What happened to F-Zero?
What happened to F-Zero?
m2 made a perfect game and it couldn't be topped.
Sega couldn't be topped by nintendo.
Sales were never good enough to put ahead of other IPs.
Miyamoto shutting down new games unless they do "something new"
Maybe a similar situation to HL3 where projects started but never went anywhere
Nintendo isn't as open with their methodology
these + f-zero existed largely as a tech demo, as racing games often are. the snes game was "look how fast we can make a snes game look, mode seven dude", the n64 game was showing you can have a 60 fps game on the system while going fast, and GX was showing not only 60 fps but also great visuals.
however with the wii nintendo stopped giving a shit about visuals entirely, meaning there was no longer any tech in order to show off. while sister series star fox was also kind of a tech demo series, they used it's bigger appeal to at least tech demo hardware gimmicks. f-zero is too specific in what it can be so it was left to the wayside
Apparently they asked Criterion a few years back to make a new game but they were busy with Need For Speed and couldn't immediately make the game but they were interested in doing it next and Nintendo was like "nope lol now or never" and that was it. They just pulled it.
Nintendo are fucking autistic.
which F-zero game did they do? GX?
a shame too. I'd gladly play another one.
shiggy keeps going "wtf you want new gameu? Go pray old gameu!"
that was confirmed to be a false rumour I believe.
Diddy Kong Racing 2 would sell more anyways.
Why does Konami, Capcom, Sega and Sony sit on classic IP and not make new games?
Too fucking expensive these days to make games and anything not a guaranteed success is too much of a risk. Game development has bloated and exploded in costs, staff and time (average 3-5 years to develop a game now) that we'll never see beloved IP again unless it's literally indie shit, i.e Streets Of Rage 4
>Why does
Why do
"Why does" is correct only when referring to a single entity
I find the prospect of a new F-Zero for the Switch with incredible visuals, a nice rocky soundtrack, and whip-fast speed to be far more exciting than another kart racer.
Canceled. Guess what starfox adventure is? Miyamoto's way of killing diddy kong racing because thats what universe it was in
kirby mario zelda hehe haha huehewhue
Do you want F-Zero Brawl, F-Zero Zero or F-Zero Ziplash?
By the way, the anime's failiure was partially responsible for the series going down. Who thought that a series with main character being literally inspired by Judge fucking Dredd wouldn't make a good kids cartoon?
And then they didn't even try to capitalise on it with merch to make up the costs. The only official F-Zero merchandise I can find are slot cars released for the first F-Zero and obviously the Falcon amiibo.
"Sorry , user;"
Nintendo stopped giving a fuck about it after X and it became pretty much a third party series.
was only visually inspired by the Judge surely? They don't have a lot in common.
I would like to know why they haven't made a "F-Zero maker".
They have, before the makers were a thing
How much does Japan like F-Zero?
It ran its course
The two GBA games couldn't both have been tech demos, and GX came out too late in the consoles lifecycle to have been merely a tech demo. It must not have been making series mulah though.
1.5 mil was good for the gamecube
Tech demo might not be the right word. Power showcase is more apt, GX is easily the best-looking and best running game on Gamecube.
Maximum Velocity is a launch title for GBA, shows that it can run one of the more impressive SNES titles. GP Legend is an anime tie-in.
Punch out came for Wii after only, what, 2 games ever? Since the since the snes era? Granted, Punch Out was ideal for the money-making machine that was the Wii.
>Who thought that a series with main character being literally inspired by Judge fucking Dredd wouldn't make a good kids cartoon?
Captain Falcon wasn't the protagonist of the F-Zero anime. This guy was.
And thats the problem.
It's a very Japanese 50s-80s retro-future style racing game. Just this opening segment of chapter 3 from GX presents that design theory quite nicely, I think: youtube.com
Oh, also, as seen in that video -- Drinking of alcohol and gambling would be a big fat fucking no no in today's modern, cancel culture climate. Especially for fucking Nintendo. So the depiction of the world of F-Zero would need to be neutered of some of its elements. Hell, one of the racers is pretty much constantly on drugs as a performance enhancer so he can race better.
