dark Souls, there is even code for Drakes to fly but its off.
>The seemingly half implemented twilight Anor Londo, which actually doesn't change much
The rafters in the top part of the painting room, the archers, and Ornstein and Smough are the best and most memorable parts of the area but they don't elevate the level to greatness to me.

Play DS3 first as it's a direct sequel and the mechanics are very close to DS1, DS2 is more of a spin-off by another director, completely self-contained story, some weird ass new mechanics etc, still a decent game, but save it for later.

But Blighttown was comfy. If you go in through the side exit

Yes I used the wrong your in my original post. You caught it. Sugoi faggot.

Not him, but I feel like DS3 is still decent, aesthetically/level wise, even if it's not as complex or interconnected as DS1 was. Obviously first half of DS1 is best, I feel like DS3 remains on some level enjoyable throughout the whole time

That ballista drove me nuts, but all in all I loved it. I especially appreciated how it was mixed with ash lake.

Good call as I own it from a Humble Monthly, but just have only gotten around to DS1 recently.

DS2 seems to get a lot of flack but I totally want to play it at some point.

I was thinking more of the first time go, blighttown wasn't hard it was just annoying because of the toxic darts and being dark didn't help.
There isn't any other area imho that is just annoying rather than challenging in first DS game.

i think technology limitations happened, anor londo is ENTIRELY rendered for some reason, almost nothing you see there is some basic jpg and its all rendered in, theres always loads of cut content cut in these games. Probably had a lot more in anor londo but patrolling knights and better positioned enemies would of probably taken a toll on the 360 as much as it was already.

my assumption anyways, or they just started working on other shit and it ended up just being like that.

I actually never figured out how to beat the asses by myself, I gave up after like 20 tries and just learnt a way to avoid them completely.

Yeah the batwing demons always fall down to their doom despite being like the most aerial looking creatures in the game, it's so bizarre.

Why? They give very little souls, have high HP. Why even kill them?

Painted World was the first one.
AL has such shit like the whole thing floating above a black void, winged demons dropping off ledges into their death, rafters that your character can't even stand on properly in his idle position or walls with no collision detection.

Yeah I'm not gonna say don't try it. Definitely see for yourself whether it's a game for you or not. Can't really rely on everyone else. DS2 recieves some mixed reviews. Some hate it, others swear by it. You be the judge. Also I'd say DS3 is a must play

Don't play DS3 if you already played BB. It's Bloodborne lite, you'll be severely disappointed. Build variety is little to nonexistent because they nerfed hex, Miracles, magic to oblivion and also no poise.

You can lure one to one of the islands, when he comes over you just bait and punish, pretty straightforward but there's no reason to fight them, just use fog ring or keep your distance.

>>The seemingly half implemented twilight Anor Londo, which actually doesn't change much

It seemed so cool when it happened but yeah, was disappointed

the worst ds1 level is still head and shoulders above an average ds2 level (both design-wise and in terms of topological coherency)
If half of ds1 levels were shit, then ds2 is officially a pre-alpha build.

It's a well balanced area between skill and knowledge about the game, that's where I spent most of my time while waiting for Alvina's summoning.

By the way, get the fuck out of my forest.

>Don't play DS3 if you already played BB.

Haven't played it, Outward introduced me to the Souls series and it's basically Dark Souls without bosses.

Piss off, DS2 had some absolutely amazing levels like Lost Bastille and Huntsman's Copse, none of the levels in DS1 even come any close.

Play it according to order. Don't listen to the tards here recommending to play 3 over 2 first.

^
sorry i'm not replying to bait

everything you are saying is false. BB is the one that is DS3 lite, with one viable strategy just like Sekiro it's a souls spinoff.
While DS3 is all about variety, it's about creating shit you want the way you want it and game will not stop you and indeed encourage you to create what you wish.
Also poise is different but works about 10 folds better than in BB or DS2.

Try it out for yourself. DS3 still has viable pyromancy builds, last I checked poise is more connected with your weapon this time, which is weird.

I don't know, I think I beat one or two, but it was so long ago and I don't remember, I saw an enemy and tried to kill it, but it always destroyed my ass so I gave up.
I just followed a path I made in my mind, figured it was easier to ignore them than kill them for useless souls.

>Lost Bastille
You know what I enjoy? It's being dex fag with little to no vitality and getting swarmed with two handed enemies that one shot you. That is good experience, that.

holy bait

>dex fag
>not having the RAPEier by that point in the game
shaking my head dude

Stay deluded faggot. There's only 2 viable builds as far as I'm concerned. You either go light armor STR or be a Dex faggot. Dark Souls 3 will forever be Bloodborne's unwanted bitch.