>This guy was.
But user. That's Captain Falcon 2.
I always loved the look, but hated the awkwardness of these cutscenes. Also, I've spent some real time searching for the full song that plays throughout that scene but can't find it anywhere.
That assumes the average switch isn't used by single moms to keep their retards busy with party games, or that Nintendo cares enough to make a good game.
horseshit, racing is just like any other genre of sports games, it has to be casual as fuck or pure autism for any real number of people to want to play it, anything more arcade or experience focused is going to get ignored, right now you have boring shit with real life cars and that sells, and you have mario-fucking-kart and that is fucking IT
it definitely isn't.
which racer is that? The one on drugs.
I always thought the world of F-zero, as it was depicted in GX anyway, was very much like some kind of hybrid between a dreamworks movie and Futurama, but the quality of the writing and acting just wasn't quite up to par with movie industry standards. A shame, because that fucking bar scene right there always looked very much alive. There's so much going on in it.
I'm going to have to assume that Wipeout is longer a major seller on Playstation, but there was an F-zero clone on Wii U that actually did alright for itself on the eshop. It was a budget title. Pity Yahtzee never reviewed any F-zero games...he surely must like GX?
youtube.com
That and... oh gosh... Jody Summers' attire... Yeah. I can see snowflakes and SJWs on twitter fuming over some of the racers if they stuck with these designs. Even if they're deliberately retro-future as fuck character designs. Don't even get me started with Kate Allen's 60s style afro mama hairdo and all that bare black ass she's got showing. You just KNOW twitterfags would go fucking crazy bitching about that shit.
Simple: it’s impossible to top GX.
Well it's good to know that you're here to be preemptively mad over it for them.
I honestly just want a gx port with online play on the switch e shop like how brawl was just gonna be melee with extra chars and online
>which racer is that? The one on drugs.
Zoda. He's got dope pumping into him all the time.
Nintendo doesnt really give a shit about sjw outrage. So they wont change much if they ever made a new f-zero.
I'm sure all four people who give a fuck will be very upset and have more Yas Forums threads made about them than followers.
>Kate Allen
Wow! I can't believe that was on a Nintendo game! Where the fuck was this?
The internet isn't real life Senpai, just because you o-ringed soisuckers go at length about a children's plaything on a Taiwanese massage parlor's newsletter doesn't mean you're anywhere near the majority demographic. For every 20-something faggot with a Switch I see 3-5 kids with one. Not to mention American markets are literally Nintendo's afterthought, and that the F-Zero game in particular has a nonexistent following.
Every single factor is going against you. Party games and co-op. that's the future Nintendo is making with in-house titles. Everything else is third-party nonsense that exists on better hardware with more options and is a waste to get on the Switch.
Nice proof ya got there...
switch sales are massive, you idiot.
Nobody bought GX.
gaminggamma.com
>Even though we’d tried really hard making games for Sega hardware, they never sold too well, but F-Zero sold over 1.5 M copies worldwide.
post made with little research
It's okay to admit you weren't even a sperm cell in your dad's ballsack when GX was released, little zoomie.
the fact that the franchise continues to gain mass advertising through Smash bros and mario Kart 8 would suggest it's not all that unlikely another one could get made.
The only person who could confidently do it any service is Sakurai and he's stuck with Smash Bros.
That senile old fart hack Miyamoto absolutely refuses to let them make a new one unless they can "innovate" (read: shoehorn in some kind of gimmick) somehow.
But he recently got out of that habit
I'm sure if you add up the combined sales of every smash bros since melee and the combined sales of Mario Kart 8, which has now been on 2 consoles, you'd find there's now a substantial install base of F-zero fans, and potential buyers that'd justify another game getting for the very popular switch.
wipeout buried it
But wipeout is dead and never had the impact fzero did
If anything they should absolutely test the waters by making an HD port of F-Zero GX.
and even if Wipeout did sell an awfull lot of copies all that would do is entice Nintendo to continue making F-zero games knowing that there's a market out there for that kind of thing.
Why don't they just remake X already?
surprising there was nothing on the 3DS for it.
It will be on the n64 nintendo online service
